yeah, my lavellan is angry and aggressive. There's variations of the scene on YouTube:

here's an angry version

i think the same channel has other versions too

She's standing there, all angry and stuff, hands flailing around but the lovely music is still playing. :D

Nope. Lol. We are all wondering and trying to find any type of hope.
Someone did ask if there would be a wolf hunt dlc and weekes said "we'll see".

...do you think ask on twitter to the devs if there are project of post ending DLC is too obvious?

Sorry, I've finally gotten to my lap top! I trust the wolf pack and do not mind direct linking you to my twitter & my tweet to PW.  (The gibberish read something along the lines of: any chance of a "Wolf Hunt DLC" for the broken-hearted elven inquisitors out there? #HappyEndingPlease

I knew what was coming, but when it actually happened to me I got pretty angry xD I'm glad they put in a option to be angry
But I love the one where you tell him you love him too, when he says " In another world" and Lavellan asked why not this one it broke my heart :(
Solas has become my favourite character and romance, he needs a DLC!

I chose that teary eyed choice first but when he made that comment about another world it reminded me too much of what Anders said when I ended our romance post chantry attack. (Don't want to admit how many times I replayed his last scene. I even backtracked right before my Samson fight because I thought my well choice was the reason he broke up!)

Bioware is awesome to let us get pissed! And they did such a good job explaining why your Lavellan might keep her Vallaslin(?spelling?). My character, Ithilia, is very close to her clan, and although she acknowledges Dalish mistakes she's proud to be one and represent them as a whole.

Grr. Burn all of you!! :P

I bought the game because you all made it sound so awesome (for my 360 because I'm not getting the PC version until the issue with the controls is fixed). I started it yesterday afternoon, with a human female because I didn't want to be tempted by Solas, but I still want to do the damned romance with him! He is so incredibly awesome. Like a smartass assassin wolf man. My human inquisitor is already smitten. Too bad he doesn't like humans. Now I'll be tempted to do a game as an elf, but I don't want the heartbreak of hooking up with him and him leaving!

Okay my Solas loving friends. I am in rant mode so prepare yourselves.

Solas's romance was amazingly well written, and no matter my conflicting emotions I do not regret romancing him. With that said, here are some of my jumbled thoughts.

Why did Solas even let himself get into such a committed relationship with Lavellan? He knows what he is and he said on more than one occasion that it wasn't a good idea, but he went into the relationship with little self-control. He must have known that he would eventually break it off, Solas seems like a planner. Given the fact he's an ancient elven god you'd think he'd have more self-control (I for one appreciate the lack of willpower though).

Second thought. Lavellan never got suspicious of Solas? Given the fact Origins was about a year I'd expect Inquisition would be in a similar time frame. So, all that time together and Lavellan never asked him about his past or inquired for more information about the ancient elves? Did Solas just lie to her? Or skirt around the answers? I mean, as the player Solas oozed suspicious. You'd think Lavellan, who spent so much time with him, might have noticed. Okay, love is blinding. I'll bite. But what about the others-- Vivienne or Dorian didn't think his magical knowledge and abilities were mysterious. No one else thought his timing was too convenient?

And lastly, I really want to know when Solas decided he was going to break it off with Lavellan. Because he was being so sweet and romantic during that scene, not giving any foreshadowing that he was going to end it soon. He even made it seem like you two would go to bed later on... And then... AFTER you pure your heart out to him and kiss he ends it!!!! Err. And depending on your choices he admits he still cares about you. After the Orb broke he told you that what you had was real! Salt in the tricking wound Solas! For a wise ancient wolf elf you really don't know how to end a romance gently! >:( Aaaaand he told your Lavellan (depending on dialogue choices) that he would explain after the battle with Coriphenus! Liar liar pajama pants on fire (my maturity level I'd rapidly decreasing).

Ugghhhh. So yeah. I'm ranted out. My feelings are in turmoil and my poor Lavellan has no idea what's going on. :'(

Thoughts? Please share!

Thank you!  :D

Is not a "no". So there is still hope. Just as for our Lavellans, waiting for their elven mage to came back and explain himself  (as much as I'd prefer the story to find a real resolution, at least this ending let players have hope, and headcanon, if they like, a future reunion. Much better than a King Alistair/Tabris. No serie B lover or discarded like a old t-shirt.)

I kind of believe that Solas wanted to break things off when he took her to the waterfall area already - at least when they were finally there. The way he says to her that he 'must tell her the truth' because it is the biggest thing that he can give her (Lavellan can ask what the two of them even are, but Solas doesn't give a clear answer) kind of implies that he has an idea of what is to come.

He could have simply told her that they would stay together forever now or that this won't work out, but he offers her the truth about the vallaslin and says that he can take it away instead. What else can he give her at this point, if he knows that it will end in pain really soon? Maybe he still played along because he wanted to tell her the truth and let her decide what to do with it, because he thinks that's what he owes her.

