I didn't even think of that  Damnit Weekes!

Yeah, I'm excited too now about the romance. I mean it has to be interesting at the very least. I just feel bad for the fellow Solassians who are keeping in the dark about spoilers. That's going to be a might big...shock.

Yeah. On the one hand, I'm glad I know so I can prepare myself. On the other hand, I kinda wish I'd gone in blind so I could've experienced it myself. But then again, I always spoil myself for everything and it doesn't really take away from the fun.

I wonder how the Inquisitor will find out. I kinda hope a friendshipped/romanced Solas tells them himself.

I'm still really curious about how his romance starts...

Why does no one romance him?!

I thought that maybe someone would do it to reveal the "super story reasons", but apparently not

Weekes is never to be trusted.

I guess some people like finding out the hard way what happens. I like being prepared for the heartbreak.

Maybe he wasn't romanced because he's full of spoilers? Or most of the people who got to play it weren't into bald elves.

I have to go soon. I kind of want to sit here and hit f5 until there are answers.  :(

That person in the Solas thread said Solas was manipulated to do the breach...maybe that's why he joins the Inquisition to help fix things....

EDIT: Of course this whole thing is just rumours...right? Whatever I'm not going to kill Solas for something he didn't mean to do.  :P

By this point I think the rumours are probably correct. I saw someone in another thread who played the game referring to the Solas card as the "BIGGEST MOST MAJOR spoiler of the entire game" and then saying that "Solas is very important."

But yeah, I'll admit I like the idea of Solas joining up with the Inquisition to look for redemption. It actually reminds me of Atton from KOTOR 2 (and anything that reminds me of Atton is a good thing~).

Yeah I'm pretty sure the traitor thing is true

Now it depends on whether he did it purposely or not

...Why do I always like the traitors?

Not getting an answer at all now :( Which probably means "no". Dang.

If Solas is seeking redemption, I see him as the one party member that won't leave. Of course, why would he betray you then? Unless he thinks you are such a horrible person that he says 'screw it' and joins the baddies since that's the only way he thinks he'll survive.

"No" to what?

Well if he's seeking redemption but discovers that the Inquisitor is a horrible person and abusing their power (which they have because of Solas) then I can see him just becoming disgusted with the whole thing and taking off. Perhaps to show up at a later time to reveal what he did.

"No" to what?

I asked them if they could elaborate, and he just hasn't responded at all, though he's around. So I'm assuming he doesn't want to respond.

Can't really blame them :/

I'm becoming confused by the use of the term "traitor". With folks calling him that or that he is a traitor to the Inquisition.

If he caused the Breach inadvertently and joins the Inquisition to try and fix it/redeem himself, then I don't understand the label of traitor. He was not part of the Inquisition before (in fact, it didn't even exist before except for aaaaaaaaages ago in another format), therefore he betrayed nobody. Just caused a horrible, horrible thing to happen. But that's not really treachery.

To me, he would be a traitor if he joined the Inquisition and THEN started to or continued to do things to undermine fixing the Breach.

So, which is it? I'm becoming confused by how people are using the term and it's very, very specific in meaning to me. Is he a traitor after he joins? Or are people misusing the word and his entire stint with the Inquisition is a redemption journey? If the former, that presents far more problems in my head than the latter, which is entirely inconsequential in my mind and I welcome him with open arms to try and help us right his gigantic whoopsie-daisy.

I'm guessing they're using "traitor" in the sense that he's hiding this big secret from you that gets revealed later on, if he did cause it. He's joining you on false pretenses.

I think it's the former. Which was why I kind of objected before to the use of "traitor". It's fair to say that Anders betrayed Hawke. I don't think it's fair to accuse Solas of betraying the Inquisitor. Betraying the world perhaps? But I think that's iffy if he really didn't know what the outcome would be.

