Do people actually care about these kind of awards anymore?

ME3 also had a lot of awards. Didn't make me dislike the SP part of the game any less.

Dark Souls 2.
Divinity: Original Sin.
Diablo 3 Reaper of Souls.

Shadowrun Dragonfall (expansion).
Wasteland 2.
Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor.
Lords of the Fallen.

Risen 3 (crap but it still counts!)

Bound by Flame (same as Risen 3).
And now Dragon Age: Inquisition.

I've probably missed out some too but there were quite a few RPG's this year, certainly more than last year. Last year we got Shadowrun Returns, Dragon Crown and that was it. The best RPG of last year, IMO, was the expansion pack to Dragon's Dogma and when an expansion pack to a game that released the year prior is the RPG that sells the most, you know that that year has problems.

After so many "OMG THIS IS THE BEST GAME IN DA WURRLDs" with ME3... I'm kinda shaky on any opinion that isn't mine when I get into it.

Keep in mind that´s a Playstation site, so PC only games don´t count for them.

At least we aren't seeing any "the journey is more important that the destination" or "focus on the story of all three games and don't focus too much on the details" kind of cryptic nonsense we saw before ME3. My spidey sense was going all out of wack with that nonsense, enough for me to decide not buy ME3. And then my wife got it for me as a gift.

Oh, to take back that gift and spare me the anguish it unleashed.

Damn women!

But yeah, you're totally right there. I haven't been following DA:I closely at all, will do this week just to see if it's worth it. But from what I've seen, I approve with what BioWare's been doing.

Still, it's always best to be cautious :D

I don't know where to put my Legend of Grimrock 2, Endless Legend and King's Bounty info.

I think this forum needs a TBS/TB-RPG thread.

Make one. You have my full support when it comes to Endless Legend.

I recently started playing through it again. I really can't get over how it just doesn't feel like a BioWare game. It feels like an EA game trying too hard most of the time. Ever since the EA acquisiton of the company I've seen this almost rapid decline in quality across the board. Inquisition better be top notch quality and feel like a BioWare game. If it doesn't I don't think I'll be buying any more of their games in the future.

Second time they win for a game that's not out yet. Let's all hold our horses until the actual game is released and then properly tested and reviewed.

Only four in the list were PC exclusive, the rest were multi-platform and I was responding to Liamv2 really and not the PC site you N'wah! lol

Eh, as Wimbini said, do people even care for these awards anymore? So many mags/sites give out "game of the year/rpg of the year" awards that we often end up with multiple games with those titles. Lesser known to some is that Dark Souls won game of the year in 2011 from five different major publications but people tout Skyrim as the only game of the year from 2011 (which won ten from the major publications). Perhaps "game of the year" should be taken to simply mean one of the best of the year and not the best because obviously opinions differ always...

This.

They can cover the box in reviews talking about how "omg thisissoamazing" reviews and it means nothing to me anymore. The recommendation of 1 reviewer I actually trust is worth more then 40 random reviewers I don't care about combined.

Didn't know that Shadow of Mordor was considered an RPG now, I suppose Far Cry is as well then? It's good game though, that's for certain.

Anything with a skill tree is an RPG. Or so the masses believe.
