Still kinda amazing how thread can suddenly derail into discussion of misogyny.

Also I don't get people who come to thread specific for reviews and say things like"I think reviews are worhtless".

I mean, Ok? But some people actually enjoy reading reviews and like seeing what other people think.

You've likely been on the internet long enough to know where there is no relevant discussion to be had a thread can get weird fast. Luckily in a few more hours this thread will be useful, but until then people will be bored and say offtopic stuff.

Also I do agree that posters who come into a review thread and post rather dismissive opinions on people who read reviews are a bit weird.

I ignore all reviews on games like this. In my experience the only review that matters is my own.

I like the way you think.

If that's about me, I'm not dismissive of people who read reviews, just those that base their purchasing habits off them. If that's not about me, than those people are no weirder than those people who are dismissive of the opinions of those who are dismissive of the opinions of those that read reviews :P

Are you sure you know what this means? It's pretty tiring to see almost everyone use labels like that these days.

And it is equally tiring that people don't respect others on that point.

One has to be blind not to see misogynistic and sexist influences in games like The Witcher. There is such in Dragon Age but it has more counters and balances. Mass Effect is much better in this regard.

That doesn't mean Angry Joe is acting as such though by describing his feelings about a game or depicting what is already there. As such the term may not apply here.

I don't like him or know him enough to stand up for him personally, but in general my guess is that he is acting like a "regular dude" and hyping on his Youtube personality. I'm female, but I am reasonable and don't offend easily. I would prefer games to be a bit different but not going to stress out over something I have no control over.

We can't turn back the clock and the demand is there for such games, (apparently you need the c-word, b-word and double EEs for a successful game in some minds); one can only hope kids and young adults don't make video games their model of behavior. If such happens I imagine real life will be self-correcting towards such behavior.

Yeah 2am is a bit late to stay up to read reviews you can peruse over morning coffee, unless you're naturally a night owl and also can stay up with no penalty to your day to day life! I don't have to be up early tomorrow, so staying up until 12 isn't a big deal seeing that I usually go to bed around 11:30, but I wouldn't throw off my schedule to stay up that late. :)

I'm a bit of a night owl.  Really its going to depend on how tired I am.  I usually stay up till about 12, so it really depends on how tired I get after that.  If I get tired I'm going to bed, but since I don't have to be up tomorrow I can sleep in a few extra hours.  If I had to work tomorrow, hell yeah I wouldn't be staying up.  So really I'll just have to see how it goes.

When will you publish your review?

All else aside it's nice when other people like something you like. That's why I'll always look at reviews whether I agree with them or not.

As fan of Dragon age I'm playing Inquisition no matter what score it gets , o and this must be news to some of you but reviewers are people just like us just giving their opinion on x game just because they might say a game is a 10 doesn't necessarily mean its the case.

Here's what I predict will commonly show up in reviews (albeit tainted by my own admittedly uninformed opinions):

Pros: Great story, great characters, combat is a pleasant balance between Origins and DA2, encounter/adventure design, amazing exploration, fantastic visuals, good voice acting, romances...maybe, replayability, tons of content, exquisite music, living world, banter probably mentioned, just plain fun...

Cons: Some people will be bitter that it's not Origins 2.0, fetch quests may fall under some heat (though others have said they fit well into the overall plot, and I see it myself as well), weak platforming, mounts are an afterthought and very, very clunky, lack of guidance in huge spaces, paralyzed by choices.

Erm.

Don't expect Kotaku's review tonight -- we're just doing impressions. Kirk has played 80+ hours but he doesn't feel comfortable reviewing the game just yet. Gotta try out multiplayer and play the game with different choice combinations to see if major decisions actually have an impact on the story. Also, there are some technical complications (that you'll hear about in a few hours) that make me wonder how anyone can really feel comfortable publishing a full review in time for this embargo. I guess we'll see.

Interesting. And also big respect for them not wanting to rush a full review.

The technical complications are with the PS4, not DA, I'm pretty sure. A couple of reviewers have talked about it.

Thanks EP! That's a relief to hear. Wasn't too worried, based on the tone in that post, but still. If the problems were big ones on Bioware's end, that wouldn't bode well for the reviews/reception.

PS4 firmware 2.0 is what caused the issue. The Evolve Alpha was also unplayable for a few days on PS4 for the same reason.

Sony screwed up 2.0 real bad.

At least they are catching the PS4 issue now before release... Can't see that effecting review scores just delay the reviews on PS related sites

It's cool we can't read all that well, in general, and I only just now discovered that my keyboard is, in fact, not food.  Always learning stuff.

Don't worry
Though he might be a bit loud and use a tad crude language Joe is actually a feminist, I think. He made a video talking about the subject and defending female and/or feminist reviewers and saying that the **** they have to go through is terrible and that the industry needs wellmade female characters
Liking attractive women and admitting it is not sexist

I guess the right word for him is "immature" rather then misogynistic... He might do that stuff in reviews for satirical purposes but it comes off as vulgar and unprofessional to me... and not really that funny...
