You pick up items in Tales from the Borderlands aswell, it doesn't make it item hunting as much as going-through-a-linear-path and pick up the conveniently placed bondoogle and rub it on a door to proceed. Checking to see if you're still awake that is.They had item hunting in the Walking Dead, even if it was pretty easy and linear. Haven't played the Wolf Among Us, so I can't comment on that.
What I'd like to see would be gameplay akin to that of the old school adventure games, where there's actually room for thinking, in order to proceed

Back to the Future had it the most.
But it was more of a straight forward point and click adventure game.
Jurassic Park had it the least though...But Jurassic Park The Game was also the worst one TellTale put out, hardly had any gameplay.
Lately their games have been a decent balance between the two game styles.
Walking Dead Season 1 probably doing it the best (Season 2 wasn't nearly as good)
Can't say anything about Tales from Borderlands, or Wolf Among Us though. Haven't played either.

Fair enough. Personally I'm not TOO concerned by its absence. They do a good job of making it feel like every conversation choice is life or death. You pick up items in Tales from the Borderlands aswell, it doesn't make it item hunting as much as going-through-a-linear-path and pick up the conveniently placed bondoogle and rub it on a door to proceed.

I found a review which makes the game sound less than promising. More or less the characters are forgettable carbon copies of the stark children.
He gave it a 5/10 and said "There are no puzzles, no pixel hunting, nothing other than conversations and quick-time events. Iron From Ice doesn’t even have much of the latter, either. Absent gripping protagonists or a different take on this already well-trodden world, it doesn’t offer very much at all. It’s basically a re-run of HBO’s show, and you can already watch that on the telly."
The guy who wrote that is an *******. I just played the thing and while there are obvious and intentional parallels to the Starks, the Forresters are a House of their own.
Now that I have finished the episode I would like to say a few things. First, show characters actually play a significant role in the story. They're not just small cameos to give the game a shallow sense of legitimacy. And being familiar with the Ice and Fire universe, the stakes feel much higher than other Telltale games not only because the fate of a whole house hangs in the balance but because you know how the game is played in Westeros and you know who some of these characters are and what they're capable of. You might think that makes the game more predictable but it doesn't really. It makes the story much more intense and decision-making more intimidating because it falls on you to deal with these people and this world now. You think you know how to handle people like Cersei and Ramsay because you know what they're like in the books and show? Get ready to prove it.
So this game felt really engrossing and heavy to me. The environment, characters, and story all feel authentic. It's like a playable episode of the show. And as Heimdall mentioned the ending will punch you in the face in that classic GoT style we all love to hate. I think this series will go far and I give this episode an easy 9/10. Can't wait for the next episode.

So I've played the first episode; overall I enjoyed it. Most of the decisions were suitably difficult, and the ending was pretty ballsy. I have to admit I did not see that coming.
I do have some quibbles, though; the game seems to be going way too heavy on bringing in established characters, especially since it looks like both Jon Snow and Daenerys are going to be making appearances in later episodes. Having the members of this one minor house meeting so many major figures in the world is a little much for my taste; it's almost like an Assassin's Cred game. I'm also still a little miffed about how it's clearly based on the show's version of events rather than the books (Jaime apparently already being at KL before Joffrey's wedding, Ramsay not yet being legitimized as a Bolton, etc.)

Anyone else finding the controls to be really freaking laggy? Also, Jaime-look-a-like guy is so going to die at the end of this episode, calling it. (I'm only ten minutes in just in case people think spoilers)

Yeah the mouse cursor was a bit slow for me. That caused me to miss a dialogue pick a little later but thankfully it didn't seem to matter much.

It completely fucked me up at the beginning but I'm starting to get used to it.

Not in the slightest. It captures the world of ASOIAF very well and has a gripping, intense, twisting storyline much like that of the books/show. It even has a shock ending like the books and show are so (in)famous for. Telltale knocked it out of the park and I'm foaming at the mouth for episode 2.

Well, they said from the beginning that it would be based on the show, hence all the characters looking like their on screen actors. So I've played the first episode; overall I enjoyed it. Most of the decisions were suitably difficult, and the ending was pretty ballsy. I have to admit I did not see that coming.

I'm hoping they'll be able to get away from the big names on the show as the season goes on. It makes sense to meet Jon at the Wall at least. Asher is supposed to be a mercenary, so I'm guessing he's wrapped up in Dany's current campaigns, but if he's coming back that won't be for long. With Mira it totally makes sense, seeing as she's Margery (However you spell her name) Tyrell's handmaiden. I'm guessing Varys is going to be involved in that plotline eventually.

Great story in this first episode. Even being a big fan of the franchise i didn't expect the ending to go down like that.

I'm a huge ASOIAF nut so I'm glad it's getting a good response.
Will wait for episode 6 to come out before getting it.
I still remember how much waiting for TWAU and TWDS2 killed me.

I liked it better than Walking Dead Season 2s first episode.
Ramsey Snow is still a PoS though.
Anyone reading the books, he dies a horrible agonizing death right?

I just finished the first episode of Telltale's GoT series. Damn. That was awesome.
I really got the feel of Westeros in it, so they're nailing it. Seems to follow the show's events closer than the books themselves, so its definitely more GoT than ASOIAF.
My decisions,
ASHER'S ON THE WAY AND HE GONNA BE MAAAAAD
