I, personally, would be perfectly happy to have Actual Nudity in any game that I purchased that had an M rating for NUDITY. Seems silly to me to know that's what ESRB is gonna rate it and then to not take advantage of the full spectrum if it could be done art and animation-wise.

I'm thinking the devs just don't want to.  Not because of any sort of sense of political correctness, but it might not interest them.  Or they might think it doesn't go with the game.   They may be able to do it, they just don't want to.  <shrug>

 

I can definitely see why some folks might want full-frontal nudity for DA games.  It isn't for me, but I won't be offended or anything as long as it's equal among both genders.

CDPR has already admitted to handly the sex cards in TW1 poorly and they were not implemented correctly. The fact people continue to hound on this when that game was released seven years ago...

 

What's so funny about CDPR willing to do what few others will do? BioWare included.

 

 

 

 

1; Yes, I'm aware that they "admitted" that, but does that really change anything? Again, I quite liked both Witcher games, but sex cards and romance doesn't exactly go hand in hand and the fact that they included them in the first place says a lot about their intent.

 

2; Like I said, maybe it's just me but does nudity in games even need pioneering? Is it really that necessary?

as i mentiond look at Fallout 3 and the painspike armor. the armor is pretty mutch topless and if you take it off?

I don't know about anyone else but i don't get upset when i watch an R rated movie and it doesn't show T & A, or  the is a very brief scene of nudity to almost count it as no nudity. I don't watch movies or play games to see sex, for the longest time movies have had the same type of sex scenes bioware does an no one talks about how they should have shown this or shown that. Its so unimportant to the story.

The problem is that BioWare insists on having rendered sex scenes. If they would just do fade-to-black, it wouldn't be an issue. But as it is, characters having full intercourse, and then waking up with their underwear on is ridiculous.

I like having the romance, I like the idea of it. I can go without nudity and sex scenes, I feel watching sex scenes in games is a little awkward just because most of the time it looks weird. When I first played Origins I expected the scene to fade to black like in Fable and was a little surprised when it didn't. First time I played TW2 I was shocked, I was like "Woah! Ok!" I don't find it offensive but at the same time I don't find it enjoyable either. Give me romance and a make out scene...sex and nudity I can do without.

I think it's hilarious when Fox News blasts game companies for perverting the younger generation. Someone should send them a video clip of what the "younger generation" modded into Sims 3.

 

They got backlash back in 2007 for Mass Effect 1.   Its 2014 and times have changed...you won't see the same type of backlash the way it was for ME1

I didn't believe I needed to clarify, but considering you are going to be overly-technical and condescending, anything below the waist (penis or vagina) used in a sexual manner will result in a AO-rating. You did not see Triss' vagina and obviously you did not see Geralt's penis.

 

Now I believe the rest of the community would appreciate if you get back on topic with respect to nudity in DAI, which is a lot less compared to TW2.

Well considering their "intent" was to make the experience authentic and the fact they actually used historical "naughty" postcards from the early 20th Century as a reference, I can entirely understand what they were attempting to do. How it was executed and how people perceived, however, is something they should have realized because people are cynics and will assume the worst.

 

In order to make more believable and less ridiculous stories? Yes. Do you really prefer the days of the fade-to-black and awkward moans of Fable or the horrendous clothed sex acts in DA2? Nudity is a part of human existence and sex and romance is a part of human identity. If RPGs and storytellers hope to tell more compelling stories, making more believable set pieces would go a long way.

 

The United States is far behind the rest of the world when it comes to nudity and its perception. The United States is also the dominant nation when it comes to entertainment, whether it's television, film, video games, etc. as well as being a major consumer. As a result, video games have to break down barriers and constantly push what is possible without crossing the AO-rating line. I'd say video games have been rather effective in promoting nudity as it has come a long way in just four years alone.
