I heard there was a wish for feedback, so here's mine.
There's a huge difference between how the UI looks and how it actually plays.
It looks great! It feels very awkward on the keyboard and mouse.
I know a few issues I've had with combat have been tac cam problems (Centering on the party member clicked instead of STAYING PUT, having to use the WASD keys to direct the target instead of just using the mouse) as well as click to attack issues. There's also the ping to search feature that just... really gets difficult to juggle, with everything.
I was very excited for jumping in this game, though it did take a bit to relearn that while it's a DA game, space /= pause... so there was some remapping there. But the controls feel very keyboard turnerish. When you cannot target with a mouse click (yes, you can target while you ATTACK with a mouse click, I don't know how many random NPCs would be dead at this rate if they weren't immortal...) but with a button press, going through a group of five or six with tab is tedious.
Honestly, other than a few other bugs that aren't K+M related, so far, so good. I just really would have a better time playing this if the tac cam issues were fixed. And that I could get my mouse functionality back. I can slam 'R' to auto attack, that's fine, but the villagers would probably appreciate less dents in the ground next to them...

As a PC gamer who's been playing the game for a while now, the controls are clunky at first, not like the previous games, but I would hardly say it needs an overhaul. A few hours of practice and it's easy now, it's not a big deal. Just re-map some of your keys to work better for you.

- Auto-attack in non-tactical cam.
- Toggle Walk(?!?!?!??!?!?!)
- More zooming options in tac-cam.
Absence of these is annoying.

So is it true you can't move the tac cam by moving the mouse to the screen edges?

Can't recall I ever use this in the TAC cam, maybe it really doesn't work because I only use the ASWD keys.

I thought the reviews were positive about the controls.
The reviews were also positive about Dragon Age 2.

You can if you hold shift while in tac cam.

After playing for a few hours, I have no real problems with the controls. The biggest issue I had was pause being set to CTRL, but a simple remap fixed that. The tactical camera could definitely use some work. It tends to get stuck at times and really needs to be zoomed out more. I don't really care about lack of autoattack, a walk option or whatever else. So, personally, the tac cam could use some work but the controls, while different and possibly requiring remapping or getting used to, are ultimately fine.

This explains why I hate the tac cam.

This is what I did although this has effected my gameplay experience.

Are all you people that are "fine" with the controls running around holding W the whole time?

the controls are a big pain in the ass! at least I'm not the only one who got used to the "hold left+right mouse button to walk"...
another annoying point is the missing support for multifunctional mice. Ok, I can assign my extra mouse buttons to perform action pressing key "G" for example but why not recognizing them in first place as a seperate button???
I tried using tac cam once in the tutorial and i got stuck so bad in a green crystal so I had to reload an auto-save -.- you don't see **** with tac-cam
the missing auto-attack bugs me also like hell!!!
If you guys demand 70€ for a game then better get it a decent support for pc players. A player who is pissed off by the controls of a game cannot enjoy the graphics or storyline. This **** will make your game a flop!

i used to keyboard turn in MMOs (WoW, SWTOR, Rift etc) which is why I'm fast getting used to the ( still bad but not game breakingly horrible) controls... that Iand I hover between normal and casual in difficulty
KB + Mouse for any higher difficulty imo would suck really really hard

If we have to hold down multiple keyboard keys simply to move our player (not just W, but A and D, unless you only plan on straight lines the entire game), we should not have to hold down any other keyboard keys for anything else. My mouse has 5 programmable buttons on it, and none can currently be used to move. Many people have gaming mice with even more buttons. That is a joke.

Not all of them.

Yes. Pointing and clicking to move is incredibly annoying. Every other game I play is wasd to move

Tactical combt is really the worst and it kills the game for me. Have to you tried to fight in a dark cave where you cant zoom out 3 meter above the ground? WTF... If Bioware isnt fixing this asap you lost me as a customer. Not going to buy any more games and this makes me sad. Been so eager to play DAI.

Wow, people finishing this thing in 2-3 days?
That's a bad sign, unless you are skipping every sidequest.

I really want to play this, but right now, with the current controls it is just unpleasant and I have to struggle with camera to get anything done and even such basic actions like looting require my full attention ("v" pinging, camera rotating, moving the character close to the loot, pressing f, clicking "loot all" - instead of one glimpse of an eye to find the loot glitter and right clicking on it).
The core of the gameplay currently for me is camera rotating and paning. This is what I do in this game most of the time. I think I'll wait a month or two and see if this improves - right now I get no fun out of this. At all.

In another thread about gamers and disabilities I said I had Lupus which affects joints. Eventhough by all accounts I function perfectly fine, playing with things the way they are made sure I'll never use the keyboard for this game. At least pressing the thumb pad for search is better than jamming "V".

Nah, that happens with every game. Yes, they're probably skipping a lot, but their first run-through is just to get done. *shrug*

After some time with it, (finished prologue, Haven and got to Hinderlands, all in all about 6 hours) I can say that controls do not feel any kind of good on KB/M.
Action cam:
- Move to point is lacking and it shows a lot, having to manually position character for every attack (if melee) and looting attempt gets tedious fast.
- "Search" function works fine for "hidden" things, but for crafting materials and loot it quickly gets tiring. I want it to be a toggle, and for lootable objects to have clear and visible labels. Current glowing outline is very easy to miss in certain lightning conditions.
- Having to click/hold for every attack instead of being able to command to continuously attack. It might work in MP, but in SP I have 3 other party members to keep track of, and their AI do not make it any easier.
Tactical cam:
- It's useless anywhere with low ceiling. Like in a dungeon. Where tactical combat is most needed. Outside those places, it has too small range and too small maximum height, so it can't show you whole battlefield at once. And it snaps back to character when I change selected one. And can't see through trees/walls/whatever.
- "Search" function does not work, so I can send a character to collect stuff, but can't highlight stuff that needs collecting.
- Jump doesn't work either. And move-to-point pathfinding can't navigate between height levels.
- Inability to select several characters at once make me unable to execute basic combat maneuvers like "you two go there, you two stay here", or just "move party in formation" without having to manually select each character and give orders. And they forget orders all the time, but that's probably a bug.
May be something else, but these things worried me the most.
