When I first found out about her new body, I got hype. You'd think she'd wreck everything after seeing what the previous owner of that body did to kaiden/ashley.
Is it me or did Edi feel kind of underpowered as a squad member?

I'd say she's quite powerful. Her powers do a lot of damage. The weakest squadmate is Liara

I find her somewhat underwhelming because her powers take too long to recharge and squadmate powers makes for a poor source of damage.
I would rather have Tali or Liara's recharge speed for combos.
My main reason for avoiding her though is because I can't take that robot form seriously. It's like the vanilla outfit for Miranda.

With power recharge outfit and Tali they recharge quite fast

She's an excellent squaddie for an engineer.

Since I look at combo potentials when evaluating team mates, I find EDI OK, but not spectacular. 9.5 second recharge on either Incinerate or Overload is rather longer than I like. As far as actual damage of her powers, though, she as a very high damage output. But again, combos are the real route to dps and her cool down is lacking in that regard.
For other team mates, the one's with the fastest cool downs for combo potentials are (in order): Liara, Javik, Tali, Garrus/Ashley, Kaidan and James.
Liara is fantastic if you are biotic since you can combo off of her every 3 seconds. Same with Javik. If you are not a biotic, then their fast cool downs are really mostly for crowd control.
If you are not a biotic, then both Garrus and Ashley have concussive shot with a 6.5 second cool down.
Tali has a 6.5 second cool down on Energy Drain, but that is very situational for when you can use it. Works well on Geth and Cat6, but not so well on Reapers and marginally on Cerberus.
Kaidan can work with both biotic and non-biotic Shepards, but his cool downs are somewhat slow. His cryo blast is best on unprotected enemies, in which case a non-biotic Shepard can get off a combo every 6 seconds. His Reave will work on protected enemies, but has around a 9 second cool down. I find Kaidan to be good, but not spectacular.
Now if you include grenades, then Ashley's inferno grenades are a wonder: high damage, great combo potential, and no cool down. Javik's and Jame's grenades, while they don't have a cool down, I find to be less than inspiring.

I find EDI most useful for a Sentinel. Take Liara+EDI+Sentinel Shepard and you have every single type of combo open to you for maximum damage potential.
I play Soldier/Vanguard, and EDI is my 3rd most used squadmate due to her Incinerate, since my playstyle in ME3 is based around creating loads of fire explosions, with loads of cryo action thrown in(I got hooked the first time I saw a simultaneous cryo+fire explosion on a enemy). When Ash and her grenades re join the squad though, EDI takes a back seat, since Ashley's grenades have no cooldown and there's ample amount of grenades lying around.
Ash+Vega+Soldier/Vanguard Shepard is how I roll.

Another thing to note about EDI is that she is more or less a replacement for Mordin as far as tech team mates go.

I'd say she's one of the best squadies.
Reason 1. Overload
Reason 2. Incinerate
Reason 3. +110% tech damage bonus
i.e. she is the only squadmate that can strip the enemy from ANY kind of protection.
Also she looks...very good and voiced by Tricia Helfer.
and yeah remove autocast powers. (otherwise cooldowns will be too long (because of teh defence matrix) or don't spend your points on clone and shield barrier.

When I first got her, I'd thought she'd be like robocop or something. I mean she's an AI controlling a machine, she's should be able to destroy everything. Same with thing with Liara and Samara, you see them doing all these things in the cutscenes but when you play with them it's like oh...

I admit that she is decent, I mean I always use her but I feel that she could be stronger

I find EDI is a good squadmate for the Engineer, and somewhat decent for a power-focused Infiltrator.
Other than that... other squadmates are generally better for the other classes.

The thing was a waste of a squadmate. I'd rather have an ME2 squadmate. It was better as a hologram. The only reason the hologram was given a platform was to promote the green ending and to make the clown happy.
I've only used it a few times on missions. I'd like to know how medigel can heal a robot.

I know you are partial to Mordin's 4.5 second cryo blast, but look at the other similarities.
Incinerate on both.
Neural Shock has been subsumed by Overload 5A
Both have buffs to their damage output, Mordin's through his omni-tool upgrade, EDI through her passives.
Both have greater "shield strength," Mordin through his passives, EDI through Defense Matrix (even though I doubt anyone specs her into that)
I think it is relatively clear that the designers saw her as a tech replacement for Mordin.

Er.. no, not in my opinion. That would have to be overall Tali. Liara can be insanely effective.

Perhaps it has to do with that I play an Engineer. Liara can be effective but she has the lowest health of all squadmates, even Tali. She gets killed too often in my game.
Tali is great, Energy Drain primes targets for tech bursts, Sabotage makes Cerberus missions a joke. I also give her the Defense Drone so she has some protection from the husks (in addition to her shotgun). She also has a way to reduce squadmate tech power cooldown (and it affects herself as well, if I'm not mistaken). Tali + Garrus destroy anything on my current Engineer run

When I play as one I rarely have T'soni with me. Most of the time its Ashley and James with me. I finish the missions quicker with those two than with the other squadmates

Yeah. Give 'em each typhoons and Vega's squad incendiary ammo, and it doesn't matter which class you play with those two in the squad, heh. ![]()

At launch, the weakest squadmate was James. With the changes to fire explosions, he actually is a better squadmate now, setting up fire explosions with Incendiary Ammo.
Tali is good and I think she is great when paired with an Engineer, but it is hard to argue against her situational use:
- She works best against Geth since Energy Drain will detonate tech combos on synthetics; against organics, Energy Drain will not detonate tech combos... except when it does occasionally.
- Her Sabotage has an insanely long cooldown, which can make it unreliable against Geth, and locks her out of more useful powers (read: energy drain) against organics
- Defense Drone is highly situational on her and hardly worth the effort
- Her Combat Drone is like the Engineer's Combat Drone, only not as damaging and takes longer to cool down. Plus it is a drone so it is only mildly distracting when it actually does anything useful.
- Tali's Energy Drain can completely strip shields off most elite enemies... provided you spec it for maximum damage + use Tali's Power Damage armor + make her use a pistol with a Power Amplifier mod
Liara is good on all classes, especially if you have a biotic power, either natively or as a bonus power.
EDI is good, just also situational. She just works best with an Engineer (and Infiltrator) with Sabotage to get the most out of her powers.
