I don't mind using a controller on my PC, I do it all the time. I just played Shadows of Mordor recently with my controller and enjoyed the game. I played The Stick of Truth earlier this year with a controller too (because it plays better that way IMO) and also enjoyed that game.

Firstly, we were promised deep tactical combat, which is completely absent from the game and broken, which I am personally really butthurt about. Secondly, you can of course play the game with the controller, but the button mashing action is freaking boring and just plain bad. It is like playing a bad MMO or something, the combat in World of Warcraft is much more enjoyable than this drivel. I mean, couldn't they have at least copied The Old Republic's combat? It was at least half decent.

When Bioware designed the combat system it is like they tried way too hard and not hard enough at the exact same time.

You press space on the loot screen and it takes all.

Same as in DA2 but the pause button is also the space button in that game.

Mods are not supported. If they dont fix it, its the end of PC users buying Bioware Games. At least Im done with BW

I'm done with buying EA games, DA3 was my last hope and they back stab us as usual.

The controller would remove my biggest issues with the controls, but since I have used a mouse and keyboard since DA 1 pride prevents me from doing so.

That might not work, because the camera does in fact sort of, uhh...how to explain this, well if there is a roof you indeed can't see ****, cause the roof does not go, uhh, see through?

But, I simply sort of move the camera at about a 45 degree angle and I am good to go. And that works for me brilliantly.

It was strange at first, really strange considering previous cam had no physical limits. But this has superior mobility and range, and after maybe the 6th hour I naturally changing the camera angles without thinking about it.

Basically, people are mad that it's not a carbon copy of DAO's camera.

So, a quick recap for people interested in actual information, instead of hyperboles and trolls:

- The DAI tac cam does not make the "roof" of whatever location you are in transparent, unlike DAO.

- The DAI tac cam cannot pass through solid objects.

- The end result is that in confined spaces, it is basically impossible to get the bird's eye view we got in DAO.

BUT

- UNLIKE DAO, the DAI tac cam is fully movable. You can pan, tilt, rotate, and move around the camera. Think of it like an "observer mode" in a 3D game. So while you can't get your bird's eye view while indoors, you CAN move it so you see what is happening and issue order to the characters. You certainly have far more freedom than you do in DA2, for example.

- UNLIKE DAO, the DAI tac cam gives status effects on mouseover and shows movement paths, giving significantly more info than in DAO.

In short, it's not the same as DAO. In some ways it's worse, and in others its better. And either way, it certainly IS possible to fight battles with the tac cam, which allows auto-attack and ordering all NPCs around.

Thank you.

Did you even use the Tac view in the PC version ??? You can move it all right, but it gets suck at one spot too many times which you can't move it any more and then you need to exit and try again. Also when you pan down in 3rd person view because you can't see the vail tear as its too high or your view is too low you can't even zoom out and then it's back to exiting Tac view and doing it all over again.

Us PC users really get the screwed over this.

naw give Bioware a chance to fix things. Most of the stuff can be fixed with a patch. I give them a chance just because I love the DA Series.

Do you have to hold a keyboard button down to attack continually or is it the left mouse button?

You can hold R, I prefer it to the left mouse button personally.

It is not horrible, not used to new control =/= horrible.

After a few key changes combat control works fine. I hope we can use combine keys(ctrl/shift+key) or bind both interact and search key together, plus a loot all button (key map able). Also, if search can stop highlight road mark or camp equipment that would be great.

Yeah, I agree. Tac cam is a pretty big step back. I see no reason why they redesigned it other than for consoles, I'm not too fucked though. Considering their past two releases this game has generally been a step in the right direction. A few minor tweaks and it would be great, but BW won't let us mod so there's no hope for modding in a decent UI with more hotkeys and fiddling with the tac cam. Those two changes alone would add so much to the game.

It would be DA:I's Sky UI.

Wait, wasn't there no "no auto attack" in DA2 before? And then people complained and they changed it? Why change it back for DAI?

All this would be tolerable if we had proper mod support. But no - Forstbite 3. PC gamers at heart...

I agree with the OP.

How the keyboard and mouse control can't be like in DAO seriously.

if it turns out you can't do any of those things, would you then consider it horrible, regardless of how used to it you got?

So are all the m&kb players running around Thedas holding down the forward key on the keyboard?

Is that really the only way to play?

W along with A and D for maneuvering and the friggin' space bar for jumping when I fell off the curved stairs three times during the prologue. I'm not that dexterous.

Bioware is likely to need to fix bugs before they even consider better controls.

it also might make a total mess of the game for us PC gamers.

still I be ashamed after working 4 years on a game and release this without proper PC controls

if I worked at bioware there would roll heads now as its unacceptable.

Umm, nope. That's not going to cut it.

Space is pause, why it would be anything else just makes no sense.

And in every other game, you used the mouse to turn left and right as you walked forward. Are you telling me you can't hold both buttons to walk, AND you can't even hold the forward key and turn with the mouse?

Seriously?

Drama much?

We saw gameplay video with the UI made for PC, i've hardly see anything close to Skyrim.

Have you tried playing it?

So on the PC UI, if you're exploring and you get ambushed, are you able to pause the game, tell each of your characters what to do, and unpause it like you could in DA2 and DAO, without going into tac cam?

Is this still a viable method of combat?
