From a recent Gamespot interview:
Mike Laidlaw: "I would say we've covered most of the South, I think we've covered the Chantry enough. But I do want to look more toward the North, I want to see what happens to nations like Tevinter, and Rivain, and do more with the Qunari."
There's more about the future of the series in the full interview here, including elves, archdemons and multiplayer as well as plenty of details about Inquisition.
Obviously with Inquisition just around the corner it's far too early to get excited about the future of Dragon Age, but, well, Mike Laidlaw brought it up and I'm sure plenty of people here would be interested in what he has to say on the subject. Admittedly I can't help but be intrigued by the idea of DA4 being set in Tevinter and Rivain with the focus being set on a war between the Qunari and the Imperium, whether that turns out to be the case or not. And no doubt many will be pleased that it seems there will be less focus on the Chantry.

I want to see Rivani a bit more than Tevinter, just because there's SO much we know about Tevinter, and not as much about Rivani.
Another part of me also still wants to play a Chasind Wilder. They just seem so cool.

I'd like them to take us to Anderfels, which is also the birthplace of the Grey Wardens and the site of their headquarters. ![]()
I don't really like the Qunari anymore after they were redesigned, so i'd like to have less of them in the next game.

The World of Thedas volume 2 is going to give us our first big details on what's beyond Thedas, including stuff in the north. So that would make sense for the next game.

I'm really glad to hear them say they want to explore new areas! I'd love to see Tevinter or Antiva.
Or even a game that's entirely set in Orlais, but focusing on the city and intrigue, maybe. I don't know how it'd work though without it being criticized as being too similar 'DA2' because of the city.

I'm sorry, I can't do Orlais. I can't take their accent seriously! I would not be able to play a character who has an Orlesian accent, or play a character surrounded by Orlesian accents. I just would not be able to. I would keep expecting them to start talking about wine and cheese, or maybe insulting Ferelden's smelly dogs. I wouldn't be able to do it.

I would argue that it seems really obvious that we'll be going to Tevinter next game.
- I was particularly intrigued by his comment: Nobody really knows what happened to the elves. I could read so much into that.
I loved his commentary about sidequests and the main quest.
I'll let you know once I speak to Bodahn and Sandal.

Hahahah, you know, you're right. I really don't like the Orlesian accents either. But I just like how Orlesian stuff looks so far. Very fancy.

I can agree with that. I do love how they've written the country- no matter how you feel about the accent, when you hear the word Orlais, you see gorgeous cities, opulence, etc. Maybe it's just that I can't have Orlesian accents everywhere. I could probably handle one or two at a time, just not from EVERYONE.

i've always thought as a given that in the future one the DA game would be centered aroun tevinter/qunari conflict.

As far as the codex goes there is a vast area of inhabited land and then the planet south pole.

I wonder how well the northern nations fare against the breach and the rifts opening up all over the place and the Inquisition not being there...
So do we know what is south of Ferelden and Orlais? Do we just fall off the world?
Well, obviously, this:

I hope that BioWare doesn't discard romances for the next games. I would not blame them if they did, but I hope they don't. But man........there was some heavy backlash this time around.
I wouldn't worry. Romances are a big part of Bioware games going back over a decade now, really don't see them getting removed. As for backlash, they get about romances every time - whatever they do ![]()

I'd love to see one set in Tevinter and Nevarra. A few plot ideas:
* The Nevarran succession issues - since the King and his brother have no immediate heirs and the Van Markham family has tenuous ties to the throne, there could be a cool War of the Roses style plot happening here.
* Dragon hunting in Nevarra
* The Mortalitasi and their influence in Nevarran politics
* A Tevinter slave rebellion
* The Qunari/Tevinter battle in Seheron - There could be subplots around the Fog Warriors and the Elf-Qunari and you could eventually determine who wins: Tevinter, Qunari, or the natives
