Lol my inquisitor won't be babying cole. The guy will be lucky to get into the inquisition. I'll have a keen eye on him because every good mage knows that all spirits are one step away from being demons.

I see him more as an alien, than a child. Both children and aliens have to learn new things, but it's different.

It's how I viewed Justice too.

Nah, Mass Effect proved that aliens underneath it all, are no different from regular people. I'd say that Cole is more like Legion.

Now lets not smother the spirit inhabiting the dead body, He's a grown dead man. He can rot after himself.

You sir have made me laugh.

I love Cole and his character.

I don't want to baby him, I want to understand him and hear his story in game.

1st lets move this conversation into Cole thread. Thats really only proper place to have it.

Yeah, but character threads can turn into character squee threads where any criticism of said character can lead to ructions

I just realized that all this weird weariness and distrust towards Cole stems from the Anders/Justice betrayal. I thought it was solely because of Cole's role in Asunder, but I didn't know how damaged some of us have become after the Kirkwall Chantry disaster.

not all of it but some. Its a wide spectrum. Plus his actions in asunder are grey at best.

Personally i like cole... and seriously our party members and PCs do a lot worse than "mercy kills"

I have two theories on Cole, one he is either something we have never seen before in this world till now and is truely something unique that can still be effected by the litany.

Or two, he is a fear Demon. remember demons express the vary emotion they represent vary strongly, and cole is if one thing is always afraid, causing it or being effected by it.

Andraste's arse what is wrong with you people

Spoiler

He might be linked to Andraste . Just saying...
Murderers are Sera and Bull and Zevran. He is mercy killer and now he is selfless spirit combined with martyr.
Did you read interview about him? Saw his second card?

For quite sometime there were creepy superficial people on this forum. The only way they could imagine interacting with companions was ****** them. Each time  someone new was revealed it was always the same questions "can I **** him/her" or "can I **** him with a male/female"  or they would exclaim "please be gay!".When cole was revealed the same questions surfaced, but they were reprimanded by Gaider himself since Cole has a childlike mentality."There is more to our characters than their sexuality" Bioware said.

Without the ability to treat him like a sex object ,they needed a new way to be creepy, there was a consensus among them that they would baby him instead.

I truly doubt that is going to happen,Cole is a spirit,he naturally has a very rudimentary personality and identity ,like Justice.

He has many questions.

This does not mean he is looking for someone to teach him how to catch fish and play the guitar.

In fact we will probably learn much more from Cole than he will from us.(very similar to legion in the ME series )

If you judge him by Asunder without any knowledge/relation to what he is DA:I we have nothing to talk about. I will leave you with your knowledge but you will reveal he is one of most positive heroes in DA:I. This is not guess. This is fact, and, if you play as killer and assquisitor he leaves first, and if you help innocent, and act as super-martyr he starts to like you. He is very different from Assunder. He is same actually, but undergone serious transformation, and character should be judged only by his transformation, not just by certain point of his story. And his transformation is admirtable in DA:I, because he came from darkness into the light, while many characters have tendency and do opposite.

Ah, and you probably have really hard life if your arse is mercy killer.

you're suggesting his past actions simply don't matter because now he's a nice person? it does matter a flying f what his relation to DA:I is, it can not ever excuse the taking of innocent life and I wonder about anyone trying justify his actions with the reasoning of oh it's ok he's nice now

I did not suggested such thing, i think your perciving of things is wrong. I said that anyone should be judged by whole complex of actions and things , and transformations he undergone. If we compare murderer who been sentenced, and after been freed from jail did alot of good things, with some rebellous student who become terrorist and blow some church with innocent people, or with simple bandits who do not change and been murderers during all their story we will see what differencies are. And the fact the character undergone transfromation from darkest deeps into brightest lights is manifestation of his strong personality, it is easy to fall down, but to climb up towards light is very hard work which need serious motivation and dedication and empathy.

What i do i just reminding that he is much better, and much much better, than majority of companions in dragon age series, if you consider his personality and what he COULD become in DA:I, because you can not ingore this. Past alone, without present does not matter, because if we check past of majority of characters we will find very controversal things almost for everyone.

Noone told he is nice generally, but yes he become nice in DA:I, and that fact changes things, because he trying to fix things, compensate and make world better place. You cant put him even on same bench with Isabella , Zevran, Sera, Iron Bull and few more. He is somewhat close to Sten in that regard, and considering his possible ending point, better than Sten.

Again it might be spoilery but there might be  some connection between Herald and his holy power and Cole.

I have never read Asuner so I'm only going by what he looks like and what little I've read but...

HE'S JUST SOOOO CUUUUUTTEEEE and I am slightly unhappy he is not romanceable.

A cole romance would be a 2 in one problem, necrophillia and pedophilia into one.

You treat him as if he is a human. He is not a sentient being in the same manner that we are. It's like getting legion to "cheer up and break out of his shell". What shell?

Cole mentions this in a conversation. The inquisition is like a spirit.People speak of it as if it is a person, but it is only real as long as it has something real to make it,and like a spirit,it is not as complex as a person.

Cole has his own thoughts, feelings. desires and personality. That makes him sentient. True, he is not human but that doesn't mean you shouldn't treat him as a person. And come on, Cole is one of the most complex characters in the DA lore. He's way beyond random rage demon nr 23517.

But you go ahead and treat him as a thing in your game, I'm not going to stop you.

I haven't read Asunder but what I've heard about him makes me want to chuck him back into the Fade and be done with him. Not just because he's a murderer, but mainly because he's a spirit (or a demon, doesn't matter) and has no business in the real world.
