but any rogue with cunning as the primary stat would survive just about every fight with as much ease.

You're not kidding. Rogues only have it tough until they unlock the shadow spec and decoy with it. At that point, winning becomes nearly effortless even on nightmare.

It would be really interesting if someone does a Solo play on Nightmare taking down a Dragon

That's easy in DA2, the high dragon is SOOOOOO much wimpier than the DAO high dragon. I've done it as every single class in DA2. Warriors had it the hardest thanks to no ranged attacks. Lots of hit and run needed for warriors.

Some people will solo dai with all classes, it's just a question of time. I'm not interested in soloing in a party based game but some players love challenge. Albeit I'm interested in soloing in DAMP after loving it in ME3MP.

1.) I have yet to see a video, admittedly i might of missed it, where once a mission is selected on the war table, then the cards appear to select your companions, that selecting none is an option.

2.) Brand new game i know but any guesses as to which class might be able to accomplish a solo run?

devs force us to have at least 1 rogue and 1 warrior..without them you cant bash some stupid wall or gate with you leg or open a chest

and some enemies may have immunity to magic or warriors or rogue attacs

this makes me angry..and if  script mods can deal with closed chests i do not think they will deal with walls(but who knows this is still a script ability and not depend on you strength or other stuff)...but at least i have blackwall for that and i will try to get him sooner to get rid of cassandra

with rogues i have varrick and sera

It says "Are you sure you want to leave without a full party?" Or words to that effect, so you can do it.

Never saw the appeal of soloing in a party based game myself. Is it an epeen thing? No offence intended just interested in what makes a soloer tick.

Just because it is party based doesn't mean that everyone enjoys partying in it. Some people will still have more fun when playing it with one lone wolf character.

Also playing it solo vastly ramps up the difficulty which is super awesome for some people.

This really gets me. A mage using her magic could bash a door with way more force than any mundane warrior ever could.

She could also use her magic to blow apart or melt the components in a lock.

So a mage should be able to open everything all by herself.

Its early to talk about it. With new potion system it may be that solo playing is not viable anymore. They may raised the complexity of nightmare with this system. Let's see how nightmare handles. I will play with limit of 2 companions only. And further limitation won't be viable if either new potion/no heal system raises complexity/ challenge cap or certain areas/plot lines require both rogue and warrior and mage in the party

Rogue, I'd say. For that teleporting + healing device they get.

No, that isn't it. (Thanks for the suggestion, though!) I distinctly remember a locked door that was impossible to open without a rogue. Watch it turn out to be from Origins or something... *horrible memory*

ETA: Aha! Faith (Act 3). Not exactly main quest, I admit, but still need a rogue. http://dragonage.wik...i/Faith_(quest)

The entire point with Faith is that you're supposed to have Sebastian in your party when you go to that door(it's a companion quest, after all)...

That said, Faith is not a quest that requires completion if one wants to beat the game... And no one in their right mind should expect the game to allow a player to have access to all content if they only have one class in their party.  If the game has been made properly, then every locked door(or other obstacle) that exists in the game, can be overcome, regardless of party makeup, if what's behind the obstacle is required to complete the game.  This has been the case in DAO and DA2.  There's nothing to suggest that it won't be the case in DAI...

I just interpreted it as every locked door encountered is warded like the one in the basement of Ferelden's Circle. So that no mage can use magic to break it down... Maybe it's part of the "standard installation package" for locksmiths?

After watching the new IGN video I think for a mage, Knight Enchanter is probably the best for a mage solo.

I vote Knight Enchanter.

After watching the ign video, Vivienne kicks butt .

As a knight enchanter you can build up barrier whilst attacking, you have access to resurgence, mobility with fade step, evasion with fade step and fade cloak (both can be used offensively) and you can cast spells from a distance.

Its awesome.
