Done and done. Then we will see how many people can accept the "cuz resources" explanation.

Even I'll admit that, after this many games, they really ought to have sorted out that they need a at least two functional walking animations.

What this means is "my lady protagonist had gender neutral animations in cutscenes".
No one can say what is inherently "manly" about the cutscene animations thus far.

Thank God, equity is not about doing the same things the same way.
I think you are correct and want to see more before I get to concerned. And for fairness, I must say the male run animation in DAO did look rather uncomfortable. I don’t know how you guys do it. But I think it will take a couple more years of animating before it becomes acceptable. No one can say what is inherently "manly" about the cutscene animations thus far.

It's hardly gender neutral. They swung to the far right in regards to a masculine strut.
Not to get too hyperbolic...but she's walking as though she has a druffalo-sized d!ck betwixt her legs. ...though I suppose I can rationalize it when my Iron Bull romance is in effect? So, um...yay?

As long as we don't have another repeat of that Shepard dress sitting scene with Garrus, I'll be okay. I wish they'd add at least a few feminine animations in the cut scenes for the female lead character, but it isn't a deal braker for me.
Edit:
I should probably note that I've stayed clear of any in-game video footage to avoid spoilers. So, I haven't seen this walk people are talking about.

It's the strut of a soldier. Humans with a penis do not have to walk a certain way and implying that only men can walk like the Inquisitor is silly.

Well, of course, so when are you going to starting walking like we do?
saturday nights.

I've never been through military training, but a para-military police academy. They do not teach us to walk with six inches of air between our thighs. The only conclusion such an awkward walk can have me draw is that they're packing heat, or they're packing.
EDIT - because I'm a good sport, I took a screenshot:

I envy everyone who think this walking style is normal for BOTH MEN AND WOMEN. And while I can understand that animating cutscenes two times (to apply male/female animations properly, dependind on hero's gender) would be time consuming (maybe a little waste of resources too...) I'm interested how it will look in female exclusive scenes (in Sera's romance arc for example). If I see this gorilla walk here I'll die. Of laughter.

How is it fair to say that's how "men" walk just because that character is walking like she has diarrhea? How many men do you know who walk like that? This is the same issue as another thread, criticizing a bad animation as sexist instead of simply bad. Neither the elf nor Cassandra's walks look very good or particularly natural for either gender but of course the devs must have put men first. ![]()

Comparing to DAO tool, the cut would have to be done at least 2 times anyway. The walk animation is usually defined as a set of numbers, the difference in the cut scene between any of the option players is only a difference in the number associated with the animation used in that cut scene.
It was hard for me to tell in the cut, because I could not compare fairly with what Cassandra was doing and she should have been assigned the same animation. The only difference would have been animation defined for a female, human vs an elf vs a dwarf, etc. Unless the cut was universal.

Obviously you missed my very first post on this subject where I indicated this walk was an exaggeration for both genders:
"If the male animation wasn't exaggerated this wouldn't be so glaring, but they went for some bow-legged strut that looks awkward as hell and doubly so on a female."
It's a bad animation for either gender, but bad or not it was obviously the male-rig and they plopped it on to females to save "resources". Quoting resources as I don't know if this is the official reasoning, but it makes as much sense as anything else I've heard.

To make up for her running around like her hips have come unglued from the rest of her body?
For some reason this bothers me a lot more then the "man walk" ever did.

As Bioware has previously stated, they deliberately opt for gender neutral animations for their protagonists so there's nothing "obvious" about a male rig being used in a poor animation. You admit yourself that you don't know enough about it to properly judge the reasoning for it so how can you be so sure the devs designed the diarrhea shuffle with males in mind?

The difference in walking is because the shape of the hip and leg bones, not because a guy's dick is so gigantic that it gets in the way... ![]()

Never used DA:O toolset and honestly I have no idea what you're talking about
Anyway...

I just hope it won't bother me much while playing. And I hope it will be fixed next damned time. Gender-neutral animations FTW!
