The Awakening DLC takes place at the northeastern arling of Amaranthine but Vigil's Keep becomes the Grey Wardens' base. So what happens with Soldier's Peak and the Dryden family? It's a strong fortress on its own. If they maintain support for the Grey Wardens then what's their strategic importance to them after Vigil's Keep is rebuilt? How far is Soldier's Peak to Vigil's Keep and to Denerim?

There is ice and snow on Kilimanjaro which is practically on the Equator.

It's in the mountains, which is part of it. Second, all of Ferelden is cold.

According to the map in Origins, it's in between Amaranthine and Highever.

So we can assume that Soldier's Keep is in the mountains in the left part of this map :

third, video game logic. Being in the mountains and in a cold nation does account for it yes, but wonky geographical weather in video games also happens

Me too. Didn't Hawke's family have to travel to Gwaren to get to Kirkwall?
But according to the map it's east of the Kocari Wilds, and that would explain why it took weeks to sail to Kirkwall.
