Hey :)

What do you think which role will red lyrim have in the new game?

Lyrium is a kind of natural ressource, but different to magic. So what is it really?

Is "normal" human who is takig lyrium and is having enchanted weapons able to fight a mage equaly?

but more important: Oghren suggests that the guardian of andraste is living for hundrets of years because of the lyrium

So what do you think lyrium is able, too and what can we expect from its counterpart the red lyrium?

(sry for my english)

Red lyrium is hardly a counterpart to regular lyrium.

From what we know so far, I'd say that it's rather a more potent or 'corrupted' version of regular lyrium

Lyrium causes:

  • memory problems
  • mild insanity
  • addiction
  • death in unrefined form when contacted by a mage
  • can be used as a source of mana
  • can be used in order to enter the Fade
  • can allow for use/enhance 'paramagical abilities' (Templar skills - antimagic, causing confusion and disorienting mages, or even damaging them)

Red lyrium causes:

  • memory problems (to the point of losing your identity)
  • severe insanity
  • severe addiction
  • allows for use of 'paramagical abilities' - Meredith was able to control inanimate statues and use extremely powerful/modified versions of classical Templar talents
  • enhances user physically (Meredith's jumps, and her power, Bartrand was very formidable opponent as well, despite him being a fat noble dwarf)

Just something to add.

Spoiler

That was pretty long just thought I would give some incite/speculation to lyrium

A price I'm willing to pay for such powers. -_-  Is there any green lyrium? :P  Still I wonder if its possible to be immune to the negative effects while being able to use the positive effects?

If red lyrium really is a 'corrupted' form of regular lyrium then I'm quite interested in discovering the cause of this corruption.

Something I thought worth mentioning is how in Awakening, if you give Justice that raw lyrium ring he'll say that it has a 'beautiful song' and wishes that other spirits could hear it. It's unknown if the ring is made from regular or red lyrium, but this could mean that its effects vary depending on the recipient's nature. (e.g. Justice is a spirit, Bartrand is a dwarf.)
