I think Rodrik is pointless. He is just another physically weak Lord Forrester. What could he bring to the game that Ethan couldn't? It feels like Telltales wanted to end Episode 1 on a shocking note but then didn't want to write about House Forrester where both heirs are either exiled or imprisoned and then decided to just bring someone who would serve the same purpose as Ethan back.

Who sent Damien? From a purely out of character perspective, I'm thinking Margaery simply for the shock value. Also, it would make sense. What does Mari Forrester offer her? Nothing, she just creates tension with Cersei. Better to have her eliminated.

From incharacter perspective, maybe Joffrey. It is his style. I just don't see a reason for him to do so if we didn't plead with Margaery to intervene on our behalf in Episode 1.

I am admittedly still a bit disappointed Ethan's story got ended so fast. He had a lot of potential. Thirdborn son, runt of the litter when compared to Rodrik and Asher, coming into his own as a great lord. Could have been good, but I guess the first episode needed that shocking tragic ending to get us hooked. 

 

Still, I really like Rodrik. My favourite playable character by far. And the personal vendetta he now has against Whitehills everywhere.

I'm hoping for a scene where a still partially-crippled Rodrik kicks that tubby bastard's arse. Not holding my breath, but hoping. :S

Gared is probably my favourite right now.

Which is odd because when I first read the books, King's Landing were my favourite parts.

 

I think it's half wishing to form bonds of comradeship and have them tested in combat and half him being the only one right now(beyond Asher) not being entirely at someone's else mercy.

Gared is actually the one I'm least interested in; his whole plotline just feels too much like Jon Snow 2.0 to me (and I know this is an unpopular opinion, but Jon Snow is one of my less favourite POV characters in the books).

Agreed.  I think it's interesting that, to me, Mira is the least interesting protagonist, but is involved in my favorite side story.  I like Asher and Rodrick the most.  Gared and the Wall is a dud.  It really does feel like Snow v2.0 to me. 

 

What does everyone think about the fifth POV character?  Was it Ethan?  Or was he a red herring just for shock value and there will be a new protagonist introduced in an upcoming episode?  My gut is the latter because the opening screen shows the four protagonists together and then rotates through each of them with their setting in the background.  If Ethan was the fifth, I'd think  he'd be there, even if he was dead.

Haha!  I had the same thought with Tyrion about how he might be impressed knowing Mira's willing to take risks, and then my thoughts going the same way.  Also same with forging the letter.

 

I also don't think there'll be a fifth PoV character.  We've got eyes everywhere in the story at this point: Wall, Ironrath, King's Landing, and Essos.

As for Rodrick, while I think there're problems with it, they did have it planned from the start.  They purposely had him say no lines and his character model in the second episode briefly appears in the first.

His voice actor did do a damned good job. Loved this little bit when speaking to his betrothed; 

 

"I know, I'm unspeakably handsome."

"Good to see you haven't lost your sense of humour."

"No, just two limbs, and half my face..."

Yeah.  Rodrick to me definitely has the best voice actor out of all the PoV characters.

 

Here's my episode choices/thoughts.

Just played through the episode!  I'm assuming we're not using spoiler tags...

Choices:

1. Didn't Forge Letter - Figured a forgery from House Tyrell could be pretty easily found out.  Was pretty funny when Serra talked about how she was hoping you'd be something more exciting.

2. Killed the Legion guy - I mean.....they're going to be mad no matter what.  Heck, it wasn't even shown in the final choices.

3. Stood up for Cotter - More I was silent and didn't tell on him....

4. Drank wine with Serra - Unwisely, I honestly think she isn't a spy at the moment.  She could be lying about her story, but I think she's just a friend now.  Of course, that doesn't mean she'd spill her guts if Cersei arranged a marriage for her like she did with Bronn.

5. Got a marrage with Elaena - You have to offer half your ironwood in order to secure it.  It doesn't specifically say that, but once she started talking about how her family had to be practical, I figured offering something was the only way to secure it.

6. Didn't kiss his ring - Rodrick's a lord.  He can't just bow to every whim.  What's next?  He becomes Whitehill's pleasure servant?  Plus, he'd look weak in front of Elaena.  Felt good when she said she was glad he didn't do it.

7. Killed the Lannister guard - Guy was sent to kill me and the coal boy could be a valuable ally.

8. Tossed the knife - Actually thought about this.  I'd rather keep it and throw it away somewhere better, but I don't know if I can do that later on.  If they connect Mira with the knife left there, I figured I could play the innocent handmaiden routine and talk about how a handmaiden could possibly overpower a guard.

 

As far as storylines go, I'd say I enjoyed Rodrick's and Mira's story the best so far.  I really like watching Rodrick's struggle (I also think he has the best voice actor) and Mira playing at politics.  They've done a good job at the wall so far, and I thought having Jon talk about the red wedding with Gared was a really good addition.  Asher seems cool, but he hasn't really had the chance to do much yet.  Overall, I liked this episode better than the first one.

 

Prediction-wise, considering how Tyrion will be put in prison soon and he talked about his father taking an interest in ironwood, I'm guessing we'll have to negotiate with Tywin at some point.  Charles Dance is also voicing Emhyr in Witcher 3, so he's not averse to voice-acting in games.

Well so far I've enjoyed it quite well. Nothing overly dramatic, but there is certainly potential for it to go into interesting directions both in terms for the narrative and the characters. Though it depends on how restricted it will be in terms of the show, I would guess.

Since so many people are cheering for him to knock Whitehill down a notch...I wouldn't be surprised if that doesn't happen, and he gets Robb Stark'd. In truly GOT fashion. 

 

...just a hunch. :/

I kind of have a feeling they might subvert the expectation that the hero always dies in GoT, by having Rodrik go the distance. At this point I think that would actually more unpredictable than having him die. 

 

Either way I'd bet on Asher, Malcolm, and Lady Forrester not making it. Perhaps Ryon as well, though he might end up a determinant. And I think both choices for Sentinel will be dead before the end.

I can see Talia getting offed, too. Because her and Rodrik are obviously very close, perhaps not to the extent of her and Ethan, but still. That kind of thing is just screaming 'ruin me.'
