What if a woman mentioned she wanted to bang some hot guy or girl is that still sexist? Its expressing (in a rather crude way) sexual attraction. It would be very rude if they said that to a strangers face, but that doesn't seem to be the case here.

 

There probably are better examples delijoe has of AJ's misogynistic attitude, but I don't remember and I'm usually sensitive to that type of stuff.

Yeah I know that. I was presenting the first statement as a general question to anyone. Plus I did mention that delijoe possibly has other points that led to that opinion.

I saw some comments he made in the da2 video that I found very off putting....but in the interests of not getting this thread locked or spiraling out of control before any actual reviews come out, maybe we should limit discussion of misogyny to any that we see (or don't see) in da3 reviews? These discussions often get involved, shrug.

Still kinda amazing how thread can suddenly derail into discussion of misogyny. 

 

Also I don't get people who come to thread specific for reviews and say things like"I think reviews are worhtless".

I mean, Ok? But some people actually enjoy reading reviews and like seeing what other people think.

Reviews are very important to me, and i have skipped many a game because of them. If dragon age Inquisition gets over a 9.5 i will preorder deluxe edition. 9.0 pre order regular, 8.5 i will buy it when it comes out  anything lower i probably will wait for it to go on sale. I only buy the creme of the crop when it comes to new games.

If that system has worked for them and they're happy with it, who cares?

I find it confusing as numbers never accurately predict quality to me, only the content of reviews is illuminating (and more by examining them critically, not taking their word), but to each their own.

Reviews should only ever be used as a barometer for opinion. They (like all commentary) are incredibly subjective. And any number of reasons may differ the reviewers opinions from yours. And depending on how willing the reviewer is to analyze why they felt that way about the game, the less useful information you get.
ie: this part is bad , as opposed to X bugs me because personal reason or I'm not a fan of this particular genre.
Edit: essentially numbers are useless, the words used to describe certain content are much better determinors of the products end quality.

I like reading reviews for the things I like.  Sometimes you can read a review where someone hates the game and tares it apart.  But the things he is complaining about are things I love so I know I will like the game.

Hope the reviews manage to keep the best game ever hyperbole to a minimum.

I expect the game to receive good reviews, but i am kinda wondering what all these reviewers that know nothing of the combat system changes, and especially healing changes, will think of the combat.

 

Usually people are alienated with a core RPG mechaninc missing, even if there's an alternative.

 

Granted, healing is not missing from the game, but the system is pretty proactive now, rather than reactive.

 

It will need more tactical play.

Uhh, I can't decide.  Stay up and read the reviews as they come out.  Or go to sleep and see them all tomorrow.  (They won't come out until 2am for me)  Sure I don't have to go to work tomorrow, but still I can't decide.  

 

The reviews won't change my mind on playing, but I still want to know.  Decisions, decisions.

 

After reading many of the other posts, I'm also worried for the dev's.  Its got to be tough to work so hard on something and then wait to have it judged.  I really hope DAI gets good reviews.

Yeah 2am is a bit late to stay up to read reviews you can peruse over morning coffee, unless you're naturally a night owl and also can stay up with no penalty to your day to day life! I don't have to be up early tomorrow, so staying up until 12 isn't a big deal seeing that I usually go to bed around 11:30, but I wouldn't throw off my schedule to stay up that late.

Reviews are also important to me but not in a way that the score they get determines whether i will buy it or not. It's just the reviewers tend to point out pros and cons of the game (unless it's really bad), they show some gameplay moments, talk about features and they in general help me in predicting if i will like a game or not. There have been a few times i've seen a game review i didn't like but ended up buying the game months later and not liking it (Assassins Creed 3, Victoria II and Dishonored to name a few). I have never played Dragon Age 2 due to the horrendous reviews it got and after watching a let's play for the story it was clear i would not have enjoyed the game.

 

 

That said i was already sold the product and pre ordered DA:I so good or bad i will be playing it
