I don't think I'll have time to read both. Which of these two should I read (they're the only ones I own)? I care mostly about which is more relevant to Inquisition...which book will make my experience of the game more fulfilled?
Thanks!

They're both pretty important, but I'd go with Asunder because one of the major characters in Asunder is also one of the Inquisitor's companion. You should still read up on The Masked Empire on the wiki though, it seems to be setting up some important plot points.
Asunder for sure!! It gives you an introduction to Cole who is a companion in the inquisition......however Masked Empire introduces you to Orlaision politics. So I guess I'm not that helpful.
I agree with the above, if you absolutely have to go with one then I suggest Asunder.
Yeah, both are important, but I think the background info on Cole might be helpful, it may give you insight into why many people (here on the forums) feel sympathy for him. There is a lot of important info in TME too however..arghhh!
No no no, read The Masked Empire! Don't listen to these plebeian fools!
I don't know how relevant it will be (I imagine fairly relevant, given how it ends), but oh man is it a good book. The characters are so nuanced and interesting.
I lean toward Masked Empire with Celene, Briala, and Gaspard.
Asunder is better and gives you insight into one of your companions as well as the ever-increasing rift between Mages and Templars. Masked Empire, on the other hand, gives you insight into Orlesian politics as well as a couple of characters who are bound to make an appearance, not to mention the irreconcilable differences between the Dalish and Alienage elves.
To my mind, if you want a better reading experience overall, I suggest reading Asunder.
If you need more, here are my reviews for both books: (spoilers include tags)

I would say The Masked Empire. Both introduce you to one of the major conflicts. Asunder: Mage<-> Templar; Masked Empire: Civil War in Orlais and
But considering the mage/templar conflict was a major part in Dragon Age 2 and even played a role in Origins we have some knowledge what led to the the open war between these two factions. The civil war on the other hand was barely ( or not at all) thematised so far.
PS: I have the same problem as OP with Last Flight. I don't want to read it, because i find everything that has to do with the darkspawn boring (couldn't finish the Calling although I really tried) and it doesn't help that parts of the book describe events that take place a long time before the games.
Is there anything important to know for Inquition? Is it worth to read as a preparation for the game?Des the book introduce us to the Wardens in Inquisition like the other books did with the mages/templars and the orlais factions? Are there any references to the other major conflicts in teh books (aside from warden/darkspawn)
I suggest Masked Empire - I think it was a better written book.

Last Flight doesn't seem all that connected to DAI. There are 1 or 2 hints about what the Wardens might be up to in Inquisition (although I'm not even sure when The Last Flight happens in relation to DAI), but nothing else seems really relevant to DAI. It might impact future DLC/games however.
If you want to know about Cole, Read Asunder. It's really good and you'll also learn about his friend, Rhys. Wynne's son & Senior Enchanter.
I'm in the same boat as you and I decided to read Asunder. I've read half of it now and it is a really good book so far plus it gives you a backround to Cole. Can't say if the masked empire is better though.
Asunder and then last Flight then Masked Empire
I enjoyed the Masked Empire a tiny bit more but going to say Asunder since it just deal with a few things that are kinda cool to know before DAI

Masked Empire
Although it's pretty light reading. You might have time to still read Asunder.
I think it's going to be more relevant to new information you could use. You can get away without Asunder, since it treads the ground that DA2 did, but in a different way. You know a lot as it is about the mage/templar conflict. But you know next to nothing about Orlais, if you just played the games.
Asunder seems more important from DA:I perspective.
Sets the scene for Templar - Mage conflict, introduces Cole (who is a companion), features old companions from DA:O (tying a lose end), introduces Justinia...
And it's timeline is set AFTER the Masked Empire.
And to be honest, I found Asunder to be a better book story and character wise.
The good thing about Masked Empire is that it features the next Forbidden One (I guess considering that we killed Xebenkeck in DA2 and Gaxkang in DA:O, Imshael will make for a side quest enemy in DA:I), and it introduces Celene (as a main character), which may play an important role in Inquisition.
One major conflict in DAI will be the Mage-Templar war, so you'll probably want to pick up Asunder since that book is centered around the Mage-Templar war.
It might give you some context when you come across something in the game related to the war.
