Badass as Rodrik is...is he any match for Ramsay's 20 good men?

I hope they don't kill Rodrik not just because he's the most fun of the protagonists, but because he's already been killed once already. Plus GoT kind of conditions you to expect the heroes to end up dead, so it would be refreshing if they subverted that a bit by having Rodrik survive.

I just want Ramsay out of the picture.  Knowing that he has plot armor, and thus can't be beaten until Stannis comes in, really makes it a pain to deal with him as an opponent.

EXACTLY!  Why even explore options with Ramsay since you know that you are going to have to give in to his requests or get a game over?   I just replayed the series (I originally had bought it on 360, but bought an XBONE for DA: I, so now I'm transferring my Telltale playthroughs over by replaying the series).  When I got to the last scene in Episode 4, I literally groaned out loud.  I totally forgot about Ramsay showing up again.  It might just ruin the Rodrik storyline for me.

 

I hope they don't kill Rodrik not just because he's the most fun of the protagonists, but because he's already been killed once already. Plus GoT kind of conditions you to expect the heroes to end up dead, so it would be refreshing if they subverted that a bit by having Rodrik survive. 

 

Yeah, I'm definitely hoping that Rodrik survives.  I don't see them wiping House Forrester out altogether (they are book canon, after all), and I just can't see Asher or Mira leading the House either, so unless they kill all three of them off and let Talia run the House (who I actually could see surviving and ending up in a good place), I think Rodrik will make it.

My thoughts on Episode 5:

* **** that they killed off Arthur and there was nothing I could do about it because Ramsay ****** Snow has plot armor.......

* **** that they killed off Finn and the only thing that that I could about it was leaving him behind at Castle Black in Ep 4

* **** Sera for abandoning Mira despite the fact that I lied for her and helped secure that marriage proposal

* **** that they made the non-sentinel the traitor.  It was totally out of character for Royland to betray the House like he did.  Total BS writing.  But I had to kill him anyway.  He was undermining the family and putting everyone in danger.  He had to die.

* **** that they made me choose between Asher and Rodrik at the end.  I like Asher much more than Rodrik, but it just felt like Asher had fulfilled his purpose.  He'd brought the army that he promised.  And I couldn't live with myself allowing Griff ****** Whitehall to kill Rodrik after all he'd been through.  I figured that Beska could fulfill the role that Asher would play, so I made sure to tell her that she was my sister as much as any Forrester.  I'm just hoping that she'll fight the Whitehills to the end, now that we've lost three of our best warriors (Arthur, Royland, and Asher).

 

Other random thoughts:

 

* Mira's story sucked this episode.  I'm assuming that there's no way to fool Tyrion, so it felt kind of a waste.  There's no way in 7 hells that I'm using those names when I go back to Cersei.  They seem as fake as they come. 

* Amaya seems pretty badass.  I hope she plays more of a role than that big fat pit fighter played before he got skewered.

* Does Rodrik sleep with Eleana regardless of the decisions that you make?  If so, I predict that she's carrying the new Lord of Ironrath right now.

Well, well, well. I can guarantee you one thing: If the game allows it and doesn't pull a Diabolus Ex Machina aka Ramsay Bolton again there won't be a Whitehill left standing at the end. I started with the traitor and will end with that smirking bastard of a guard captain, ****** Gryff and ****** Ludd.

 

Those bastards will see what they get for making me leave Beshka without Asher!

 

And it will be majorly satisfying, I guarantee it!

 

But... knowing ASOIAF it will probably ending with House Forrester in ruins and maybe (potential) fetus Forrester by Eleana the last of the line. If she doesn't gets killed of too in the last episode.

 

But... regarding the last chapter of this episode:

To quote somebody from the Steam board who wrote what I felt:

 

 

Just as Stannis was defeated by Twenty Good Men, so were we defeated by magically appearing Whitehills.

Not only did Rodrik fail to search the conspicuously empty town - an obvious trap that he had learned about in advance - but Asher also walked straight into the middle of it, despite commenting on the strangeness of the situation.

Any sane Lord seeking to prevent an ambush would have searched the town for the aforementioned ambushers and secured the gates and walls.

Any seasoned mercenary captain would have approached a potential ambush with stealth.

And yet neither Asher nor Rodrik decided to approach the situation with anything even closely resembling caution.

 

 

The end felt way to forced to me.

• Gared missed the rabbit with his bow and arrow despite claiming to "never miss"  
• Killed the traitor (Duncan) mainly due to the fact he released Gryff and Roderik promised Talia.
• Chose Asher over Roderik. So Asher is the new lord.

 

There were a lot of character deaths in this episode Roderik, Duncan, Arthur and Finn.

