The KB+M and the tac cam on the PC works fine. Anyone telling you otherwise is lying or moaning for the sake of it.

Yes, I am too bored to be diplomatic about this.

I am playing on hard and 10 hours in have had absolutely no issue using the tac tam or maneuvering the game world, and at no point has my experience been compromised.

Is the control scheme different? Yes, definitely. Can you use it for about 45 minutes and then totally get use to it, and in fact have it feel natural? Yes, without a doubt.

Now if you feel that only one form of control scheme qualifies as "PC" and everything else is console and all that is evil in the world then yeah well, you're are humped.

And honestly I don't care.

So yeah, some people are gonna have issues, some people are gonna hate it cause supposedly CRPG's can only be play a certain way.

Is it new and needs some getting use to? Without a doubt, but broken? Not at all, and you people need to stop saying so.

You lot can have personal opinion and in fact can present it, just stop pretending its fact or that you speak for all PC gamers.

All I can say is that if you bought this game to use the tactical mode, it is totally broken. I have been playing most of the day and I honestly feel so angry and frustrated. You can all say it will be fine but just wait till you try it. If you are indoors or in a cave, the camera sticks to to roof and wont pull back to give a tactical view. Your in tactical, but you literally cannot see more than one character at a time or zoom any further out.

They totally botched this view.

If you got it to play as a 3rd person hack and slash, you will love it.

Being forced to play with WASD and whatever is passing for tactical mode makes me feel like I just bought an FPS, which I really hadn't intended on buying. The tac cam indoors is really terrible. I had no idea what was happening in one fight and just kind of lucked out and beat the bad guy, and I didn't even notice that it happened. And I keep accidentally attacking nothing. I will probably get used to it, but I really just want the effing mouse for movement. This is just such an odd decision.

And also, if I'm clicking on a loot bag, TAKE ME TO THE LOOT! Don't make me break my fingers trying to get close enough to loot. That's also a head-scratcher.

Do I still have to hold down the RMB just to look around while walking?

Yes, in order to free the camera you must hold down the right mouse button.  And you can't walk, as there is no walk toggle.

wait, wait.. let me get this straight - how do you move around? is it WASD? And the RMB attacks?

WASD only for movement.  No more hold left and right mouse to go into mouselook move forward mode.  Left mouse button is default attack, and right mouse button frees the camera when you hold it down.

Wow, please go into a dungeon or building  (or anything with a roof) and tell me the tac cam works. You are the liar.

Regardless. Who cares. Everyone will see in a few hours anyway.

*shrugs*

I am ten hours in, and if you think I have yet to deal with a roof over my head in tac cam then that is your prerogative.

And yes, you can call me a liar as well, so feel free. Though do tell me before you begin accusing me of being a vapid BW fan boy or *le gasp* an EA apologist.

I will need to decide how hard I need to laugh at the ridiculous predictability of it all.

Cheers. :)

The PC version is a just direct console port. Bioware didn't bother to add in any additional functionality.

Why is the tactical camera mode even there, if it is completely broken? Just to troll us or something?

I said at one point that it felt like the tactical camera had been shoddily tacked on to appease players of the old games. Then the "DAI was originally designed as a multiplayer title" bit came out and justified the above and people laughed.

I wonder how funny it is now?

The M/KB controls are pretty clunky, especially when using the tac cam but it's nothing that can't be overcome by simply getting used to it or rebinding some of it. I played around using an 360 controller and found the experience much more enjoyable so I'll be sticking with that. So while I think M/KB can be used just fine, the game was definitely developed with a controller in mind imo.

I am seriously butthurt about this and don't think DA:I is worth the price I paid for, but EA refuses to give me a refund. So much for that "Great Game Gaurantee"... good to know that it is just a bunch of BS.

Really? Why won't they?

It's funny that I didn't know DA:O even had this option until someone posted about it in another thread. Unless I forgot about it, which is quite possible.

How about someone posts a video of the camera failing-- or not failing -- in an indoor environment? Unlike some of the stuff we argue about here, that sounds like something that could be objectively demonstrated.

Rebinding the keys is easy enough for me (though you think the tooltips could read what my rebinds are and stop telling me to press the wrong key to do things, but I'm out of the tutorial bit now anyway).

Holding left mouse button to attack is irritating as ****. I need autoattack back. Combat right now just isn't fun.

Can someone explain how to get people in tac cam to 'hold'? I can't do it on kb+m

I think I agree with you. The controls just don't make sense at times. DA2's are amazing by comparison, and DA:O are godly.

I don't understand what happened.

The game is made with a controller in mind, not a keyboard and mouse.

That might not work, because the camera does in fact sort of, uhh...how to explain this, well if there is a roof you indeed can't see ****, cause the roof does not go, uhh, see through?

But, I simply sort of move the camera at about a 45 degree angle and I am good to go. And that works for me brilliantly.

It was strange at first, really strange considering previous cam had no physical limits. But this has superior mobility and range, and after maybe the 6th hour I naturally changing the camera angles without thinking about it.

So I the end, it works for me.

So a video won't work, cause they have a point. My take is that you can adapt to it without feeling like the experience is compromised.

But hey, I love the clean modern UI they had gone with, so what do I know?

The only, only real complaint I would have is I wish the cam drew out maybe another 15 - 20%, and that would be perfect for me.

You can hold shift in tactical view to pan the camera with mouse or just hold down left and right mouse buttons.

No support from extra ability slots, console centric inventory UI, optimized mouse support both in tactical and action camera, no support for extra mouse buttons, no auto-attack... all these were better implemented on both DA:O and DA2... seems Bioware didnt even make an effort for PC players this time around.

Everyone playing DAI can see that the UI and the tactical combat could use some improvements for PC. Please Bioware give us a patch!

This is one of the reasons why, I, as a PC gamer, have stopped pre-ordering and buying a game at its release date.

I used to do it when I was a naive teenager. However, now I am a thinking adult and buying a PC version of a game at its release date is like buying a newly released car. It will be expensive, it will have annoying issues and if you just waited, you can get the product for much lower price, with issues fixed and with extra stuff

Let the naive do the annoying extended beta test play early, wait for the game to be patched, wait for it to be cheaper...Then buy...Profit all around for me...

I learned my lesson with DA2 and ME3 and didn't buy DA:I. They made this thing for Xbone1 and PS4 and showed finger to PC users and especially to Xbox360 & PS3 from what I heard. At least in Skyrim these problems were fixed with mods while here we gonna probably wait 1 year for them to fix the PC game (See Battlefailed 4) thanks to that Sh*tnuvo anti tampering whatever thing.

Hey.

So, I've been playing quite a bit now, and the PC controls STILL suck. I thought it was just something I had to get used to, but no, they are still very clunky and a huge step back from DAO and DA2.

-The tactical camera is very bad. It doesn't zoom out nearly far enough and moving it feels very clunky as it gets stuck a lot.

-Why can't I press TAB to highlight all enemies in combat?

-If you are playing with an only ranged party and want to snipe enemies from afar, then good luck. The tactical camera has a limited reach which is not nearly enough for an all ranged party.

-You HAVE to go to tactical camera to issue movement and attack orders. WHY?

-Can't use CTRL + A to select everyone.

-V to see stuff is also weird. This feature was annoying in the Witcher 2, and is also annoying here. Why not TAB to see stuff like previous DA titles?

- No auto attack, and no attack cancelation (except if you jump in the middle of the animation).

I might be wrong on some of these points, and I HOPE I am, but so far these are all very annoying issues that should be fixed ASAP, in my opinion.

Is it just me, or do you guys agree? Help me see the light please :D

The game is made for consoles, not PC. Simple as that.
