That angry response to Solas scene, wow. My Lavellan could not bring herself to be angry at him. The most she ever lashed out over the whole situation was being a bit snippy with Josie (or was it Cassandra?) after the end battle. Snapping that she didn't want to eat cake.

Odd, doesn't seem I'm gaining anymore approval with Solas 
I've lost some in some convos but no gains...in the Fade atm and did his personal quest with his spirit friend, and got romance scene...just hoping I'm not getting a bug that prevents me from gaining approval from him (while I'm gaining approval for others)... 
And in talk of that scene where he ends it, I know I'm gonna be a crying mess when I get there...
We really need more fanfiction and kink meme prompts filled. There are sooo many good ideas.

I don't think they can leave it alone, what with the after credits scene being sequel bait. But I'm actually expecting him to be a villain if/when he comes back. More "breaking the world to fix it" shenanigans, probably.
A villain? No thanks and I highly doubt he will be. I hope we don't have to wait a year to get one with him in it. We probably won't get a DLC until 3 to 6 months from now.
And like I've said before I'm hoping for a good ending a good closure between my Lavellan and Solas and hopefully they will give us choices to be with him/have him stay or not.
That would be nice but given that he appears to be planning to "fix" whatever went wrong that resulted in the world not being in what he wanted it to be, I expect that whatever he does will do more harm than good. Regardless of how bad he appears to feel about it, he does kill Flemeth/Mythal because his people "need" him. Also remember that his last attempt to do... whatever it was involved giving the orb to Corypheus. He hasn't shown particularly good judgement so far.

That would be nice but given that he appears to be planning to "fix" whatever went wrong that resulted in the world not being in what he wanted it to be, I expect that whatever he does will do more harm than good. Oh, I'd wish to spare his life. I have a weakness for trickster gods. But first I'll punch him in a face with a chair.
We could let Anders live for God's sake and that guy had a total 'Yolo' moment. If he can be spared then I see no reason why Solas can't be spared, should there exist a DLC with the option to kill him one day. I dunno, the way Lavellan can react and say that if she fails she would just start anew until, one day, she could make the world a better place and Solas' reaction gives me hope that we could, maybe, get him back on our side.
Solas has the capacity to do far more damage than Anders did, in terms of knowledge and power and he's shown himself willing to destroy in pursuit of his goal. Go ahead and take the "get back the past" option, if you still have a save before that conversation. It's enlightening.
I hope his story is continued in DLC, however it goes. The wait if it's something they're setting up for DA4 would be frustrating.
I'm trying to recall if Bioware has done any other tragic / unrequited romances with their LIs. The only one that comes to mind is the encounter Shepard has with the romanced Virmire survivor on Horizon.
It just makes me think back to this quote from the Building a Better Romance panel:
"Patrick Weekes later added that in the end,It is all about "writing stories that we need to tell...hoping that we have the trust from the players to know that we've hit that pretty rigorously."
A tiny part me (the bruised part) wants to question if this romance was really a story that needed to told. It feels like an odd thing for Solas's character because you doubt it has any impact, the story outcome is the same for everyone. It feels like small compensation that the players romancing him might have gleaned a bit more of his personality.
The other part is blown away by the superb storytelling. My Lavellan got to fall in love with a god. In a story both well told and unexpected. It's a tale worthy of greek mythology. So, to the devs I want to say: Thank you! (From this part of myself, at least.)
