I am ghastly slow at this game. Futzing around in the Hinterlands, Storm Coast, and now into the Fallow Mire. And I still only have Solas, Cass and Varric. :pinched: LOL!

Actually, I am not even sure how I get the other recruits. Do I have to venture into Orlais first? I get so caught up on exploring, looting and doing side quests, that I just haven't advanced much story wise. I am having a blast though. ;)

Have taken two flirts (or is it three....) with Solas, but I am taking the convo's slowly. Trying to space them out. Really enjoy his banter, but damn I nearly Gibb slapped him, when he once again announced "There is an elven artifact about." About WHERE, Chuckles?!? I have found a couple, without him announcing it, but everytime he has actually said it, I can't seem to find them. :P Ahh well...still adore you, ya crazy elf-wolf-thing.

If you pick the 'right' choices in his last romance scene the Inquisitor can tell him that she loves him, to which he replies "In another world...". The Inquisitor asks him "Why not this one?" and he just says that 'he can't'. He looks entirely devastated when he leaves. The scene is up on youtube and it is very heartbreaking.

That's not a trickster god that tries to have fun toying with Lavellan's feelings. It's not even a real end to something. He tells her how beautiful she is, only to leave her afterwards, without an explanation. I can live with sad endings, but open endings like this aren't really embedded in stone. They leave room for more and I hope that they will give us more in the future.

What is so wrong about a possible DLC that can end in possible happiness or heartbreak, but at least a closure? It's great for everyone that wants their Inquisitor to react in a certain way towards him leaving her behind. They could easily give us the option to forgive him, stay by his side or realize that he can't be with them. That's not a faulty narrative, it's simply closure that we do not have as of yet.

Possible happiness with a god goes into the realm of worshipping. Just saying.

It's not like Morrigan didn't get one, you know what's stupid?  The inevitable putting me off wanting to finish the game...

But would she really worship him if she decided to stay with him? Would he even WANT to be worshipped? Our Dalish elf can actually be played rather anti-dalish. She doesn't even know that he is a god at this point. I don't really know why you decided to point this out, since I never spoke about worshipping at all. We see gods that fall in love with mortals in a ton of cultures - almost all of them end sadly, but, well, we know that kind of narrative already. I simply decided to speak about a possible closure, be it happy or sad or something in-between. Because this was the general theme in this thread right now.

Im not entirely sure they were really gods. He's something that was considered a god. Along with Mythal and the others. He's made several comments that the ancient elven gods weren't exactly what you think, they were something beyond understanding. After all, Solas was sooo surprised when he was in the fade physically during the warden quest. Even he could never enter it physically and flemmeth obviously has her limits. Plus they can be killed.
I'm hoping that you can choose to go with him in any dlc if we get one. I understand what he's trying to do and I don't think he ever had evil intentions. What we know of the dread wold and the other gods, as said many times, is wrong.
Also flemmeth, if you meet her in fade, tells you she's possessed by mythal. That she really was that old woman of the witch of the wilds legend that was betrayed by her husband. Mythal came to her and the joined and it sounds like flemmeth twisted her in a way. Thats why she needs to hop bodies and creates her "daughters" to sustain hersel and mythal for whatever her goals are. Her rant sounded super vengeful and shady. She is both flemmeth and mythal.

As for Solas, he is the dread wolf. He went to sleep long ago and woke to find that his actions before he slept didnt change the world for the better and this are worse off. So he tried to change it again. But he was to weak so he tricked Cory to do it for him but then everything went wrong. So he joined the inquestion to fix things.

He goes to Mythal in the end to explain his remorse for his crimes, which is genuine. But, he doesn't want to die. So he kills flemmeth before she can kill him which is what she was about to do. Then absorbs her power and maker no what his plans are.

He wants nether the old gods or man to rule, he wants a balance and for spirits to be free.
I don't think he wanted to ever be seen as a god or worshiped. He betrayed both sides in the legend on hopes with out either ruling the world, Peace and balance would be gained.

Anyways! That's how I took it.

So if we get a dlc, I hope we get a chance to go with him. Or at least have a night of passion before he goes away again. ;)

I must say I'm really glad they got the one year extension and added Solas and Cullen as LIs. I'm not nearly as fond of my female Inquisitors' four original options as I thought/hoped I would be. I would have ended up playing mostly guys.

