I don't know who the person is, but that amount of time for a main story sounds good to me.
85 hours long?

As i understand nightmare micromanaging game which involve completionist approach, extensive crafting and just staring on your party skill trees in order to optimize them could bring it to 120h easily. Well, thats quite nice!

Heard some folks on Gametrailers say that a few people on Twitter were hinting that the main story alone takes over 50 hours. I'm sure the game will be pretty beefy.

Going by the numbers we have heard from other people, from internal testing to other reviewers, they have said that the main campaign is about 50 hours or so alone, and that a completionist playthrough can range anywhere from 80-150+ hours depending on how thorough one is, how many side quests, big and small, one does, and how much of the maps one wants to explore and search. Which from what we have seen sounds about reasonable, most reviewers have said that 5-6 hours of gameplay only just scratched how much area and content there are in each of the larger maps.

More walking and exploring in this game too. 10 huge areas, was it? That will certainly add to the gametime, for sure.

Yeah I would agree that this was with side quests, companion quests, trying everything out ect but not a completionist playthrough. This is a reviewer so they would want to get the full experience for their review if they had the time to do so. Anyway that's very impressive, especially considering some of the things bioware have said about certain choices cutting out chunks of content so that you can't experience it all in one playthrough.

I'm excited.. haven't played a long RPG like this for some time. I guess the last was Skyrim. I can finish DAO and DA2 around 40-50 hrs or so.

Still too short I fear.
If I play 10-15 hours a day then according to this I will be done in only a week

Kev would likely just avoid the bad content, and he has to complete a review so any content that repeats could be avoided.

I'm a student and I'm single My last exam this semester is done by the time DA:I is released. I also get scholarship money out december despite the last exam being done in November.
So I get paid 1500 dollar for sitting on my ass playing DA:I with a pure conscience until 15th of January when school starts again ![]()

4 years of development and people are done in a week.
I guess they need to do Multiplayer only next time and dark soul difficulty so none can finish the game.

That's very good, I think I finished the DAO storyline faster on my first playthrough, like 75-80 hours.

my first DA:O playthrough without knowing what I'm doing was 74 hours so 85 hours sounds like a good deal.

85h? Great! If that is how it usually is, I'll not finish that in less than 180 hours, and I'll easily drag it out way past 200 hours.
Rushing along after the railroad has never been for me. Mind you, it's if it's not too FF'ish
, which I don't think it'll be.

That sounds a bit defensive to just assume that people took a shortest path possible and skipped all the details. I doubt the main story alone would be 85hrs long.
Completionist playthrough in any game shouldn't really be taken into account, by the way. That means all the useless time spent on doing filler quests (e.g. collecting and fetching stuffs that have no background or relations to story), and also possibly reloading/replaying the game for different paths & choices are also included, and that can boost a game length by quite a lot.
I didn't say they skipped all the details. Judging from how they worded that tweet, they probably did not fully invest themselves in every aspect of the game. I was just simply saying that 85 hours is a respectable amount of time if one does not do everything. This fits the "average" gamer model.
Completionists and such should expect 100+ hours for doing things the average gamer would not.
I take them into account because the developers used the 100+/150 hours figure to describe the people who fit the completionist archetype.
85 hours is more than reasonable for the average gamer to expect and I was pre-emptively shutting down drama queens.
