Well that 970 can't come soon enough but I won't have it till next year at the earliest.

I was thinking same thing however with AMD R9 390 card and mantle support

Besides, the R9 290X has about 10% more raw power than the GTX 980.
No it doesn't...
It's more like the other way around.
I hope new drivers will resolve problems on Nvidia cards.
It's no MSAA for me I guess, but I was expecting that. MSAA is very demanding.

Translation from Neogaf
Sucks about the 30FPS lock on cutscenes. DAO and DA2 didn't have this nor BF3 and BF4.
I don't mind though. Cutscenes are pretty much like a movie, unlike actual gameplay, where you control your camera.
Cutscenes have a fixed camera angle, so 30 FPS doesn't make as much difference, at least for me.

Yeah I never have my settings that high as far as resolution games just feel to distant for me then I like seeing things up closer even on a big tv plus never really notice that huge of a difference it's typically minor but that's just what I think.

Both companies will be fine tuning newer drivers for this game, however how much FPS gain is another thing.

I had to take a step back a breathe too but as some have already pointed out this was their test done at ridiculous settings most people won't use. I would not panic yet. You can turn down or off the MSAA. I'll probably lower it to almost the lowest and try that and if I need to not use it at all. Plus I expect Nvidia will put out a new driver that will tweak things shortly after release anyway. This isn't really a good benchmark test. I'll await one with different resolutions tested with different settings. Since I'll be playing with a monitor just lower than 1080 I expect that will help a lot.

Yeah right now I am crying because I love my NVIDIA card and I can easily max watchdogs but I just see these video cards that are pretty damn elite struggle and I just... I just shudder >_<!
I will see if I need MSAA at all :s I'm crying cause I wanted to see Iron Bull in all his beautiful glory. MY HUSBAND T_T!
I will cross my fingers that things go smoothly.. T______________T
Me: "Lol battlefield 4 will be ez pz" it was.
*Looks at DA:I specs*

Towel needed for panic, dont press the button.
you can always push the gpu down applying load of settings that does nothing for visual difference you actually notice playing.
I play at 5040x1050 with a single 290 and I am not even worried at all.
it will look amazing and run fluently.

Yeah do not panic. Note that in their test a 980 managed 48 fps?!! Which is absurd for a card that only just arrived on the market so what you conclude for this is that they maxxxed the settings beyond what you'd probably need or want. I am not even sure if this is even accurate though so like I said I am waiting for better benchmarks that test more settings.

Upgrading the GPU is one thing but the problem many of us with older gaming rigs have is old a CPU that often can't be changed to a newer one without being forced to change to an entirely new motherboard. And with that (for me) also having to buy new OS because OEM Windows. For example I have a 1155 socket MB, I would have to buy a new MB and new Windows 7 or 8 license. The few CPU's that are being sold for my MB will hardly give any improvement. Besides, Intel is getting ready to change to their Skylake microarchitecture, thus making a shift now more or less pointless. Better wait a year.
In other words, Inquisition was made for AMD based PC's and those of us with Intel and Nvidia will have to make do and pretend we play on a new-gen console...

Why would a nvidia card owner panic? I want to see 4k benchmarks. The higher the resolution and both AMD and nvidia cards become even in FPS or didn't you see the 1440p benchmark? You think you will get the same fps at that resolution you currently play at? Not a chance. I am not worried the slightest bit at all.

My question is how much of a difference does this MXAA make?
Because I don't feel I need any sort of AA on my screen and that is just me being serious. If it makes even a 5 FPS difference I may feel more comfortable. I am not asking for 60+ FPS, but 48 would be perfect for me. Just based upon what I know I enjoy the best.

It usually gives a noticeable difference. But if you like me have an older rig with new GPU anything over minimum, 2X, will eat a lot of your frame rate. It might be better to ignore MXAA, I certainly will even though I hate jagged edges.

"I guess for me im trying to figure out whether or not playing on a new asus rog swift 27" screen in 1440P is significantly better than playing on a 70" tv on slightly lower settings in 1080p with the ps4 when you are 8-12 feet away versus 2-3 feet away on a monitor. I read how in general that someone playing in 1080p will be amazed on the jump to 1440P 144hz gsync. Of course I haven't seen that first hand so not sure what to believe. With pc gaming comes the normal challenges of potential driver issues and SLI incompatibility, but also the potential for wonderful mods. I'd certainly be saving a few thousand by spending only $60 for the ps4 versus the eventualy hugely expensive new pc and monitor Ive been trying to push out further and further lol."

Still hoping I get answers to the flowing scenario, and I refuse to get AMD.
You do know that the PS4 and XB 1 have AMD tech right?

Hmm... What to do, what to do...? I'm getting a new graphics cards for DAI (the old HD7850 ain't going to cut it), so do I get a GTX 970 or R9290X, given how much difference Mantle seems to make? I was going to go for a 970, but these benchmarks have me wondering.
Personally I would go with the 970. You can't get better performance for your bucks! And don't compare the two using one game, since games usually are made for a specific brand. So DA:I is made with AMD in mind, while another game is made with Nvidia in mind.
The 970 is also a lot less noisy and demands less power.

Those numbers are too low for 1080p. Either something is not right or this game is REALLY difficult to max out. I play bf4(which has the same recommended specs) at 1440p 50+ fps with a 780 ti.

Lol I meant in a new pc. A console is a much more tightly controlled environment, like an apple product. I don't worry as much about driver issues and SLI and resolution on a console. On a PC, with so much variation between pc's both in terms of hardware and software, my experience with AMD in the long run has always been disappointment. That's not to say Nvidia hasn't had their share of driver issues as well, but overall with the type of games I play, especially MMOs, Nvidia has mostly proven to be the less complicated and better overall choice.

This is with MSAA, an enhanced engine and BF4 is a totally different game compared to DA:I.
