There is a huge difference between this...
...and this...
The former, I have no problem with, since its just about as specific as it gets. The latter is too broad and that I do have problem with.
Should've been more clear, my bad

If your Liaras' are going down a lot, maybe it's you guys that are doing something wrong. ("You're not doing it right" - Matriarch Aethyta)
I play ME3 on Insanity all the time and use Liara a lot. Sure she'll go down occasionally, but not as bad as what people are saying. If this were the MP section I (or someone) would say - L2P. ![]()
Yes she has low health and barriers, but she is a powerhouse with her talents and certainly not the "weakest squadmate". Her Warp is good for everything from detonating, priming and debuffing. Singularity for crowd control, which has a super fast cool down and Stasis, if you spec into it, can hold multiple enemies at once. Or you can go with squad Warp Ammo if you want to.
Someone mentioned Kaidan being the better biotic squaddie, well maybe if Reave (which is an awesome skill) didn't have an atrocious cooldown on him I 'might' buy that.
But ... Nah!!
Yes she has low health and barriers, !!
This is a common misconception. Her base barrier strength is 500, the same as every other squad mate (except Wrex and Grunt). It is her health which is lower, base = 200. I almost wonder if the 200 was an oversight. It the same base health that you see for your squad mates and most Shepards in ME2. It leaves me wondering if they simply didn't update her health for ME3 or whether the 200 number was intentional.

Incorrect. As i've posted a few times. When I position her in cover, for some reason she doesn't stay and gets killed a moment later. The other squadmates don't have a problem staying in cover, but for some reason liara has a problem with staying on cover

I wonder if she glitches out sometimes. My last time at the Monastery I gave her a positioning order and she just totally ignored it.
In ME2 during my last insanity run I had some problems with my squad mates not staying in cover. Garrus died twice in rapid succession during the Aleri mission. And during Mordin's LM both Mordin and Thane croaked themselves by not staying in cover. I was especially dismayed by Thane who just stood there and allowed himself to be killed.
Asari are so squishy

Tali dies the most for me out of any other character (although this may be confirmation bias). I had one playthrough where Liara spent most of her time at the back doing nothing or looking the wrong way (you might recall the screenshots). On others she is at the forefront killing everything.
I don't particularly care anyway, as Shep can kill everything on her own. Squadmates add flavour to a mission, all this moaning and complaining is just a bit odd in my opinion (and no surprise Liara is singled out again, but ho hum the world continues to turn).

Same.
One thing I am genuinely curious about is how some of you complain that Liara seems to go down constantly.
Seriously. About 1/2 to 2/3 (or even more) of the enemies on most missions have just health. Liara's Singularity can typically have a sub-4 second cooldown (typically around 3.5 seconds for me). Same with Javik's Pull.
If you are a Sentinel or Adept, you have throw. Typical encounter goes like this:
Liara Singularity > Shepard Throw > Javik Pull > Shepard throw > repeat until everything is dead. You rarely need to use guns. Hard for Liara to go down if all the enemies cannot even stand. Same with all the other squadmates.
I have no issues with Liara. She goes down at about the same rate as all the other squadmates I have.
Even when I do take her on a non-biotic class, same thing. I just have her Singularity everything on health so fewer enemies are shooting at me and Kill everything else.
The only people who complain about this are the same people who otherwise dislike her. Coincidence? I doubt it.

Oh, come off it, Liara's AI behaviour is erratic and very reminiscent of the ME2 squadmates AI behaviour. She goes forward and does her own there way too much, often leading to her death.

She does fall down a bit more than some of the others (James, Ashley), but not excessively so. I brought her more than anyone else and had no issues. All you have to do is use a slight amount of micro and you can keep her alive, and there are more than enough gameplay vids to prove this.
The point is: People who like Kaidan claim that Kaidan is the best character in combat. What a surprise. People who hate Liara claim Liara is the worst character in combat. What a surprise.
She dies a lot because she doesn't stay in cover. The others have no problem when I position them in cover. Hating the character has nothing to do with that

No, I think you just try to ignore it. I played through Insanity twice and I literally could not bring Liara on any mission involving rachni. Thessia was an absolute pain. She doesn't stay in cover, and doesn't have the health to deal with it.

There's also the fact she's the only caster with no way to avoid the damage. EDI has Decoy(borked up as it might be) and Repair Matrix. Kaidan has Reave and Barrier, he's just about one of the tankiest characters in the game. Hell, he can outtank Vega if specced properly. Tali has her Decoy Drone. Kaidan and Tali also have weapons that can do some quite crazy amount of damage.
Of all the characters, Liara is the flimsiest, yes. That's why she requires very different playstyle. She isn't there to kill stuff herself... she's there to make killing stuff easier for Shepard and others. Of course, Shepard can solo the entire game, but her talents are quite obvious to anybody who plays anything else than just CoD style of games. All her talents are geared towards team support one way or another. One reason why I like her... she caters to my playstyle well.
It's easy to kill stuff with the Typhoon. Or with anything else. I don't need help for that, so Liara's useless

This is utterly ridiculous. I am almost done with my current ME3 insanity run through where Liara came on every single mission. She almost never died. She didn't die during the Rachni mission, she didn't die on Thessia, she almost never died. Its recorded in all its glory on youtube if you don't believe it. You even get to see what a crappy player I am, a lot worse than Liara at any rate.
I still get a laugh out of that one you posted of Ash taking out the harvester on Earth. "Holy sh*t, he's already dead"This is utterly ridiculous. Yeah, I stopped giving the squadies the Typhoon after that playthrough.

Actually, I downloaded and gave my squaddies the Typhoon on your suggestion. ![]()
But just that made it too easy. Or maybe I should say easier.
Just for future reference, I'm blaming you, Cap. ![]()

Oh Aria, glorious Aria. One of the things I was most looking forward to in the Omega DLC was finally getting the chance to fight alongside a military trained Asari. I was salty for years after being railroaded into letting Tela Vasir die, because I thought I would never get the chance to fight alongside an Asari commando ever again, but Aria fulfilled my dream, and it was glorious, she complimented my brute force play style perfectly. Tears were nearly shed when I had to leave her behind at the end.
Aria was kinda awesome, and hot, no question. First time I saw her blow up a bunch of guys with a Flare and say, "feels good to let loose!" I was all, yesss!Oh Aria, glorious Aria. Now that I've gotten a taste for it, I expect any and every Asari crew member in future games to have received Commando training. Aria has spoiled me.

Pretty much all the MP Asari are fun to play. I particularly like the Justicar. (Actually, the Asari Adept [aka Liara-lite] is my least favorite.)
