Yeah, an Archdemon can only be truly slain by a Grey Warden, I imagine the same logic applies to the original Magisters.
But the reason for that is because an Archdemon's soul cannot coexist with a Grey Warden's, that the two spirits destroy one another by being present together. The only reason a Grey Warden has to make the final blow is to ensure that the Warden is the closest tainted creature it'll jump into.
Corypheus is able to inhabit a Grey Warden's body just fine, he clearly doesn't have the same limitations.

I think because Corypheus is darkspawn and as such he doesn't have soul, he can jump to warden's body without being destroyed in process.

About the Warden being in the game or in DLC.. I don't see why its impossible with a really small part. We have to redo Hawke anyway in a CC so why not do the same for the Warden but add two voice choices. If they are just a small part it wouldn't be too bad. I love my Warden and I want them to have a chance at a happy ending. I think the reason people want them back now is because 1) The warden is the shiznit and 2) Bioware took away the happy ending in DA2. They could have just not had our LIs in this game or have them make remarks on how happy they are with the warden, but now that they are back and the warden is gone, people want a chance to fix it.

Well this should be interesting, given my first world state my warden is a mage and is the king's mistriss.
If they do end up giving the warden a speaking part better have a good voice actor for it, but that seems down the road. But glad we get a brief glimpse and glad I was right they would do it hood or helm style in my prediction if they did it.

This will be hilarious in my canon play through. The Warden killed both Liliana and Wynne during the Temple of Sacred Ashes quest. I will definitely be sending Liliana as the adviser to speak to the Warden--perhaps he will finish the job. 
In either case, that is an awkward reunion moment:
Warden: "Oh hey... I thought you were dead."
Liliana: "I was. Temporarily. Thanks for setting me on fire by the way."
Warden: "No problem. Any time."

Sorry to me it makes sense he should be in it. Glad my female mage Hawke is in it. But better have a good reason my Warden who is in love with Morrigan ain't around.

The warden didn't have a voice default voice. Too many can of worms for people to ****** about how "their warden" wasn't properly represented.

Are you new to BSN, before we begin though, because I'll tell you, I've read plenty of rage about them voicing the Warden when there wasn't anything even remotely like the Warden appearing. Before you doubt that, check out all the "We don't need voiced PC" posts around here. You'll find it's a bigger deal than you think.

If they just give us a good reason for it and don't show the Warden I'm 100% fine with it. I don't need to see him, just would like to know why he isn't with her. If they don't say anything about it I'll just assume he didn't want to leave Ferelden because he had some stuff to do. We'll see

Exactly. Hell, there were threads back in the day complaining about responses to unspoken dialog. I can't even begin to imagine the level of rage. Well, I can, and I don't think I'm exaggerating when I say "ME 3 ending will look like a happy dance".

I would have thought the warden HoF not having a pre-established voice in DAO would actually make it easier to put the character in DAI because they can choose whoever they want (Voice Actor) for the role.
I feel cheated HoF isn't in the game - gets a passing nod or mention! I foresee riots in the virtual streets if He/She isn't in the DLC or next instalment.

I'd call BS but Rockstar pulled almost this exact stunt with Packie McReary in GTA V.
