spawn creature with effect?

Hello,

 

Is there an easy way to have a monster spawn in with an effect? I have some encounters set up and I would like the monsters to appear out of a cloud of smoke, for instance. I could have sworn there was a local variable you could set or something, but I can't seem to find anything.

There is a flag for "use appear animation", but I've never seen it work.  If you're spawning the monsters by script, you can just spawn a special effect in the same location.  If you're using the encounter system, you could probably add a line to the creature's "On Spawn" script to spawn a special effect in their location, too.

Thanks! I was just looking for more info on the various flags and how to use them, but I haven't found anything but a list of the flags so far. I'll keep digging. :)

If the effect is a non-looping instant one, then you can simply hardcode it into the creature blueprint. Then when you first spawn the creature the effect will play briefly and disappear. You'd have to spawn the creature in via script or an encounter trigger though.

 

That's how I had zombies burst up from the ground in Shaar Moan.
