Actually you need to be online to play. Few days ago i wasn't able to play the singleplayer from ME3 because EA servers were down.

Didn't knew about Dead Space 2... O_o

Since when do you need to be online to play ME3 single-player? I thought you just had to go into offline mode on Origin and you're in.

You need to be online in order for it to verify that you have the DLC I believe, but you could still technically play the base game. In general though, like Steam, you just need to be logged in to play games (unless they are online only).

You also cant load saves with the dlcs, which pretty much make it impossible to keep playing (unless you want to try the newgame option).

It used to be worse,  by the time of the release the authentication process would take about 30-40 seconds and it would repeat everytime you enter the main menu.

Now it only happens once and the time is a lot lower...

Ugh, authentication. Forgot about that  :pinched:

I'm just hoping with Spike TV out of the picture that "The Game Awards" will actually focus on the games rather than lame jokes, awkward banter between hosts, cumbersome commercials and sponsors, and out of place and strange concert productions. VGX was absolute trash and the only VGA that was decent was 2010 when we had the world premieres of Skyrim, Mass Effect 3, and Batman: Arkham City, as well as Read Dead Redemption winning Game of the Year with a live performance of the game soundtrack to commemorate its success.

That's the kind of quality and attention-grabbing that The Game Awards should try to reach. Admittedly, that's hard to do when you don't have a lot of highly-anticipated titles to reveal, which is why Geoff really needs to put more emphasis on the awards part and paying homage to the games and studios that win awards for their masterpieces. There is a lot of room for improvement and with the corporate suits of Spike TV out of the picture, maybe we can finally have a show on what we all really care about: the games. Whether the next Mass Effect is there or not, I just want the show to actually be worth watching. It's only on once a year.

Hear, hear. 2010's was a halfway decent affair. Subsequent years were not. VGX was... one of the most painful things I've watched in years.

Hehe, well, I feel like I should make a postmortem "I figured this'd be the case, but it was a nice thought, regardless" statement. :P Oh well. It was a much better show than the VGAs!

Should be interesting to hear TB's and Angry Joe's opinion's on it, though its safe to say its probably better than last year.

The show has promise. Geoff is essentially trying to make a video game version of the Oscars. My only issue is that the show really lacked substance in terms of strong titles. By in large, many of the reveals and trailers were either Indie games or Nintendo titles, neither of which are relevant to most of the gaming community. I think with a solid foundation and a proven model, Geoff will be able to build off of this and AAA developers and publishers may start strategizing to use the show as a way of promoting new games.

Part of the reason VGA 2010 was so memorable was because of the world premieres of Batman: Arkham City, Mass Effect 3, and Skyrim all in the same show. Geoff really needs to get a strong line-up of games that he can show off to generate interest and bring in that "wow" factor. That might be difficult when industry giants will typically lean on E3 for major reveals and updates, but I believe this show actually will have a future going forward as it was much better than most of the VGAs and VGX that Spike TV produced.
