I wish people in this thread could be respectful with their posts instead of either veiled (or outright) insults or looking for ways to be offended.

I'm sorry I just find it very hard to take people who are made uncomfortable by natural body parts seriously. Its like saying noses deeply offend you and asking for an ability to toggle noses off

How much will non-armored pants really protect you from sword blows? Especially if your center of mass isn't armored.

Well, they're made of leather. So they're kinda armoured.

And I don't know. I just feel like pants bring her outfit together better than no pants. It's just more... stylish.

I don't think it's quite so simple as that.

Society doesn't have weird taboos and hangups about noses. It does, however, have them for sex and nudity. Not saying I agree with that (I, in fact, disagree quite a bit) but I can at least see where it comes from.

Society has hangups and taboos about killing people but oddly I dont see any threads where people are upset there is no option to simply sweet talk every single enemy you meet.

There is no society hang up about seeing boobs, either, after having sex with someone. 1658 was a long, long, long, time ago.

About nudity... I think Kim Kardashian has it covered this week.

It's ironic that I phrased it that way.

There is a societal hangup about showing it in media, however.

Again, I think that it's totally ridiculous, but it's a thing that exists.

Indeed. Can we avoid insults, generalizations and "weaponizing" therapy? I mean geez. Having an opinion on a videogame doesn't mean you need counseling, and needing counseling doesn't mean anything other than you're a human being trying to work out your life.

I'm not even sure what the focus of this thread is anymore.

Anyway, I think it's possible to convey intimacy and vulnerability without nudity. I also think that that's an effective way to do it. I feel bad for the people who will not enjoy seeing that. I hope it doesn't effect your overall experience too much.

Personally, I am more glad that the focus on sexuality in this game is (contrary to some posts here lmao) less "boobs everywhere" and more "women as people." It seems more respectful overall, therefore I'm not as anxious about the nudity. If ME3, for example, had announced this, I would have rolled my eyes so hard they'd fall out my head.

You haven't seen enough media if you think these things matter outside of a minority in a Mature rated title

Bah. I find this barely more tasteful than the "make Isabela white" mod.

You mean that mod actually exists?

This is a game aimed at mature audiences, if you are going to freak out about some minor skin.....don't play it.

Meh, don't care much about that one, its not canon in any way shape or form, if people want everyone to look like they popped out of Germany ca.1940 that is their prerogative.

A recent episode of The Walking Dead almost had to get censored because it included a single, small sex scene. One where breasts weren't even shown.

It may be a minority, but it's a very vocal minority.

The Walking Dead is TV-14, which is the only reason it's on basic cable. What is your point?

Are you referring to the Telltale game? Or the actual show?

I was wondering because I know that in The Wolf Among Us, there are bare breasts at a strip club. But that entire graphic novel series is full of nudity, so it made sense.

Walking Dead is TV-MA, actually.

My point is that if a TV show can almost get censored because of a minor, non-explicit sex scene, there are definitely at least a few loud voices who don't want sex and nudity in media.

No it's not. TV-MA programs can't be released on basic cable, not to mention I'm looking at it right now.

And again, that is basic cable television whose oldest audience member only has to be 14.

Ah.

Strange that anyone would get bent out of shape over something like that in the show. What channel is that one on... AMC? Plus, it's mature-rated anyway. Plus, isn't anyone ever disturbed by how comfortable people are with brutal violence, but god forbid we see a woman's nipple?

AMC changed the rating from TV14 to TVMA. You are both technically correct. There is a "family friendly" version.

And there's this:

http://www.twcondema...mc/walking-dead

"The Walking Dead launched on AMC with a TV-14 rating in 2010 and grew to become TV’s top-rated drama among adults 18-49. But after protest from parents group the Parents Television Council claiming that rating was far too lenient for the show’s graphic content, AMC switched TWD rating last year to the stricter TV-MA."

I just looked it up. Walking Dead was originall rated TV-14 for the first two and a half seasons, but has been TV-MA since the second half of Season 3.

Does it matter? How does this invalidate my point in any way? The show obviously isn't actually meant for kids that young, anyway. Nor are Mad Men, or Breaking Bad.

You are being willfully obtuse. Stop.

It still goes by the same guidelines as the rest of basic cable, so it still has to follow them, unfortunately. Especially since it comes on at 9 o'clock

Yes it matters since a mature video game is played by a 17 year old at the youngest if you follow the actual rating and thus not the audience that the minority cares about. The point. Don't really care if you like it. Get over yourself.
