I really like that song for Solas. It isn't too surprising that it fits well. The plot of Wolf's Rain could be boiled down to 'a wolf seeks to return to heaven, but always falls short.'

There's yet another clue regarding Solas that I completely didn't spot in my first playthrough - I'm on my second now, and kicking myself for not seeing it before. In the conversation Solas has with Lavellan regarding the orb (after the destruction of Haven), he says that the orb is "said to be" (what a liar) used to channel power from elven gods, and that some orbs were even dedicated to specific members of the pantheon. So that's what the orb is used for 

 

He said he didn't have enough power to use it after sleeping so long, and was devastated after it broke. Perhaps this was his specific orb?

 

 

Yeah, the orb is most likely Fen'Harel's personal foci. I believe it was the key to unlocking the Eluvian through which the rest of the elven "gods" are sealed away, asleep, hurting, "masked in the mirror".

I thought he might be referring to the world for elves he is planning to create (and bring back) as a result of his future intentions.

I have to share my experience of the last romance scene with all of you. My boyfriend was trying to get me to call it a night and i refused knowing I was due a Solas scene, so he sat with me to make sure i wouldn't stay up all night trying to complete my speed run.
fast forward to that fated last scene
Solas wants to take the vallaslin, BF replies, he wants to take your vasaline?
I of course tell him to shut up and agree to the spell.
Cue the kissey faces and the butt grab, BF replies, yeah baldy get some.
Then the breakup happens, I'm heart broken, BF replies it's because she didn't have a big enough bum. And he took took her vasaline looks like she's SOL.
That comentary, though unwelcome at the time, really softened the blow.
