I think that might not matter, actually. If you aren't a constant dick to them, do their personal quests (and not in a way that they dislike), and don't make obvious "this will make them leave" decisions, then I think you won't necessarily have to worry about approval. Like in Mass Effect 2 where if you do a loyalty mission that character is your buddy for life, I think the personal quests have the potential to give you huge approval bumps.

That just makes me more suspicious of him, oddly enough.

I am suddenly remembering Allan calling the romance "interesting." I guess we know why that's the best he could come up with now.

I was thinking the same, kind of contradicts what he thinks about spirits & the living coexisting. Surely if he was for it, and with the Breach meaning that coexistence is made possible, then wouldn't Solas support its growth?

Again, could be wrong =P

It's more complicated than that  ;)

Yeah, it is kind of contradictory, isn't it? I think he'd be more in favor if there was a way to do it peacefully. The Breach and rifts are kind of a rough way to go about it.

Maybe Solas wanted the anchor for himself, but we got it instead! He wanted to walk bodily into the Fade and live there by stealing the villain's toy.

So that may be why he sticks around and eventually betrays the Inquisitor? The ability to physically walk in the Fade might be something he'd want pretty badly.

But Cory couldn't remove it, so Solas wouldn't be able to either. But

Spoiler

I still can't figure out how Solas caused the breach if he was chilling out in a tavern when it happened. Unless it was like a time bomb. (Anderrrrrrrss!! shakefist.gif)

Given time with the Inquisitor, he may figure it out?

That's a good point about him causing the breach, given the spoilers there, it seems unlikely that he caused it.

It's funny that while some of us are reading 4chan, they're reading and quoting some of you guys there.

He could have done something that caused a chain reaction that either eventually caused the breach or created the correct conditions for someone else to cause the breach and that would explain how he could be at the tavern but still be involved in creating the breach.

Also I caved and watched the stream that has the Solas flirt in it (I have this weird logic that reading spoilers is okay but watching them isn't). I think that I'll need to ban myself from the internet from Tuesday until I can play the game on the Friday so that I don't accidentally spoil the entire romance or the ending.

Possible.... I didn't think about Mass effect way. It's good news I'm just used to old ways of DA. Kinda control freak I strategize way too much when I play RPGs

I'm really digging his thoughts on spirits. I know a lot of the people on the forum are very distrusting of them in general, but I've always been fascinated. I think they have the capacity to do good or bad, just like people. As was mentioned prior, Valor can help you. Wynne's spirit was compassionate and helpful, to the point that it was willing to follow Wynne's desire for it to leave her and enter Evangeline instead to save her life.

And Justice... I adored Justice. And almost anytime I see people talk about DA2, they talk about hating what Justice did to Anders or wishing they could remove/kill Justice from Anders. And it makes me sad. Because, to me, Justice was a person, too. A largely good person who saw beauty in our world. Yes, he did corrupt Anders but I wholly believe Anders corrupted him just as much. Their union was tragic and bad for the both of them... but Anders is the face of it and Anders was someone a lot of people wanted to romance, so they naturally seem to latch onto a "poor Anders/damn you, Justice" mentality.

When all this while, as much as I did like Anders... I weep far more for Justice. Inhabiting a living host with living emotions was too much, not like the dull memories of Kristoff's body, and so he was warped and changed just as much as Anders. But nobody mourns for the spirit that once was. Only for the mage. :(

So, I'm going to love geeking out with Solas because it seems we very much agree on spirits and that we can be friends with them. Don't so much agree about merging the two worlds, though.

I am suddenly remembering Allan calling the romance "interesting." I guess we know why that's the best he could come up with now.

I remember that. I also remember calling him out on it a bit, since "interesting" can mean oh so many things, good or bad.

Link? I kinda wanna go lurk now.

(I have this weird logic that reading spoilers is okay but watching them isn't).

You're not alone in that! It's why I'm here. I don't mind reading spoilers or seeing screen shots/short gifs. But I can't watch any of those livestreams. Too much. Need to experience fully myself first-hand, even if I read basically a freaking play-by-play beforehand. :P

The only thing we have confirmed is "traitor". It's hard to say if he started before he met the Inquisitor or if it's something he does late in the game.

The "he caused the Breach" rumor is just that: a rumor, there's nothing to back it up. So there's no telling what he does, what his reasons are, or when it happens.

@DragonRacer: I felt worse for Justice too. He was just as much a victim but he does seem to get hate piled on him.

Uhhh....didn't know it was a ?? that we couldn't keep him alive, just that he "could" go *splat!* (like other companions potential outcomes).

That....could be a deal breaker. For me. Don't have it in me for another dead LI, with no other game choice available.

Crap. I guess I will have to completely spoil myself on his fate, before I play. Ah well. It is, what it is. <_<