So he plays along until he can finally speak that truth that is so important to him - because Lavellan is important to him and worth more than the slave markings on her skin - and decides that he can, at the very least, push himself to break things off now. Last kiss and all.

...thoughts?

He said it himself - he was selfish, she's unique and world-changing, and losing her would hurt. He'd been alone for so long and never thought he'd find someone in all Thedas who could take his attention from the Fade and yet against all the odds, he does. It's been so long since he's had a non-spirit friend that he could trust. I don't think he can help himself and I don't blame him. He's so full of such quiet sadness and loneliness that I cannot begrudge him this. Wolves are pack animals after all. :( He was just aching for companionship. He sealed the rest of his kind - apart from Mythal - away after all, for what he must have thought was the greater good. I think he went to sleep after doing so because being the last (or one of the last, since Mythal was about) must have felt unbearably lonely.

He always knew he was going to have to end it - that's clear from when he says "it would be kinder in the long run". I think it was foreshadowed from lines like that and when he tries to warn her away, say "we shouldn't, it's not right, even here", stuff like that.

As to his wisdom... Solas is undoubtedly wise and smart but he's made huge mistakes in the past (dialogue referencing the mistakes of a younger elf - which I presume to be the mistake of sealing the gods away) and in the present - giving the orb to Cory. Even gods are flawed. That's if you even think the elven gods were gods at all - more likely they were simply ancient elves with power (mages maybe, or nobles). As ancient elves they'd be immortal.

I see what you mean about playing along so he can break the slave tattoos to her. He thinks telling her the truth is like one last gift. (My Lavellan kept the tattoos, Dalish power! Mudblood and proud! I don't know where I was going with that :-\)
Still, he definitely was leading her on. I mean it couldn't have been "Let's not go to a place that will make you think you're finely getting a smexy scene but instead go talk somewhere private but less romantic. Okay, so I love you and want to share some heartbreaking information with you. Yes, those are slave marks and yes I just made you play the whole game with slave marks. But I didn't share this to cause you pain, I'll cause you pain another way. It's over between us, but I love you. I didn't mean to hurt you, but went into this relationship knowing it would end up hurting you. I don't want to distract you from your work, regardless of the fact there's nothing more distracting then a recent and painful break up. Shhh, it's okay, I'm not going to explain any of this to you, but it's for your own good. I'll tell you later, but I won't actually. Oh BTW, this is our last real conversation. I don't like goodbyes and much rather put you through the pain and duress of being abandoned. And no cheating and using Cole to find me-- forget Cole, forget!"

Few, that got out of hand quick.

Hmm. Yeah. Darn strange wolf mage spirit god and his flaws and lack of willpower! (Just kidding I adored being emotionally broken inside). When do you think he decided to break up with Lavellan? Before the final romance scene? Or during?

I think he took her out there with the intention of ending it, since he always knew he would have to do so. :) He tells her what she means to him, reveals a huge truth (vallaslin: and potentially gives her the gift of taking them away), allows himself one last kiss (selfish wolf that he is) and then ends it. He let it go on for as long as he could but the final battle was looming.

Beautifully tragic and really deep imo all in all.

In an ulterior ending my Lavellan's puffy red eyes and lack of sleep blurred her vision and caused her death. Coriphenus won and the world is destroyed. How do you feel now Solas!?!!!

I don't know if it was this thread or the regular Solas thread (I was reading both) but somebody mentioned a rumor that Patrick Weekes said he listened to Sarah McLachlan's "Surfacing" when writing, I can totally believe it. I popped it up on my IPod and dang the song "Do What You Have to Do" is so fitting to Solas's romance.

I was also thinking that it's a good thing Lavellan doesn't shout "dread wolf take you!" as a battle cry like Merill did. It would probably offend Solas X)

Thankfully I finally got his second quest after the ball and no dance scene for me! weird.... Anyway I find it interesting how he mentioned how much he missed court intrigue and when you ask him if he's done that before he almost fumbles over his words (one of the few questions I got disapproval from ha). It was really interesting how much Solas seemed to fit right in Orlais and enjoy himself.  I wonder if I hadn't spoiled myself earler if I would have guessed something was up because that whole conversation was pretty shady but hindsight is 20/20 I guess.

Damn I just looked up McLachlan's "do what you have to do". Do you think this bodes ill for us?  Now I'm depressed again.

I honestly thought this was the most beautiful Bioware romance written but If there is not going to be a DLC or some kind of expansion then I don't think I'll be able to go through with romancing him again. He will be my canon romance but I almost wish I could have liked and attached myself to a different love interest. I kind of feel silly for feeling sad over a game character but with so much going on in my life I would have loved at least a little happiness. I'm always attracted to the complicated ones it seems. :(

Hey guys, I hope I'm not intruding since it's my first post in this group. :) Is it alright if I join you in the (presumably long, long) wait for conclusion?

Hearing about broken dreams kinda reminded me of this mashup, which I actually find oddly fitting as well.
