So it turns out there isn't a separate storage system for your loot (apart from your inventory screen, which has a limited capacity):

"As a long-time packrat RPG player, I was sad to sell my companion’s possessions. In my head I struggled with freeing up one more inventory slot, or selling off The Iron Bull’s namesake axe, or Cassandra’s Seeker shield. Call me a romantic, but those things should be proudly displayed on a wall or at least tucked in a box. To have your own fortress and not have a room to pile your junk can make inventory management a needless frustration."

http://gamingtrend.c...f-role-playing/

For the record, crafting materials don't take up space in our inventory, but still...

I HATE being forced to sell/destroy loot in an RPG in order to make room for more loot. I just assumed we would have the option of coming back to Skyhold and dumping all of our extra loot in a storage chest--like we could in the past two games--so we don't have to carry everything around at all times...

Edit: this isn't a "game breaking" issue and nobody here is going to cancel their preorder over this, but it is a rather annoying and inexplicable oversight.

What do you guys think about this?

How did the devs overlook this??

Edit: When asked on Twitter whether there was a "storage chest to hold all of our things in outside of the inventory," Mike Laidlaw responded with "Nope," essentially confirming what another reviewer called a "pointless inventory limitation".

Seriously, Bioware?

If this crops up as non-free DLC, I will break out the torches and pitchforks. Why in the blazes would you not put a storage chest in by default?

Yep.

With the whole crafting your favorite armor/weapon thing, I don't get it.

Sometimes I wonder if memory wise they just pushed DAI to its limits and had to cut some minor features here and there.

This, so much this. I find it odd that the Inquisition would not have a treasury of some sorts in its headquarters

It's unbelievable there isn't a way to store things ingame. I also hate having to destroy things to open up space. I guess that the inventory perks will be mandatory for me...

WHAT? Countless items to pick up for crafting and no storage? I have a whole f**** castle to store things! Are they insane at Bioware?

Hmm unfortunate. I personally don't make use of storage much but it was certainly handy when I did.

This looks like something that can be patched in.

Correct me if I'm wrong but crafting mats have their own inventory interface.

Hmmmm... There are probably inventory upgrade items. And where there are inventory upgrade items, you can typically use CheatEngine to add even more. I remember inventory being really limited in Kingdom of Amalur, and it irritated me so much I finally gave in and learned how to use CheatEngine.

Don't wanna cheat? Guess you are stuck tossing away all those nice items. But I have a feeling if they limited the inventory it's probably because you can breakdown all your stuff into materials for crafting, and that probably doesn't take up inventory space.

I'm not sure crafting materials take a slot in the inventory.

You've got a storage chest in KoA, though. And can access it at any house you own.

As I understand it they limit inventory space to get you to actually sell your stuff and use the stores rather than just leave everything sitting in your inventory/storage forever.

Not convinced that's a good idea, but that's the logic I recall hearing.

Unless it's just a memory issue

Hopefully its something that can be put into the game via dlc or patch. It is a bit annoying but not like we havn't dealt with this problem before *cough* DA:O *cough. I will just have to try and micromanaging my inventory until then.

I don't get why we need inventory limits at all. It makes no sense. I feel for those who are into crafting it is going to make it quite difficult. I dread having to go to the market every 20 minutes to sell off inventory.

Though why would they care if some people are hoarders? "We want you to play your way" and all that jazz as their stated goal

Didn't DA2 have a chest to store items in?

Quite bizarre. Hope they patch it in. I'm going to be pissed if we have to pay for it though.

Freaking Gamlen had a storage chest and that dude excelled at poverty. A castle doesn't have one?

It's actually got a higher limit than DAO's chest.

Maybe you spend all of the Inquisitions money on the insane amount of different design for a personal bed  :D

Because hoarding means missing out on a part of the game they want you to enjoy. And because if you let people get ridiculously huge inventories, then they'll hate having to manage those inventories.
