I'm interested in KE, but I can't pass up Solas reacting to Lavellan becoming a rift mage.

He didn't seem ignorant of the fact I was flirting with him to me. Something in his tone of voice and the way he approves. Plus you can kind of fluster him with the last one. Bear in mind that none of this is fresh in my mind anymore so don't come at me with sticks when you play and it's different than what I tell you! ![]()
As for my Lavellan, I tried to make her distinctly different from my Warden and Hawke. Between those two I played the noble but incredibly jaded knight who throws her entire life into her duty because she's kind of lost the will to live after losing everyone she loves and the kind of an as*hole guy who has a kind heart but is a bit greedy, doesn't like to take anything too seriously and hides his true feelings behind cringe-worthy humor.
So this time I decided to finally go with a character that was nice and open and optimistic! Cari is proud of being Dalish but is very neutral and accommodating and curious about other races and cultures. She's the "don't worry, everything will be alright" kind of person. She's a bit of a reluctant leader but has more leadership chops than she thinks. Her big flaw is that she can think and make decisions too rashly and can be too soft-hearted and sensitive which isn't necessarily the best thing considering all the horrible stuff going down. She's a mage and will probably be knight enchanter. I like the idea of her being an up close and personal fighter despite her demeanor.
She's drawn to Solas because she's fascinated by his ideas even if he rubs her the wrong way at first with how he talks about her people. She likes his ideals that everyone can live peacefully one day with no fear of spirits, even if she doesn't quite believe it. She admires his mind and his drive.
Basically Solas is getting the character that would get most crushed by a betrayal. Go figure! ![]()

Rift mage just seems to fit my Lavellan best, so I'm going with that even if it means having two of them in the party.

Oooh~ I wanna see flustered Solas. He's usually so damned unflappable! What was it like?

When I say flustered, I should probably say flustered for him. He just kind of paused for a moment in his response and sounded surprised.
At least that's how I remember it going.

Is the flirting more straightforward or subtle?
The first flirt is kinda weird, suddenly being like "DUN WORRY I'LL PROTECT U WITH MY STICK ARMS"
But it's still better than Blackwall's I guess, that was like the weirdest thing ever ![]()

I PM'd the guy from the Blackwall thread for clarity on whether Solas still dies/leaves after rejoining and his answer is no. The only way for Solas to die is if you don't have high enough friendship to convince him to return. Or maybe that should be said the only way to save him is to have high enough friendship but that's the only point he can die at.
And this will surprise no one but he recommends playing an Inquisitor who helps people.
Technically still hearsay but comforting hearsay.

I didn't ask and I'm not going to bother him again. I just wanted to know if there is a way to keep Solas around.

Hon think of the positive just because we don't have proof doesn't mean everything is going to go downhill. Think more on the positive cause the negative is just a total D.i.c.k
You're right. It's better to hope for the best even if eventually disappointed because at least you're happy while you're hoping. ![]()
Edit: I think my elf will be a bit odd amongst her clan and extremely introverted. Most of the time she keeps her thoughts to herself, unless she's asked for help understanding something, then she can really get talking. She is slow at letting people in and forming friendships and for this reason she can be seen as cold by those who don't know her well. She is a very reluctant First but was kind of forced into it when her magical powers surfaced. Her Keeper sees her potential, her keen mind and her good heart underneath the stoic exterior so she knows she could grow into a good leader in time. She enjoys going off by herself, has a naturally covert presence, and is good at finding her way in the wilderness so she was the perfect choice for a spy at the conclave.
She is drawn to Solas initially because she can tell he spends much of his time thinking, as she does, and he has much knowledge that she's never considered. She thinks she could learn from him, and perhaps he from her. He's also an elf in a group of mostly humans so she gets a certain comfort of home being around him, since she cannot go back yet.

I liked that flirt. It was subtle, and I thought it was wonderful from a characterization point of view. My Lavellan sees a fellow mage who saved her life and put his own on the line in order to help, so she (perhaps a bit rashly) tells him that she won't let anything happen to him.

A fellow elven mage, no less. Because that's probably the worst thing you can be in Thedas barring maybe a qunari mage.

Yeeep. And even the Qunari have the benefit of being big and exotic and intimidating. Elves are the most marginalized population in Thedas. People are used to seeing them as servants and less.
Also I'm so grateful that the flirts are more teasing than 'I want to get in your pants'. Because my Lavellan isn't interested in Solas like that right from the get-go. She basically does the flirt options because she's annoyed at how chill he is and wants to poke him a bit.

Haha well maybe I just found it weird because I'd never dare say something like that to someone I just met ![]()
But so long as it works for Solas!
With all this specualtion, suddenly this seems relevant again

Insert female Lavellan ![]()

This may be my hopefully optimistic side speaking, but this just seems right to me. I think in part, it may be due to some of the official reviewers. I didn't read or watch all of them (to say the least, LOL!), but I did notice a pattern with many of them. They seemed to really like Solas.

Sorry, didn't mean for my post to be confusing. The person I asked said that Solas can be kept. There's a point where you have three options: convince him to stay (and he'll stay permanently), send him away (you'll be forced to kill him if you take this option), and outright kill him.
So long as your friendship is high enough to convince him, he'll stay.

If it's like a Zevran situation it will be fine. I never had a problem keeping Zevran. ![]()
Of course on the forums I'll have to endure all the people bragging about killing the "traitor" that they never used or talked to in camp, just like with Zevran, but c'est la vie.

Reading these three paths, also makes me think of one of my drunken theories: if you send him away, perhaps he gets possessed, while trying to reestablish his task that he originally started to do. And maybe it isFen'harel that possesses him...??? Dun-dun-dun! O.O
(...I swear that I am currently not drunk. Had originally thought about the "possession" angle, while on the tipsy side.)
I'm pretty curious about the whole you have to kill him if you try to send him away thing. Does he try to insist on staying? Does he want to die? Is he planning something incredibly stupid?

Posté 16 novembre 2014 - 06:45
I thought "send him away" was more of a "let him leave without killing him".

I'm guessing "send him away" means he teams up with the baddie, like you siding with the mages with low Fenris approval means you end up killing Fenris later.
