SpoilerI think Cass had some uncertainties and didn't want to appear weak or like she was trying act superior to Leliana (since I think they are more or less of equal rank) so she differed to a third party. After the Attempt to close the breach she literally thinks the Maker or the Divine sent you so of course she will defer to you
This prologue was very fast paced but considering the situation it made total sense.
Spoiler
I think Cassandra and Leliana were in agreement to act, just not on how to act. She needed a tiebreaker. Considering you were the one with the mark on the hand, the logical person to ask as a tiebreaker would be you. Furthermore, the Chantry Official basically told they needed to leave, which was something she was definitely not going to consider. She just ignored him.
SpoilerI think Cass gave off a very battlefield-commander vibe, which she was pretty damn good at. But outside of the fighting, she didn't show that she was much of a diplomat, or big picture kind of individual. Even deciding where to send troops, you could tell she was a little hesitant. I think that's where our Inquisitor will come in.
Spoiler
That's a great point. She seems much more used to be field commander that's good at tactics. However, it makes me wonder. If she let Leliana handle the Chantry Official, would it had gone better?
SpoilerThat makes sense. I hope we can talk more to Cassandra and Leliana to suss out exactly how much of their faith in the Herald is genuine and how much is a matter of expedience. I'm also curious to see how much their opinions change over time.
Spoiler
That's a good question. I suspect Leliana is very open to this idea. I'm less sure about Cassandra, but she's the one who put the idea out, so...
