yeah I know the site and I was very disappointed in their review

sure there are definitely things to criticize but to just claim that it isn't a real Dragon Age seems just like a butthurt pc gamer/DAO fanboy talking (no offense to any pc gamers)

I mean they even gave freaking DA2 a higher score

Jesus christ...

That smells like elitism towards a certain type of game.

author is showing their bias at least.

I can't take anyone who gives DA2 a higher score than this seriously.

If u are able to understand German, here's a video about what's bugging the author about DA: I.

http://www.gamestar....tion,79244.html

Essentially it's the fact that Bioware didn't care to make a proper PC UI and the controls of the UI / inventory / tactical view / loot grabbing leaves to be desired.

Thank you for showing me this ... damnit Bioware how the hell do you implement autocentering in tactical view again? Game developers have the memory of gnats.

I can fully understand him screaming at the screen.

All I know is Mass Effect 1 had the worst combat in the trilogy, but I consider it the best entry in the series. So bring on the slightly flawed but functional UI!

Well in a few more days we will be able to determine if there is merit to both the positive and negative comments being made.

I am most interested in the comments about a "weak storyline" because if nothing else, dragon age in rich on story. I would also be curious how they would compare DA:I story line to either of the previous games and to games such as Skyrim, Risen, Dragons Dogma etc.

I am looking forward to playing regardless...

I've seen quite a few reviewers praise the story, so we'll see.

Its worth remembering that most people aren't nearly as immersed in the lore as us here on the BSN.

The funny thing is when so-called "professional reviewers" wonder why so many of the characters speak with a French accent.  Seriously?  Have they not played any of the previous games?  Even if not, they should at least do a little Googling and figure it out on their own.  I've seen at least a couple of reviewers remark on this and it completely makes you question their credibility... the little things I guess. :P

Norwegian site, Pressfire, awarded Inquisition 6/6.

"Finally, the sequel we deserve."

http://www.pressfire...Age-Inquisition

Strangely, they weren't all that impressed with some of the voice acting, which sounded a bit "stiff" at times. They also didn't care for the crafting system, which was a bit boring.

Sadly, sadly, sadly  :crying: ...

I watched the video because I was thinking I was going to disagree vehemently with him.

But it looks ridiculous compared to DA:O. Why have we jumped so far back in game technology? It's worse than the DOS age.

Sadly, he's right. That is one typical horrible example of a console interface that is just possible to navigate with mouse and keyboard.

I hate few things so much as that. With the exception of Skyrim which was only sort of half bad, I have never played more than 5 minutes of any such game.  Suddenly, the limit on 8 skills (which I didn't even bother to think of previously) seem so much more unforgivable.  ...Just for MP  .

I'll still buy and play the game. As I said Skyrim UI was also somewhat botched, but it worked out alright in the end. And if one likes the game it should maybe be possible to get used to it. I'll not give up that easy.

But it is heart breakingly and gutwrenchingly sad.  :(

Well at least as far as centering is concerned that was already in DA:O, and it was incredibly annoying there as well.

Seriously? Why are we acting like this is a big deal?

For myself, the UI looks very nice, though I prefer to have the 'Carved Rune-board' appearance of DAO. But the big deal for me is having the PC balanced to eight slots because of DA-MP, and there is no cross-platform gaming there anyway. I play solo games on a PC as a rule, and am somewhat irked that my longer list of choices is restricted because others choose to play on consoles. I am not any better - likely a worse Player - than those on consoles, but am a tad frustrated with the idea of balance, esp when it does not need to exist, IMO.

Before someone else posts this here and gets all panicky.

4players.de gave Dragon Age Inquisition a 59/100.

http://www.4players....nquisition.html

Note: I would not take 4players seriously. They are notorious in Germany for giving AAA games bad scores for the sake of it. They even rated DA2 higher than DA:I. Just saying because people on NeoGAF are already freaking out...

RPS's reviewer really likes the game

Dragon Age: Inquisition might just be my favourite game released this year. Considering my expectations and relationship with recent BioWare games, that’s about as likely as Saturday night’s soggy kebab being my favourite meal of the year. I’ve spent almost sixty hours uncovering as much of Inquisition’s enormous open world and intricate story as possible, and as soon as I have a few days free, I’ll be spending another sixty or eighty hours seeing it all through new eyes.

Sounds like a bunch of losers.

It's actually a very subjective site. The various reviewers have their preferences and are rating games based on them. The reviewer of DA:I is known for his fondness for oldschool RPGs and for his dislike of comfortable mechanics like the icon-flooded mini map, treasure echo sounding, and so on or lack of responsiveness of the world.

With that in mind his 9 pages long review is well-grounded because he values points of RPGs differently than most others do.

A 59/100 is a F. Sorry but I'm gonna hang on to the opinion that the guy who reviewed DA:I is a tryhard edgelord who can't accept anything that doesn't cater to his specific needs. I didn't like Bayonetta because it wasn't a game that fit my taste. That said that doesn't mean if I was reviewing it, I'd give it a bad score.

Well, it again depends on the reason behind the score, although I doubt it has any logical reason based on what others say.

And a 59/100 shouldn't be an F. Maybe in a school grading system but that is a bad system to go by. For reviews and what not, that's a C/C+ to me. Hell, why bother with scores below 60 then in that case?

He scored it lower than the DA:2 review that has a 70/100

So? Maybe he liked the game more, for whatever reason. Are we really going to chastise someone for liking Dragon Age II more than Inquisition?

The better question, does he justify why clearly, or is it in a vacuum and he just said its a bad game vaguely? If it's the former then hes at least attempting to do a good review, if it's the latter then it's same issue I keep talking about regarding reviews in the first place.

I totally missed this and created a thread with a review... perhaps this could be added to the initial list instead?
