Probably not, romance dialogue and interaction in BioWare games, and games in general to be fair, is generally hit or miss.

Furthermore, the romances scenes are usually portrayed as the culmination of the romance arc, and therefore a pay off for participating in the romance content.

I think the romance arc itself is the payoff for participating in the romance content. Besides, if past games are anything to go by, it'll probably look awkward as all hell. xD

To be honest I'm not entirely sure why I'm arguing this side of the argument so much. I did think the DA2 romance scenes were somewhat lacking. I just don't want it to go too far the other way. That's not why I play these games.

even if it's fan service. I'm not a fan of shaming people for enjoying the content.

I didn't realzing expressing a desire for it to not be in a game equaled shaming those who want it.

well said. Sometimes people forgot that it's a game. Not everything is a social statement. People find it entertaining so it's there. No need to explain why it needs to be titillating. There are games without it just as there are games with it.

People also find it off-putting. For example, I love the romance subplots for the stories told with them. I do not like looking at naked people. So having a sex scene that has nudity in it is not entertaining for me and dampends the romance subplot.

I think the romance arc itself is the payoff for participating in the romance content.

Agreed.

I'll never understand why breasts are such a big deal. They're sacks of flesh used to provide infants with milk. There should be no difference between a woman going shirtless and a man going shirtless.

And neither should be considered "wrong."

I'm perfectly aware what the female breasts are, but on the right looking young adult female woman they always look amazingly attractive and amazingly sexy to me folks, they are the things that greatly define "womanhood"!

Agreed.

Good for you. The game is not made for you, but for the masses. Many people have been demanding for more nude scene. I like this new direction Bioware takes. I hope it stays that way.

Many people have also been either fine with how the scenes were and wanted them to stay that way or have been wanting them to actually not have them. But screw those masses because you aren't part of them, right?

And before you go "Well, same goes to you.", I know it sounds hypocritical. All arguments about subjective things do. But objectively, there are no benefits and are downsides to having it.

And I'm sure most straight women would say the same thing about a man's chest.

But no, breasts are not what define "womanhood." Considering a lot of woman don't have them, that's incredibly insulting.

You meant to use 'subjective' there again, because this is your opinion not a fact.

Nevermind the fact that there are plenty of people applauding this step on BW's part. So, clearly, there are benefits to their choice to include more realistic intimacy scenes.

No, I didn't. I can point out the objective downsides. Please point out the objective benefits.

What are the objective downsides?

For starters, there will be people who will not buy the game because it has nudity. So sales will be objectively hurt. Maybe not by much, but still.

Every game runs that risk with anything they do, Bioware's change to healing probably probably did the same

By that logic, objectively, they shouldn't have included combat, then. Or magic. Or black people. Or gay people. Or Cullen.

And people can say that having the new healing system in the game is objectively bad because of that.

Technically, those are all valid complaints if the person is backing them with objective reasons. But Bioware doesn't care about those complaints enough to stop doing what they want to do in their games.

And obviously they don't care about nudity, either.

I know they don't. It wouldn't be in the game otherwise. But that doesn't mean those who are against it being in there should just shut up about it.

Look, you don't like the nudity. That's fine. I think your wrong and overly prudish, but whatever, that's your bag.

Calling it objectively bad is what I take most offense to, though. Because it's, as I just demonstrated, patently ridiculous.

I consider the term prude a compliment, so thank you.

You didn't demonstrate anything being patently ridiculous. You demonstrated that things can have objective downsides to them.

No more milquetoast sex scenes. Just showing nudity is a more convincing solution than the Depends sheltering us from naughty bits. That, or a romantic interlude and fade to black.

Well if they don't like something Whether it be  nudity, Cullen, etc. in their games then they shouldn't buy it, No one is forcing them to buy this game so why force their opinions on everyone else.
