Mass Effect is worth a play through! Particularly if you enjoy the Bioware approach to narrative.

As for Solas- Patrick Weekes has consistently been one of my favorite bioware writers, and just an all around cool guy. I have perhaps higher than usual confidence that whatever happens to Solas, it will be well written.

Never played Mass Effect, but the romances sound like downers.

Jacob and Thane got the short end, yeah. But Garrus and Liara had really good ones.

Still, I try to keep my little flame of optimism burning, trusting that Bioware completes a story good or bad. Solas did say he would explain everything after Corypheus was defeated if they were both still alive. Maybe there is still hope for that. Knowing he would still have the matter of the orb to deal with, which if lost could yet result in his death... Perhaps he wanted to have that resolved before coming back to talk to Lavellan.

He actually says that "everything will become clear" after Corypheus is dead. That's not really a promise to explain.

I'm not a big SciFi fan, and space be scary. I rather fight dragons and demons then worry that my hydro conductor has to be aligned with my latitude parallel on my ship or everyone on board will be lost in deep space forever *shivers* scary.

Who else does Patrick Weekes write? I agree that Solas's character is awesome! I just hope it continues like that :) *fingers crossed for a satisfying end to his tale*

Mass Effect really isn't quite like that. I don't know if I can accurately describe it, but it definitely falls more on the realm of sci-fi fantasy rather than straight sci-fi.

As far as Patrick Weekes goes, he was a writer for Mass Effect. Most known for writing Mordin, but he also wrote for Garrus [ME2], Taly, Jack, Kasumi, and several others. Generally responsible for many of the great character moments in ME2 and 3.

In DA:I, he wrote for Iron Bull, Cole, and Solas. Not sure if he handled any plot arcs. He also wrote the novel 'Masked Empire'.

I also love Cole and Iron bull :D and I've heard good things about Masked Empire.

Maybe I should check them out, of course I'm spoiled for some major plot points... And space be scary.

Pardon my language but they did a ****** poor job on Thane's and Jacob's romance. Some people think with what happened to Thane was meant to be and I don't agree. There can always be a miracle for sick people and yet they treated it like it was doomed no matter what.

Luckily Garrus made things a bit better but still I'm angry over what happened to Thane and I'm going to be a bit sceptical on buying future ME games.  :P

Spoiler

So I just had the conversation where Solas tells you about the orb when you're elven and I noticed sonething interesting.
He says "We must find out how he (Cory) survived"
So when he gave him the orb, he thought using it would kill Corypheus?

Err. I'm sorry, what do you mean. Corypheus "died" trying to breach the elven ruins, didn't he?

Nika is speaking about the initial use of the orb that opened the Breach. Corypheus "dies" near the end, attempting to enter the Temple of Mythal.

That is strange, Nika. I believe he also has a dialogue about having a hard time believing a Tevinter magister could access the orb's full power. I'll have to see if I've got a screencap of it.

Whops I worded that weirdly
I mean the conversation before he tells you about Skyhold
And from what I heard he only tells you that the orb is elven when you play as an elf

Don't stop.

I love Varric's reaction to Solas reading his book, though. He just sounded so excited. And I love the Qun dialogue because it totally backs up the whole Fen'Harel = rebellion thing.

The way that Solas leaves kind of reminds me of how Morrigan does the same to the male Warden. Which makes me a little hopeful that he'll get some DLC treatment like she did. This is the hope I hang on to. xD

It'll be so unfair if Sola's romancers don't get something similar to Morrigan romancers :(

We're going to pretend that it's not even an option. ;)

Solas WILL have something more. HE WILL. /sobsuncontrollably

Shh it's okay *comforts* Solas didn't leave your Lavellan, you're still in the fade. This is just a Nightmare. Soon you'll wake up and everything will be sunshine and Solas.

I wouldn't mind having a happy and a sad ending. I still haven't forgiven Bioware for Anomen. I still remember Anomen Bioware! Do you hear that? I still remember that... that. I can't even find the right word to describe him - it's just a bunch of random angry noises.

A sad ending where Lavellan dies for some reason (to save/stop him from whatever he's doing.) would be nice since I kind of like the romances where the PC is the one who dies/leaves the LI behind.

I also wouldn't mind a Chronicles of the Darkspawn style DLC either just to see more of that back story. Plus killing my own party was actually really fun.
