This isn't the end of the world. If they receive enough complaints, they'll probably patch it. If not I'm pretty sure a control scheme is easy enough to mod, despite the engine. Until then, try getting used to it or just use a gamepad if it's that bad.
Bioware please FIX keyboard and mouse support for PC!

Except gamepads are a lot more uncomfortable. It's either keyboard and mouse or nothing.

I find both pretty comfortable. If you can't get used to the controls then sorry, don't know what to tell ya.
They can't patch this, that's the problem. Tactical camera redesign would take a lot of work, it's downright broken. Whose idea was to make camera move around with WASD and not with mouse? Why were they releasing those videos about them "caring soooo much" about PC players if the only thing we got is a straight up console port? Honestly, it's awful and almost impossible to get used to.
Wait that's the problem? That really doesn't seem like a big deal. Then again I haven't experienced it first hand. That said hopefully you guys get used to it, as I hate to see your entire experience of the game ruined because of weird camera in the tactical view.

And yes, so far the control scheme destroys a huge excitement I had for this game. It's not Dragon Age, it's some weird Dark Souls/DmC/DA hybrid that takes the worst things from those series.

No, that's not the only problem. The tac camera is simply badly designed, if you still haven't played the game you will understand what we mean when you do. Actually calling it a tactical camera is almost ironic...
I have the PS4, so I'll probably not have the same issue. Hope you guys get used to it.

And that should not be the case. This is Skyrim all over again, and unlike Skyrim, there won't be any UI mods so we have to wait for Bioware to fix such stupid design choices.
If this had been DA's control scheme from the beginning, would there be complaints?
Different doesn't automatically equal bad.

It's a bit tough to get used to but if you ever wasd'd in DA2 and moved with your finger on the right mouse button, you'll get used to it. On the upside, instead of clicking 1 foot behind that soldier you were aiming at and moving behind him instead of attacking him... you just left click auto target their butts now. It's not that big of a deal. Same with tac cam. You get used to it.

Well, even something simple as a walk toggle that earlier DA games have is gone, for mouse and keyboard users that is. So mouse and keyboard usage is beginning to feel like an afterthought, more than anything else.

That's my feeling on this. The people on PC will be divided into 3 categories:
1. Those who don't notice or don't care.
2. Those who do notice but eventually get use to it.
3. Those who do notice and never get use to it.
I'd be willing to bet my bottom dollar that most people will either get used to it, or at least learn to deal.

They weren't too bad to me. They were a little different than I would have liked, but not a deal breaker. I got used to them fast. WASD is necessary though. It is VERY annoying that you have to "hold" down the mouse button or R to keep attacking. It really hurts my hand, that needs to go.

All I can say is that if you bought this game to use the tactical mode, it is totally broken. I have been playing most of the day and I honestly feel so angry and frustrated. You can all say it will be fine but just wait till you try it. If you are indoors or in a cave, the camera sticks to to roof and wont pull back to give a tactical view. Your in tactical, but you literally cannot see more than one character at a time or zoom any further out.
They totally botched this view.
If you got it to play as a 3rd person hack and slash, you will love it.

I can hardly believe that the only reasonable way to play this new Dragon Age game is to mash the buttons on my Xbox 360 controller and just let the AI control my companions...

Even in the Mass Effect series we have more control over our companions...

Why is the tactical camera mode even there, if it is completely broken? Just to troll us or something?
I get the feeling they didnt have any PC testers for this.

They were probably too busy implementing and testing the Iron Bull sex options or something.
Dude, I am with you 100%. I bought this game solely to play in Tactical and I am appalled. Have you tried it in a cave yet? Laughable! Also, the combat is SO fast, I hardly have any idea what is happening. I wish you could slow it down a bit in tactical.
In its state, tactical combat is 100% broken. I swear if 1 review had talked about this I would not have bought it.

Yeah I tried using tactical mode in a cave... Oh boy.
You can see absolutely nothing.
And in tactical mode I can hardly see what is going on most of the time anyway. The game is just simply not designed for a top-down view.
In its state, tactical combat is 100% broken. I swear if 1 review had talked about this I would not have bought it.
If one of the reviews would have said that tactical combat is completely broken, then I would have never bought it either. Although I might have eventually picked it up for 5 bucks or something.
It is really hard to believe that tactical combat has been completely removed from the series.

Final rant before I stop playing, this is a company that made Infinity engine and afterwards did a solid enough job modifying it for DAO. How, how is it possible to go from isometric view perfection to this abomination?? I wouldn't be so mad if I didn't absolutely love the lore and art behind the game but man...
Are you kidding me? The engine for DAO/DA2 was horrible. It was unstable and ugly.

Actually I thought the fighting in DA2 was fun. Easy, fast and can pause at anytime. to set up shots. What was so wrong with DA2 movement?

But DA 1 was the best DA game which made the series a success, which means they should have at least copy its interface not create a new one that is a piece of crap.

It's tiring, unlike the top down interface in DA 1 where you can play for hours that one will make your hands tired after a few hours.

But it had controls that worked and it played like an RPG and not an action game.
