I don't give a damn about numbers or DPS. I judge it based on practical usage.

 

To get the best out of raptor, I need to keep clicking the mouse button so fast that it hurts my fingers, and while doing this rapid clicking I need to keep my aim stable and steadily on the enemy's head (and being a pathetic wittle human, I can't pull that off regularly). Unlike ARs, I can't even hip-fire without incurring a penalty. Then there's the tunnel vision aspect. I land 2 shots on a marauder's head before I am forced to relocate to escape from the banshee.

 

Now, take the eviscerator into account. Fairly accurate with smart choke, ADS not a must and hard hitting single shot. So, ya, I'd say the eviscerator is so much better.

The Raptor is actually pretty damn close to being as useless as the shuriken. And that's saying something.

Shuriken and Katana are the worst.

 

I like the Predator with AP ammo..but can only use for a couple matches before getting a tired finger.   it is awesome whilst you got the high trigger speed.

I think the primary problem with the raptor you have is called "operator error". Math is not on your side here, humans. Raptor is a great weapon considering it is an uncommon. I think it even has higher sustained DPS than its Ultra Rare analouge, the Indra. That isn't everything but based on potential damage output alone, it can't possibly even be considered close for worst weapon.

It's certainly better than the Eviscerator, which can't even headshot a gold marauder unless you are practically in melee range, defeating the whole purpose of even using a shotgun as a high risk/ high reward weapon. Then you have other trash like the katana and scimitar, avenger, shuriken, phalanx, and vindicator. If I used any of those on my quarians, I'd probably end up attempting to bludgeon things to death with them around wave 3 as a means to make them kill faster.

Honorable mentions to Vindicator and Eviscerator

 

Worst rare by a couple universes - Hornet. Unlocked this as my first rare weapon on an account and it sucked in the same ballpark as the Shurken

No. Eviscerator with smart choke has a fairly good accuracy. I have used it on a lots of classes and never felt any problem with accuracy. I have headshot enemies at medium range. Your statement applies to raider, not eviscerator.

 

Edit: just checked cyonan's spreadsheet and the accuracy stats for wraith and eviscerator are the same. And wraith is one of the more accurate shotguns.

I've broken 200k with the Raptor, Hornet, and Shuriken in teams of pretty decent Gold PUGs.

 

There is no proper answer but the Vindicator, and I stand by this statement. Forever and always craptatisticular. Yes. I combined crap and testicular. Because it's like getting kicked in the balls by a spiky boot covered in excrement. For the wielder. I'd honestly rather drop the damn thing and go full on fisticuffs.

I fail to see the relevance of such a quote when applied to a virtual universe wherin things perform in exactly the manner in which they were coded and are completely unaffected by external variables other than operator input (IE, not reality)

The flaws can be partially mitigated if you play your cards right.

- Movement speed penalty? Just carry a second gun. Spitfire only slows you while held in your hands. (Untested with missiles)
- Krogans get slowed less than most Spitfire wielders.

- Heavy weight? Use it on a 6/6/0/6/6 armor/grenade class!

- Low damage? Sure, but it has a ton of ammo and if you can hang back and use it safely at long range, it works well enough.

 

Is it bleh for a UR? Sure. But this is about worst weapon, and I'd take the spitfire on a power class before the goddamn Vindicator.

Yes, you subjectively don't like the raptor. Hypothetically, I could subjectively say that I think Reegar is the worst weapon in the game despite insane DPS, its visuals give me a minitue long epilleptic siezure everytime I fire and thus I can do more damage with a shuriken. That wouldn't actually make the Reegar the worst weapon in the game.

As for the eviscerator, the accuracy is irrelevant when it fires birdshot or something and needs every pellet to hit to do meaningful damage. If Dick Cheney were armed with an eviscerator back when he shot that guy in the face, the latter would have been uninjured and it wouldn't have even appeared in the news.

I beg to differ. I regularly take the Hornet on my HA in Plat and it works just fine. It also works on HI, TSol and probably quite a few other classes I have not yet thought to use it on.

 

And if we're comparing Rares, there are many others which are much, much worse - Collect Assault Rifle, GPR, Carnifex, Krysae...

Big flaws and niche gun for sure, but also high sustained dps. I just used it today in a gold match, on the Jugg, with the following setup : extended barrel, piercing mod, assault rifle amp (gear bonus), assault rifle amp 2 and incendiary rounds 3, and I could one-clip an Atlas, what is kinda good.

I quite enjoy the Shuriken.

Phalanx: I use it for lightweight incin-ammo spreading on my otherwise Falcon knockback monster sol whenever she's out of ammo, with no decrease in recharge speed - decent clip, fires relatively fast - sure, damage is lacking but what do you expect with such a light handgun? Assuming you've got a primary damage dealer, it's not the worst filler you could take.

 

Krysae Sniper Rifle? Love it - because it's a SR version of the Falcon - AoE Knockback & Effect Spread on a detonation spammer? Yes please - but I wouldn't take it unless the character I was choosing made better use of SR vs AR.

 

Honestly - Some people put too much emphasis on raw damage. I enjoyed the Reegar up until I realized it was pretty much the most over-used gun in the game which put me right off. That isn't to say I love running around equipping sub-par intentionally, just certain things wreck my game enjoyment. I'd like to think being a good player means being sufficient at the game no matter what type of weapons you're holding, as opposed to succeeding only because you equip merely the best, or most damaging.

 

I want to like the Revenant, I really do... But that abomination, even when going full auto into the mouth of an enemy to bypass it's obscene spray, just doesn't seem to help much.

 

Ultimately I don't care as much about damage so long as I can perform 'something' with the weapon. If it's a case of mediocre damage at no major weight cost to spam abilities, or at least spread ammo effects for constant detonations, I'm happy enough in most cases. Back when I was spamming my SalEngy with Shuriken X / Predator X in my "Still unlocking decent weapons" phase, I still outperformed some people rocking much more popular stuff - but I didn't stick around too long to keep testing it consistently.

 

They may not be the best, but they're functional at least if you can put damage on the shelf for a second. In fact, half tempted to grab a character and just roll with Pred/Shuriken and see if I don't get kicked, enough to give it another few tests

Well, this is a subjective thread.

 

The Human adept is good with any light weapon; that's certainly not due to the weapon in question however. The other 2 kits you mentioned have either TC or are Turian, hence massive, massive buffs to weapons with these powers / kit.

 

There are many bad rares, IMO the Hornet is far and away the worst .. CAR is way ahead.

 

Again, using it at level X with a level 3 amp and a level 4 ammo, and whaddya know, it's half decent!
