I have an idea, but it's just an idea.  To say would be potentially spoilerish so I'll be happy to just wait and find out.

 

Not any of the guys posted in spoilers in here, yes not even that guy though i suspect he will be a major antagonist/boss, he won't be the final big bad.  

But I could be wrong and it totally is him.  At which point, I'd have to say I was pretty badly disappointed.  I'm hoping that other guy is just a disciple of the big bad and one of the henchman speed-bumps to the final showdown with Big Bad.

I hope so as well. He did not strike me as someone who could do ALL of this crazy s***.

Why are people disappointed by the villain's identity, btw? Serious question. I can understand not caring one way or another, (that's where I'm at) but why are some people so upset by this? Were they expecting something else? What, exactly?

I'm happy with who the main villain is. Makes sense to me.

Having Corypheus as the main villain is a good way to go into the backstory of the Golden/Black City and the origin of Darkspawn. It also explains how Hawke is regarded as an important person in Thedas history. Hawke is the behind the reason for all the change that started in Thedas: The discovery of red lyrium (gives templars more power and a new thing of use against mages), saved Kirkwall from Qunari (don't know how this affects places beyond Kirkwall yet), starts the Mage/Templar War (which the results will change Thedas) and unleashes Corypheus (who opens the fade into the world and starts DA:I). And the Inquisitor is there to clean up all of Hawke's messes.

What if Corypheus uses that orb thing to summon the Elder One, instead of him actually being it. Just seems weird that he's known as Corypheus then all of a sudden it's "the Elder One".

 

It's probably all just a play of words. Lazy methods of building suspense. As many have said, Bioware is always rather predictable with their plot design.

I don't think Corypheus is the big bad. In Legacy you can use the alter of Dumat. Corypheus calls to Dumat to 'give him power' during his fight with Hawke. He is a disciple of Dumat. And the wardens just assume that because the AD is gone at the end when a warden takes it's head, no one truly knows what happens to it's soul. I think the Elder One is Dumat.

Also since they haven't done anything to hide the images of the guy and what not, thinking he's not the Big Bad.  Though he is probably working with the Elder One.

I don't speak for anyone else obviously, but me personally. When a writer takes the time to be vague about who exactly the Big Bad is, I don't want to know who the hell the Big Bad is going into it. If it turns out to be him, then there is literally no point in all this "THE ELDER ONE" nonsense. Just use his damn name and be done with it. New players wont know who it is, and thus won't give a crap. Older fans will either rage about how lazy it is, or accept it, much like we are doing right now. There is zero reason for this facade if this is the case.

I notice that none of the reviewers so far have had any real complaints about the big bad, beyond one comment that you need to understand the lore to get it. So I still maintain Cory is just the big bad's primary agent and the big bad himself is an old god
