As a person who has played both Origins and DA2 (and KOTOR and Jade Empire) on PC, I'm struggling with the quandary that my personal computer probably isn't good enough to run Inquisition. There is another computer in my house that should be able to run it, and while I do have permission to use it for DA:I (as it isn't technically "my" computer), said computer is also in the coldest / hardest to heat room in the house and it uses ergonomic peripherals (both keyboard and mouse) that I'm not used to.

I'm thinking that the best course of action would be to get the game for PS4 instead, but I have never played any Dragon Age game on consoles before. I'd like some feedback from console players - especially those who've played on both PC and PS4 - on play the Dragon Age series on console is like. Good, bad, awkward, comfortable, easy, hard, efficient, limiting, whatever... just extrapolate on your personal experiences and say whether or not such a transition is worth doing.

I will also make a note that I play RPGs for the story and not the challenge, and all my playthroughs save my initial Origins run have been on Casual difficulty. I intend to play Casual regardless of my platform of choice - I don't know how much that will affect your assessment.

I played the first two on ps3 and while it was a bit awkward and it takes a bit longer to actually complete an action, it's in no way game breaking. Heck, I own them on both pc and ps3 and have played far more on my ps3. Also Inquisition looks far more suited towards controller play than the last two, especially since you can only use the 8 skills. Ultimately it's up to you, though. The pc version will be better in the moment you get a better computer, but it's not like you're going to lose something by playing it on ps4.

A lot will obviously depend on your comfort with the controls, so if you're more comfortable with KB+M, the controller will likely feel awkward. However, DA:I controls look amazing to me, and I see no reason anything should be an issue with the controller. Some people are worried about tac-cam working awkwardly with a controller but all the reviewers who've had this issue are self-confirmed PC players who are struggling with a new controller and within their first few hours of using a control scheme they don't know in a new game. A lot of them played on harder modes than Casual too.

I'm a controller player, who has all platforms and does NOT favor KB+M so to me those controls feel awkward, so know I come from that perspective. I've played Origins on both console (first) and PC (second). I wound up playing a little of Origins on the PC with the KB+M due to the lack of controller support (there's a mod, so I've also played it that way). I know Origins is supposed to be way better on the PC, but I don't see it. The combat is terrible on any platform, really, and the story is just as good anywhere. The mods on PC are nice, which is why I bothered with the PC version.

I think you'll be fine on the PS4 if you're comfortable with controllers at all (assuming you play other PS4 games, etc). I think it will feel weird at first if you favor a different control scheme for the type of game.

Mods aside, I preferred DA:O on console, and I only played DA2 on console. I enjoyed them immensely. DA:I looks like the controls are even better. But I predominantly play with a controller even when on PC and generally only go with PC with games that are far cheaper there (50% discount or more) or have intense mod support. So I may not be the same perspective that you're looking for.
