The level cap is 20...
Also IGN guy was running around post-game in his review and he was level 18.
Wasn't it said that there is no cap? I think I heard Mark say in a stream that completionists can reach 25-27 or smth.

You all have made me laugh so much today. Thanks. ![]()

Most of the reviewers skipped a lot of content to get through the main story.

I thought it was a "soft cap" of level 30 or something.
It's going to be an interesting first playthrough with a dynamic of "Solas, I love you but I don't trust you one bit."
*wind blows a door shut in Skyhold*
SOLAS IS BETRAYING US....oh wait, false alarm. My bad.
Tsk. I don't trust any of them not a tiny bit. Now I'm paranoid even about people who normaly I would, well, trust (or more like "trust") - such as Cass or even Varric.
This is driving me crazy.
Okay, today's wackiness has spawned two wild-ass theories for me, both of which have roots in The Masked Empire (coincidentally enough, a book penned by Solas's writer, Patrick Weekes).
DON'T READ BELOW IF YOU WANT TO AVOID SPOILERS FOR THE MASKED EMPIRE
But seriously, we're in a spoiler group, so I assume you don't care/mind at this point. ![]()
So, anyone familiar with the book knows that Felassan is a Dalish-seeming mage who clearly knows way more about ancient elves than anyone does, and also doesn't claim the Dalish as any clan of his. He refuses to let Briala give him the password for the newly-reactivated eluvians. Felassan later meets his mysterious boss in the Fade and reports that he does not have the password (so, mysterious boss - who many believe to be Fen'Harel - wants access to the eluvian network). The boss kills Felassan, whether because Felassan betrayed him or simply because Felassan failed in his task of obtaining the password.
Working off that... what if Felassan really was an ancient elf? What if Fen'Harel found him and woke him from uthenera in order to try and gain access to the eluvians? Why? Well, seems the eluvians connected a lot of really old and rich/nobility elven areas. Maybe He wants to round up other sleeping ancient elves or some power they hold for... whatever reason a trickster god has for doing crazy things.
So, maybe Solas is also an ancient elf, awoken by Fen'Harel, to try and do what Felassan failed at. Or even if he isn't, he still could be having his strings pulled by Fen'Harel to try and trick a way into the eluvian network. And which Inquisitor would have a natural interest in ancient elven stuff? A Dalish Quizzy.
Another possible theory is that maybe Solas is just on his own agenda. He's been in and out of the Fade a LOT. Perhaps... perhaps he has discovered where the Creators or the Forgotten Ones are locked away from Fen'Harel's Great Betrayal. Maybe he's trying to free/release them for some purpose... maybe even to try and help fight the Big Bad? Fen'Harel would likely not want either side freed, so I could see Him wanting to hunt down and stop Solas (explaining the scary tarot card). Again, who might have the most interest in gods from elven lore? A Dalish Quizzy.
Both are perhaps reasons why Solas is capable of bonding/loving/maybe totally manipulating a female Dalish Quizzy? I dunno.
Something that keeps rattling around in the back of my head... Chris Priestly, who used to be a BioWare employee, had posted a tweet a while back... long since lost in the Twitter thread now... that basically said "Solas is someone folks will be talking about for years to come." That didn't say in a positive or negative manner, just that it sounds like he will be VERY memorable and/or have a major impact. I remember fearing "shades of Anders" back when I first read it.
Not feeling any more comforted now than I did then. ![]()
I think I liked it better when we just thought he wanted babies
...and I wasn't really a big fan of that!
I've considered the ancient elf/Fen'harel/Felassan connection. It would make sense.
That Chis Priestly quote is one of the reasons people think Solas is a traitor to begin with, isn't it? ![]()

Maybe he does want babies. Evil babies. To finish his work.

Yup, I think his comment is what set everyone off. Could I handle spawning evil babies...I need to give it some thought...
Well this has made me more excited than before honestly. I can't say I particularly care if he betrays us as long as he loves us and we get the option to turn dark with him. Ha maybe he's that potential "darker" love interest that some people were asking for in the feedback section, I'd lol.

Solas Jr.
Solas Jr.
...I'm going to have nightmares.
Solas Jr.
People have clamored for a "villain" LI... which also makes me scared.

And this is part of the Nightmare Fuel I'm suddenly having about why a shady/betrayer/villain Solas (if that's what happens) would want with a female Dalish Quizzy. That or some sort of horrible rite/blood magic or any other amount of Nightmare Fuel you can imagine.
Gah! Really want some freaking context on that card now. I didn't really want to go through my first playthrough giving dear Solas the creepy eye the entire time. And I'll try not to. But argh. I'm down the rabbit hole now.
Likely unrelated to us, as we took our talk off the main forum, per se, but maybe some hope from the most unlikely of sources? Saw this on DG's Twitter...
Heh. It seems the fandom is reacting to a certain thing *exactly* as I predicted they would.
Perhaps there is a grave misinterpretation going on here.

Yeah, this is the only thing I think I'd have a problem with. If it gets really skeevy where the romance is concerned.
Well, no, the big thing I have a problem with is "do Cole's feelings get hurt?" But that's a close second. ![]()
I think Solas might just be into female elves, guys. ![]()
I'm thinking his "super story reasons" have to do with why he's elf-gated. If he's an ancient elf/in league with Fen'Harel, that's already an answer to that question for me. He might just be straight on top of that. Easier to have a straight/gay romance only than another bisexual one, after all, and he and Cullen were added late.
Or maybe he feel like he can only connect to a Dalish lady. Which would also make a bit of sense.
Perhaps there is a grave misinterpretation going on here.
That is not unlikely. Most of the evidence we have are little hints that Solas isn't what he seems (obviously) and a context free quote/picture and the card/him being unable to be used in the party - also without context.
I think there's cause to watch Solas carefully but I don't think he's 10000% going to be a bad guy either. They did say that there would be no villain romances.
Of course now I'm thinking of the possibility of some sort of heroic sacrifice on his part, so.
Guys please stop thinking Solas and the romance/friendship is nothing but doom and gloom. I know that video pretty much shocked us but that doesn't exactly mean he's going to be a traitor/Fen'Harel etc.
And even if he does betray us it will be because we had a bad relationship with him...kinda like Zevran and Isabela etc.