*Indeed.  Didn't even try to stab Ramsay, as he's wearing his SHirtless Plot Armor under his... shirt.

*I thought the exact same thing about Finn.  

*To be fair, Sera doesn't know Mira covered for her.  BUt yeah, that sucked too.  Mira's list of allies is getting kinda thin

*You think Royce being the traitor was OOC?  I had Duncan as the traitor!  The guy who sent his own nephew to the Wall to protect the Forresters!  I stared at the screen for a good long time trying to decide if I should kill him, but was afraid doing so would mean Lud's plan would work.  Boy was Talia p*ssed.

* I left Roderick and saved Asher.  It felt more in character for me.  Roderick was there to save Asher, after all.  

 

And from a cold equations perspective, Asher could do more.

*The pit fighters will follow him, maybe not Roderick

* His relationship with Gwyn Whitehill could put an end to the feud once and for all, while Roderick's marriage to Elaena Glenmore would cost the family half their ironwood forests (Mira didn't forge the letter in my playthrough)

Roderick's death at this point could be seen as a noble sacrifice and maybe redeem him in Talia's eyes, after letting Duncan live.

 

My only regret is he didn't manage to carve his way through to Griff.

Told Tyrion the truth.  He'd pretty much figured it out anyway, and he had actually tried to help Mira, after all

Managed to kill both rabbits after saying he "gets by".  Of course the fecal matter hit the rotary impeller at that point so it didn't matter

Let Duncan live.  Couldn't take the chance he'd have information that could save Asher.

Also chose Asher over Roderick.

 

In addition:  Didn't try stabbing Ramsay (what's the point?  HE's just sic his 20 good men on me)

 

Spared Bloodsong. He's their best fighter.  Why would I want to kill the best guy on my payroll?  The audience was unimpressed, though.

Unfortunatly, yes. And all that thanks to a rather contrived and forced situation. I mean... Rodrick actually knows that there will be an ambush, while Asher mentions how strange everything in the harbour town looks. Yet both do nothing about it and promptly get ambushed. SURPRISE!

At this point I actually think that the Forresters deserve to go extinct.

 

Smells like D&D writing to me. SHOCK VALUE!

 

Oh and regarding the traitor:

The reasoning behind Duncan or Royland being the traitor seemed really half-assed.

 

I would have liked it better if the Maester or Lady Forrester were the traitor. Either one I think would have a more decent reason to betray Rodrick, such as Lady Forrester wanting to save Ryon or the Maester doing it for any number of reasons (he always seemed untrustworthy and unloyal to me).

The traitor being the non-Sentinel option seemed weak and petty. They both seemed like such loyal and decent men to House Forrester, especially the former Lord Forrester through descriptions in the game, that it just seems odd they would lose faith in Rodrick because of hard times.

 

"I tried to save the House!" - Yeah... worked out well so far, didn't it? -.-

I thought for sure that Lady Forrester was the traitor and that it was going to be Rion motivated; as in, she thought that this would be the best way to save Rion which would be hard to deal with.  I couldn't see Rodrik executing his own mother.  But, guess not......

 

I'm surprised to see how many people are picking Asher.  I have to say that it's making me second guess my pick.  I've never really wanted to a second playthrough on any Telltale game (including TWD, which I love) just to explore other choices.  I've always been satisfied with the outcomes that I've gotten.  GoT might break that record for me.  I'm going to have to seriously consider a play through where Asher survives the ambush.  I just find him a much more interesting (and charming) character.

I also think that the "Gwyn" angle might be a moot point as well.  I can easily see Asher's death at the hands of Griff as being the final straw for Gwyn.  She was already sympathetic with Rodrik and took his side in the discussion at Highpoint.  Knowing that Griff would betray the agreement and slaughter Asher might be the tipping point to get her to work from within to support Rodrik, for Asher's sake.  Maybe not completely turn on her family, but at least support us enough for us to get the upper hand if we agree to a compromise.

  I saved Asher , I didn't have to think much , Asher and Breska are my favorites.

Probably won't end well though , since Asher used to be in love with the Whitehill sister....

 

I didn't care much for the rest of the episode , everyone is just bloody annoying and you're just at the mercy of everyone.

Dealing with Ramsey , Cersei , Daenarys is all the same .They'll troll you and leave you in the dust.

I did try to kill RAmsey , I knew nothing would come out of it , but it had to be done.

It just made Ramsey even more giddy .Oh well.

 

I'm not sure what the hell is the North Grove , but at this point , it's just too late to really matter .

Possible the whole house is just going to fall apart , even if they'd survive the war with the Whitehill , winter is just around the corner , and they lost way too much to survive it .
