Despite what the old Bioware Social overview says, the character records are NOT "read-only" as I've learned the hard way today.

Not having any more Dragon Age 2 savegame backup I relied on the records which where quite complete. My hero was registered there with the correct level, appearing in the endgame armor.

Now she's gone.

What did I do? I reinstalled Dragon Age 2 today in order to import my old Dragon Age Origins savegame to check some decisions. It really did help and I was able to correct two records where my memory was wrong.

However, in creating just a random Marian Hawke, warrior, for this task this Marian got uploaded and replaced my old custom Marian Hawke, rogue, high level character in the Bioware records. She's gone. The only way I could get her back is if I replay the entire game I guess.

So, be careful. At the very least chose another name and hope your hero of old does not get erased. Thanks to EA at this point for spreading false informations. "Read only", yeah. -.-

Kind of a moot point. The actions of your Hawke can be reflected in your achievements and Keep world states. Achievements never go away so if your hawke earns the respect of the Arishok that is forever.

Save games aren't imported and only Hawke's gender and class is carried over from the DA2 records, you're essentially starting from a blank slate so losing the records and starting from a blank slate isn't that bad.

I know that. But in the FAQ it is mentioned that the Keep is still WIP and that they are kinda looking into ways to expand it. The record was there and it was the only complete record I had left from DA2 since I erased the savegame (only kept the ones from DAO) and it is gone because I was lead into believing they're save via "read only". But they are not.

Just wanted to let people know as I'm probably not the only one with the idea to check DAO-decisions via DA2-savegame-import. ;)

The good news is that I remember most decisions in DAO and just needed confirmation here and there. I played DAO much longer and more "intensive" so to speak. That's why I kept the DAO saves and erased the ones from DA2 lol. :D The ending kinda made me do it...

DA2 is a bit easier to decide as well.

True. Well I guess I'm kinda satisfied with the current state. Have yet to cover up on the DA2 Legacy DLC which I've not played (but will watch a playthrough) and then I'm all set.

I will bite myself in the ass though if and when Bioware decides to expand the Keep in the future, adding some more character details of older games. But let's be honest...I doubt they will do it. More options for DAI will certainly come, but Bioware will probably not invest in past games any more than they already did. Doesn't make money. ^^

well, there have been polls for game plots from the first 2. So we'll see what the possible update brings