Also at the end, Leliana says her scouts can't find Solas anywhere. If you romanced him she says " I know you two were close" and you say "He just left... Didn't even say goodbye." And she says "Im sure he had good reasons for why and one day he will be back. Ill keep looking for him in the mean time"
Also she says "who knows, he could come walking back through those gates at any moment"

Which just said to me "Hope Hope Hope"

Just. So. Heartbreaking.

For both of them, honestly.

This leaves me with a really goofy but sad mental image of Solas out in the woods somewhere... a cold, snowy night... trying to soothe his soul with nature and assuming his wolf form... and then, unbidden, a memory of her. Saving the demon-possessed wolf pack. And the memory hurts.

The night is pierced with a long, mournful howl. Steeped with sorrow... pain... loneliness... and, most of all, loss. Infused with keening for what might have been, but can never be. The call of a wolf lost and looking for his mate.

And somewhere in the distance, perhaps our Lavellan hears the wail. And she wonders why does the Dread Wolf cry so?

Oh, if only she knew that, in her heart, she knows why. She knows.

Oh Chibi you're amazing for mentioning this, because no one had and I really needed to see it, I think I'm feeling tired and the whole thing has me feeling a bit down, I know, I'm pathetic!

Indeed.

But, if he thinks he's breaking things off to follow his duty and/or spare her future heartbreak, I could see him mourning alone and thinking that leaving her be is best. For example, if you choose to quit drinking alcohol for your own sake/health, going back for a sip every now and then is not helpful. Kind of a weird example, but best I got at the moment. :P

NOT THAT I TOTALLY DON'T WANT A HAPPY ENDING HOOK-UP. BECAUSE I DO. MAKER, I DO.

Mind if I take this idea and turn it into a short comic?

By all means. I have no artistry except words, and I've got a bad track record of finishing fanfics, so... absolutely, a comic from this would be lovely to see!!!

I'm sorry.  :crying:

If it helps, I'm hurting, too.

And also putting off main quest stuff as long as humanly possible because I don't wanna lose my Solas. :(

I finished the game and then loaded a save right before I took on the last quest and I'm using it so that I never have to let Solas leave. :U

I mean... eventually I will have to let him go (when DLC comes out or whatever)... but I don't want to.  :crying: I just wistfully sigh at everything when he's not around with my Lavellan, it's really bizarre. I knew I'd like him, but I didn't expect to like him this much.

He really doesn't trust or like my Trevelyan and it's actually making it harder to play as her because I'm so fond of him. u_u I just keep wanting to go back to my Lavellan... I should tweet at Weekes and tell him he ruined my millions of planned DA:I playthroughs.  :P

I think that once I finish, I'll be going back to the CC and creating a new Lavellan. But I know that it isn't gonna be the same, since my Irayna is my canon and Solas is her romance and IM JUST HUrtingSOMUcH

Don't worry, you're not alone! These are exactly my feelings too, except I haven't even finished the game yet... I adore him, the feelings being real, in a way...make it worse, if he were cruel and evil I could hate him.. but that's not an option.. why'd I have to be like this?! Lol

Has anyone worked on translating the Elven that Solas uses throughout the game? Or the short conversation he has with the Nightmare demon in the fade?

I don't know if it was discussed already but In the temple of mythal there's a codex entry on fen'harel that says harel was mistranslated in the age of towers and doesn't mean trickster, it means rebellion, making fen'harel the god of rebellion which makes a lot of sense.

I've been wanting to know this too! The last romance scene he says a whole sentence after he takes away the tattoos and I can't find a translation. I know in the second scene he says something like "I love you, my heart" but he says it while walking away kinda casual.

It's all confusing lol. I used wiki to translate but the last sentence gas words not on there.

So there are vallaslin to correspond with all the gods except Fen'harel, right? And now we found they're actually slave markings, right? And Solas like to 'grr' at the Qun and Tevinter because slavery. He really tore into Bull's friend for joining the Qun. And he griped that when the war (Orlais) is over the peasants will still be expected to bring in the harvest. He also seems wary of people with power and people who want power.

You're right, it does make sense.
