Seems to be quite demanding, but this was taken with 4XMSAA so no surprise there.
Mantle (for AMD cards) seems to improve performance (according to Neogaf).
A bloomfield Intel CPU like the I7 920 gets a boost of ~ 45% with mantle and a R9 290x
Even a modern i7 4970k gets a 10% boost with mantle.
Yea Mantle enabled card allows for the best visual gaming experience without sacrificing fps or buying a new cpu.
still seems 8gb cards could be considered optimal.
40 average fps on max...sounds good!
I wonder how many AA options we have.
I wonder how many AA options we have.
MSAA, and other post process AA (SMAA and FXAA I think).
Those are some relatively low framerate for such a powerful graphic cards.
I'm sure optimized version will be better. Exciting.
That's the final version. You can pretty much double the framerate if you use some lighter AA options.
"Retail, Steam"
Doesn't seem right.
30fps with 4x MSAA....hmm not bad for me i guess, though i will turn the AA lower a bit and see how it goes
Well, they had to use unoptimized drivers and there will be a day-one patch.
And 4x MSAA destroys your framerate in Bf4 too.
I call bull
So, no MSAA for me then? Seems more demanding than BF4 for sure.
Will have to wait and see.
I call bull
Why?
Why?
no way a gtx 980 would only get 45 fps in this game
no way a gtx 980 would only get 45 fps in this game
It's probably 90 fps without 4x MSAA.
no why gtx 980 would only get 45 fps in this game
Drivers aren't out yet for DAI, plus this was taken with 4xMSAA.
I do find it funny that my R9 290 is on par with a GTX 980 though.
It's probably 90 fps without 4x MSAA.
dude/dudette i say this article is bought and paid for by AMD The gtx 980 is a powerhouse i say it should get 90 fps with 4x msaa plus only 15 fps with gtx 750 2gb i can 60 fps 1920x1080 on BF4 high settings
So the 290X without mantle manages higher average FPS than the 980? That makes sense. No, wait, it doesn't.
Then again, their benchmarks are complete bull most of the time, anyway.
So if someone was to get the new ROG Swift Gsync for 1440P @ 144hz what would a single GTX 980 get? Medium settings? Is it pretty much guaranteed that you will need two 980s to get the most out of this monitor for this game? Thats disappointing if it is. I was hoping to get only one card. There is no guarantee that SLI will even work with Dragon Age and Gsync.
It'll be interesting to see how much future drivers can improve performance, still very demanding if you look how bad even the fastest video cards do.
I bet there will be a lot of users tweaking options settings to gain speed here and there.
still call bull

Why not? Bioware and DICE have always been partnered with AMD, it makes sense that DAI would be more optimised for AMD cards as of now. Once Nvidia releases their drivers the 980 should (probably) be in the lead but until then the R9 290X is the winner.
And there I thought my GTX 980 would be an overkill for Dragon Age:Inquisition's max setting...oh well 40 fps is fine.

Keep in mind the drivers aren't out yet. Plus this benchmark could be taken in a particularly demanding setting that is not indicative of the game's average performance.
