Well i played skyrim pre skyUI too and i disagree. Exspecially the inventory looks pretty bad inquisition. Having weapons and armors in so many different categories means it always takes extra long to equip anything. Additionally the lists were the items are listed are even smaller than skyrims, which makes it horrible to navigate on pc.

There's actually a menu with all the weapons, other then menus for every types.

...and I would say other things are artifically elongating the game, from what I hear that is. Like I said, LOTS of filler content, so...

You realize that you are complaining about an open-world being filled with optional content, right?

I fear I will have to wait a bit longer to sift through all the hype-generated-reviews and look for the ones written with cool mind nad not opinionated. Which , either way, might be hard.

You might like Eurogamer's.

I don't know if this has been posted but here's Gamereactor Sweden. It's only a 7/10, the reviewer thought the story lacked impact, the environments were linear and felt boxed in. He also disliked the combat and voice acting.

I think some of his points may have to do with the fact that he's only been playing the game for 38 hours, from what I've understood from other reviewers; that's a speed run.

eh, that same reviewer rates any rpg with a 7 or 8 but gives FIFA a 9 every.single.year. ...

Well a Metacritic Score above 85 means Bio Devs get bonuses so great news for them.

Read a couple of reviews, from game spot & IGN in particular & found them way too generalised. No in depth critique with specific examples form the game being discussed at length.

Just 8 or so paragraphs filled with buzz words "Even after 80 hours I'm still Just scratching the surface"  & other stuff which is parroted in every review so far.

They don't tell me what I want to know, just vague stuff with a 9 out of 10 slapped onto the end.

But reviews are just a quick buyers guide for players anyway so looks like here is where the in-depth break down & discussion is gonna take place. BSN  take it away!

As for the plot being lame, well DA:I's is as generic & Boring as you can get. Chosen one, save the world etc.

Expecting well written, compelling & complex plots from Bioware is just Silly at this point. They have shown a remarkable reluctance to steer away from Generic Hero Fantasy stories & even when they have, to say they struggle is putting it mildly.

Creating Compelling Companions is the only thing they do really well. Lets see if DA:I measures up to Bioware's pedigree in that regard.

Well, to be fair, they did steer away from the whole "save the world" plot with DA2, but we can obviously see what the fans reactions to that were.

I fail to see your point. It needn't be a trilogy to be a self-contained story.

The presence of a cliffhanger (a given due to the fact that DA franchise will not end with this game) do not preclude the lack of a proper ending

Thank the creators for you Ynq! Kind of odd that he's saying the complete opposite of everyone else in relation to...well everything really, yet he still gave it a 7? What did he like about it?

He liked that there were a lot of side content (which he obviously didn't play), the lore, multiplayer and the fact that the regions were distinct. He also enjoyed Josephine and her romance.

I don't know why I continue to use IGN as a "good" news source. They give DA:I a 8.8, but every COD game 9 or above. Really?

It's because both games have nothing in common. The insignificant number at the end of reviews should always be seen with the circumstances around the reviewed product. Saying: you can't compare a 8.8 of an RPG with an 9.0 of a FPS or racing game or [insert non-RPG genre].

Surely every review is an opinion at the end of the day.

Some reviewers might be more critical than others but there will always be features that a reviewer simply just doesn't like or simply loves and that is their opinion.

All the reviews are closely matching up to how I felt when I played the game a few weeks ago in London. Awesome job devs! Truly one of the best RPGs I've ever played hands down!

10/10

Probably different reviewers looking for different types of things in different genres of game.

I find it odd that no review I've read so far brings up the game's ending. I don't know whether that's good or bad.

If the ending sucked if would have been mentioned in line one.

After last time we know reviewers made an extra effort to get to the end.

(possibly in the hope that the ending sucked and they could be the first to talk about it)

It's not about the score. It's about the collection of words the coalesce into an opinion that matters.

An 89 Metacritic is damn good considering reviewers are, overall, weighting things a bit more towards the center these days. I hope this meets BioWare's expections, but I think they'll really be waiting for fan reaction. After all DA2 reviewed fairly well; it wasn't until fans were playing it that the negativity started.

A good sign is that several of the reviewers are on record as not liking DA2 and they love Origins, and now are loving DA: I. Kotaku's Schreier (not the guy reviewing the game, but still) gave DA2 a 5/10 and says Inquisition is a GOTY candidate. I think we're in for a treat.

Trust me, I don't take anything from Gamereactor Sweden seriously...

Edit: For reference; they gave DA2 an 8/10, I love the game but I'm 99.99 % sure that DAI is an improvement.

There are some reviews that I don't add to the equation. Especially that Telegraph one which isn't even a game reviewing site. Just some random person to be told to play a game and do a review on. Like telling a nongamer to play a game. The writer pull off from several different articles or maybe wiki. Probably never played the others in the franchise.

Of course people invested in the series will have a different perspective. They may be able to catch on to the story and lore whereas others are judging it as a standalone title. Which it isn't. I know publishers love to say that it is newcomer friendly but let's face it. It is a game that has history behind it and you need to play that history to have a greater appreciation to the overall story!

They said the same thing about ME3. 'Best place to start' and all that. Let's be honest: it really, really wasn't.

Ironically that person would probably end up being more objective than someone that does. I can't read Swedish so I don't know what they have to say. But I've found the 8.5 reviews most informative from a technical standpoint.

Waiting 6 months for the next season pf a show isn't the same as waiting 4 years for the next game. I'll probably have kids by then and little time to game.