Though it'd be fair for the Inquisitor to be pissed at him if you do his romance and he never reveals himself as the person who opened the breach until he's forced to. But then again, I can see it from his perspective as well; he's probably feeling really guilty and afraid that the Inquisitor will turn away from him if he reveals himself.

I've ran out of likes and I totally agree with you DragonRacer. If he didn't mean to do what he did and joins to help fix the problem..that's not exactly a traitor.

You know, seeing the prologue with new eyes, you've gotta admire the balls it takes to first cause the breach and then walk up to Inquisitor and company and be all friendly and helpful Fade Expert. XD

Okay so here are my thoughts on this. If it's true that he joins the Inquisition to redeem himself because he inadvertently caused/helped cause the breach then he is not a traitor. And actually this makes more sense to me as to why he would be so helpful at the beginning. Likely he had an "Oh ****, what did I do?! I have to fix this!" moment. And then at the end of the game when you find all this out you have the choice to kill him for it or to let him live because he did help.

If he purposely caused the breach and joined the Inquisition as a spy or to make sure nothing went wrong with the Elder One's plans he already failed at that by letting the quizzy live. All he would have had to do was say "I'm sorry I can't stop this mark from spreading and killing him/her." So this idea doesn't work for me. In the prologue stream the spirit in the Fade memory wanted the PC dead. To have him/her still alive and able to seal the Breach and the smaller rifts would be counter productive if he wanted them to remain open.

The latter also doesn't fit with a lot of what we already know about Solas. That Gareth David-Lloyd said he was very moral. That he was happy the wolf pack was freed of the demons influence. His friendship with Cole and Varric.

About Fen'Harel I don't think Bioware would ever make any of the gods in this verse truly real. They've stated multiple times that they won't ever have proof that the Maker exists or not. I imagine the same goes for the Creators, Forgotten Ones, and Fen'Harel. As much as I want Flemeth to be Fen'Harel. I'm not even sure the Old Gods are really gods at all or are just really powerful dragons. In world of such powerful magic anyone or anything could claim to be a "god".

Yes. This. So much.

Also, imagining Solas's "Oh ****, what did I do?!" moment is kind of...adorable.

 Annnnnd out of likes. Drat.

I... would call that a lie by omission, really. If he's joining to help fix the Breach, it's not necessarily false pretenses... just missing the little detail that he, whoops, caused it.

Eh, I can see this from his angle pretty well. If I f**ked up that badly, no way would I want to admit that to anyone. Especially not someone I was starting to feel romantic for. I can tooootally see that. Poor guy. :(

GDL did call him "nails".

The fact that he said "moral", too, helps ease some tension.

This is starting to make me feel better from yesterday, if it's shaping out to be like this, honestly. My woobie/maternal instincts are starting to kick in. I'm a gigantic sap for redemption journies. Lord. I'm having flashbacks. I was part of the Loghain Defense Brigade five years ago. I'm... getting a feeling I'll be Solas Defense Squad now, too. LMAO

If the rumors are true, you've got to feel bad for him. How must it feel to be the person who opened the Breach and helped cause all that death and destruction? That's certainly got to take its toll on a person.

I love you.

I would like this, but I'm out of them.

If it plays out like you hypothesized, uuuunnnnffff. That is all in my feels and Solas is gonna be just fine with my Quizzy.

I think it would make an amazing story to parallel Anders in DA2.

One apostate mage purposely causes death and destruction to try and prove a point.

Another apostate mage accidentally causes death and destruction and desperately seeks to try and make it right as much as he possibly can.

I CAN TOTALLY GET BEHIND THAT. OH, I HOPE THIS IS WHAT'S HAPPENING.

I'm starting to get that woobieish feeling too. XD

I wonder if he tries to keep the Inquisitor and the other members of the team at arm's length because of this?

Wait a sec... Guilty about something he did in the past? Seeking redemption? Really smart and knows it? HE REALLY IS DRAGON AGE MORDIN, OH MY GOD.
