Which reviews should I look at to avoid spoilers, while gaining an idea of what they thought about the game?

I didn't watch it so what I'm saying here is just speculation... but If they kill her off without an option to save her I'm coming with pitchforks to the Bioware offices!!
Its not that (at least in the spoiler) so no need to sharpen that pitchfork yet

I dunno, most of the reviews I've read talks about these quite a lot (without going into spoilers). A couple of places have said the main plot is weak, but they seem to be outliers mostly (and to be honest, BioWare games have rarely had compelling main storylines. They usually hook you with characterisation).
I said decent... KOTOR had a great main story, ME had a decent one, DA:O had a decent (if cliched) one. BG had a great story (at least I really liked it). I was only worried because some reviews had it as the weakest element which is a worry and Im not hearing a huge deal about the companions being amazing (except one guy who really liked dorian). I did hear they were well acted which is nice but expected

Im excited for the game and hope it does well (and Im definitely getting it). I am a little worried that the reason why its getting good reviews seem to be its skyrim aspects in large part which is not what I play Bioware games for. I like depth rather than breadth, really compelling characters and a decent story are my draw cards which seem to be getting a bit more criticism than praise

IGN reviewer put as plus combat and as minus story.
Gamespot reviewer put as plus story and as minus combat.
People you had to realize that review, even the most solid, are influenced on the writer preference. The bottom line of all this review is that the game is great but be assured that something in the game will not fit your taste.

I think that might be the first game I've seen Stephen Meyerink score higher than 90%. Usually the guys over there have the tendency to score games too high (they have way too many 95-99%) but not him.

We got hit with the firmware update that was applied after our game had already passed certification. Sorted out now, though.
Well, thats's pretty unlucky

After reading and watching a number of reviews...
OW OW OW OW OW!
How could you do such a thing?!

Which is also true, of course conspiracy theories also abound, but I expect more reviews would have mentioned the story being lackluster if it was.

They are also a JRPG focused site. They tend to score western RPGs lower.... DAO got a 90 and DA2 got a 79

The Eurogamer review was pretty interesting, positive yet highly critical. Though ultimately most of the critique could be summed up in a sentence like: "It's a typical Bioware game", which I was expecting.
Beware of the 4gamers review btw (if you speak Dutch), it has massive spoilers in the first paragraph.

You're going to want to put a major spoiler tag on this one too. It practically starts off saying who the Big Bad is. Guess I might as well start reading everything that has spoilers in it now ![]()

Yeah, that's definitely true. For instance, they scored Tales of Xillia with a 96%, which is kinda... yeah.
Still, I like most of their reviewers.

As long as the cons are such subjective points, I'm seeing this as a good sign

Do any of the reviews mention traditional side-quests? Not fetch quests and not the quickies I mean like Hubert and his mine and finding the magistrates son. There are still some of those right?

I wouldn't worry too much about "weak story" comments, it obviously wasn't weak enough to bring down the reviews and generally a lot of that is going to be down to player preference anyway.

I thought Kotaku did a nice overview of the game.

There is a big story spoiler in the 4gamers.be review. Maybe a good idea to also put a spoiler warning up for it?

I'm almost calmed now and am able to actually read reviews without jumping around my room.
