CAR and GPR are perfectly decent weapons if you can aim. They're not great, but they're far from total crap. Only idiots judge weapons based on DPS alone. Those weapons have good accuracy and make it possible (but up to the player) to land consistent headshots from a good distance.

Shuriken is the worst weapon in the game, which is sad because it was one of the best CQB guns in ME2 if used correctly.  Hornet is pretty similar in function to the ME2 Shuriken.  As such the only way to make good use of the Shuriken in this game is to mod coalesced.

 

I agree with some of the above posters wrt Vindicator and Raptor.  The Vindicator doesn't give enough practical damage unless it is on a Turian with stability bonus and extra headshot damage.  In that case it becomes passable on Gold, but that isn't saying a lot.

 

Raptor got some buffs, but the problem is that it still isn't quite worth using except on an Infiltrator, and you are bound to miss too many headshots if you try to fire at close to max ROF.

 

Viper is indeed better than both of the above mainly because the big damage buffs and low stat rate of fire make it a good headshot - ammo applying gun for casters.  Not great against bullet sponges though, but good against humanoids.

Shuriken and Katana are the worst.

 

I like the Predator with AP ammo..but can only use for a couple matches before getting a tired finger.   it is awesome whilst you got the high trigger speed.

Katana is an OK handle for the omni blade. With nice ammo I actually take it for Gold sometimes.

I like the Raptor better than some other sniper rifles. It's light, comes with lots of ammo, and has a low hipfire penalty. I use it with a click macro though.

I beg to differ. I regularly take the Hornet on my HA in Plat and it works just fine. It also works on HI, TSol and probably quite a few other classes I have not yet thought to use it on.

 

And if we're comparing Rares, there are many others which are much, much worse - Collect Assault Rifle, GPR, Carnifex, Krysae...

lolwut. the carnifex was one of the best weapons in the game for a good chunk of the games life. even with the power creep that eventually came in, it is still a pretty useful weapon that doesn't need to be prefaced with "on a turian" or "on a GI" for it to be any good.

Interesting to see that you say that. Not sure why everyone rags on the Katana. It's no Claymore, but there are 5 rounds and it shoots straight and will kill stuff.

I've broken 200k with the Raptor, Hornet, and Shuriken in teams of pretty decent Gold PUGs.

 

There is no proper answer but the Vindicator, and I stand by this statement. Forever and always craptatisticular. Yes. I combined crap and testicular. Because it's like getting kicked in the balls by a spiky boot covered in excrement. For the wielder. I'd honestly rather drop the damn thing and go full on fisticuffs.

Breaking 200K and using the weapon are two different things. If you don't at least get a 50 kill weapon medal what is the weapon actually doing? I can work with the Raptor and the Hornet just fine, but if I'm playing with the Shuriken and my team is decent then it's going to be hard for me to score 200k without rocketing and playing around that galactic piece of dog feces. 

 

The Vindicator on the other hand I've used and did fine with it. I used it on the campaign though a lot so I have a fondness for the weapon.

Katana actually is similar to the Claymore in shot pattern. It's decent on the AIU and GI. Not really that painful at all to get the challenge done with it. There are no bad shotguns in this game IMO.
