a lot of traitors to the Circle here... Trading in their staves for bows
I'm one of those, I've always loved both archery and magic... but I think the bow has stolen my first playthrough!

Do explain to me the nuances of a game I beat three times on Hard while having less difficulty than Origins on Nightmare or even friggin DA2 on Hard. Baldur's gate"s only real difficulty is in not knowing the various abilities and arbitrary protections that enemies get. Once you get past that, the game has almost no tactics required beyond siccing your fighters on the enemies that aren't immune to their weapons. That's when you can't just clear an entire room with 1-2 spells with all the ridiculously broken stuff mages get.
Also, since this is level 2 combat we saw, played by a guy who doesn't use tactics, I'm really not sure what you expected. Combat in the AD&D ruleset is also boring as **** until levels 5-6 at least, when your mages start getting half decent spells. Other classes never gain tactics beyond ''hit thing with other thing'' until 20th level, but you know, at least they hit more often so we can call it a True RPG I suppose.
Did I say Baldur's Gate was difficult? Once you know your enemy's weaknesses and how to defend against their attacks you can drop your foes fairly efficiently, however you do have to know what their strengths and immunities are and what their weaknesses are and how do break whatever protection or defensive spells they might use and how to defend against whatever attacks or spells they might use against you, to say that combat requires little more than siccing your fighters on the enemies that aren't immune to their weapons would make me doubt you even played the game on the lowest difficulty.
As for what I was expecting, well given what we have seen in the previous 2 Dragon Age games I am not expecting much
And given what we have seen of Inquisition I have no reason to believe that it would change

I've always been a bow type of person or a Gun user.
Usually any Range Mobility type class has been my strong suit and play style.
or Melee Speed/Stealth type like Dagger Rogues since I enjoy hitting hard and fast to take out the enemies before they can react.

More actiony. Player triggered attacks, for instance. I do recall something like mages had to hold down a button to spam their regular attack, for example.
Without TC everyone needs to hold the hit button for 'autoattack'. On TC, autoattack works the same way as in previous games.
I didn't realize Tac Cloak was in DA:I. Oh the nerf threads that are gonna be in the DAMP forum.
Bg2 yes there was just a isometric view however when I say tac am I mean the pause and go only time I used it is when my hands were cramped up or had to go to the bathroom so it was almost like a action adventure real time RPG

They showed a twitch stream for multiplayer the other day, and they were playing as a mage. While the first person played it as a more stationary, buffing turret, the other two players used the character in a much more aggressive fashion. The mage had some situational AOE attacks and some fairly damaging single target spells and the ability to teleport around the room, in a manner not too different from the Vanguards from Mass Effect.
If that demo was any indication, you should be able to make a mage that can play on offense, which is defiantly the more fun way to go.
Can you post a link?
Is it possible to die from excitement? Because I think waiting 11 days is going to put to much strain on my heart.

11 days? use a proxy if you're on pc. only 7 days. or if it's on console, ship a that-day copy to a friend in the US and have them ship it to you, and it'll only be 8-9 days ![]()
So indecisive Mage or Archer. Was steadfast till watching this few days ago, archer kinda looks badass
I usually play a mage. I was going to go rogue/dual wield this game, but that archery action was too sweet. Decision made.
