Might as well throw in Persona 4. Shoji Meguro is lowkey one of the dopest composers for video games of all time.

Metal Gear Solid 1-3 & Peace Walker
Metal Gear Solid 2 probably had the most solid soundtrack out of them all next to 3
It generally consisted of neat blues, jazzy tunes that neat fit with that eerie atmosphere of the Big Shell.
- Strut A Pump Room (Dat contrabass)
- Tanker Incident (Alert Phase -- Best Alert Phase)
- Can't Say Goodbye to Yesterday
_____________________________________________________________________________
Silent Hill Series, specifically 1-4 (Akira Yamaoka) -- Yamaoka is a master and he made the soundtrack as great as it was
- Promise
- Letter - From The Lost Days (Mary Elizabeth McGlynn is a good singer)
____________________________________________________________________________________
Persona series - Shoji Meguro is one of a kind; Blending everything from rock to jazz, hip-hop tunes, blues and even J-pop and still manages
to capture almost any raw emotion of the youthful spirit that is series -- Ultimately resulting in an excellent soundtrack. Always.
- Master of Tartarus
- Castle
- Corridor
________________________________________________________________________
The Longest Journey & Dreamfall -- Simon Poole & other composers created the themes for these great adventure games
________________________________________________________________________
Hitman series -- Jesper Kyd is excellent and I remember his tracks for Blood Money the most
- Vegas
________________________________________________________________________
Psychonauts -- Peter McConnell's blues-sounding guitar accords of Camp Whispering Rock was sold me
Along with anything else about this game. At times, it reminded me a bit of the Sly Cooper soundtrack which was neat.
- Whispering Rock Psychic Summer Camp
- A Mind of Bauhaus Principles
________________________________________________________________________
Knights of the Old Republic 2 -- It was one of the first western-RPGs I got into at the time since I was a fan of Star Wars
It felt so unlike John Williams, so unlike Star Wars, there was a neat atmosphere to it, and yet.. it still sounded like Star Wars
- Peragus Mining Facility (This was one was my favorite due to the atmosphere it creates for the abandoned mining facility - Love it)
_____________________________________________________________________________________
BioShock series -- The first game had some very memorable ones it was also the stronger of them all -- Best atmosphere
_____________________________________________________________________________________
Kingdom Hearts series -- This franchise has pretty much sold it with its music
- Halloween Town (ak.a. best Disney World in all the games)
- Dearly Beloved (KH2 version)
____________________________________________________________________
Sly Cooper series -- Specifically the second game
- Paris
- Prison
___________________________________________________________________
The Witcher 2 -- The game had a neat soundtrack going for it with that Eastern European feel to it
__________________________________________________________________
Valkyria Chronicles
- Battle
- Chronicles of the Gallian War
- Desperate Battle (Love this one)
And the list just goes on -- Lots of good game music out there for certain..

The thought occurred to me as well... although I thought it was sort of interesting to think of games with great soundtracks as opposed just great individual songs. TBH like Persona 3 I really liked the end boss song but the rest eh....

This thread again?
Anyway, say what you like about the game, Destiny has a gorgeous soundtrack. One moment you can find yourself lost in the mesmerizing ambience, the next moment you're completely pumped to blow off some knight heads.

Good call. Peragus is one of my favorite levels in any game, but it wouldn't have been nearly so awesome without that soundtrack.

Trine 2 also has some REALLY good fantasy soundtracks:

KOTOR I & II and NWN had 6-7/10 soundtracks. Some were nice, but most were boring.

I'm somewhat in agreement, though I'd put them more in the mid 8's. They match the setting(s) and fit the ambience well, but there really aren't any specific songs that made me jump for joy over.KOTOR I & II and NWN had 6-7/10 soundtracks. Some were nice, but most were boring.
Yep. FunCOM is still giving away the soundtrack, and I fell in love with the game due to taking a listen. Bought it off GoG, and the rest is history. It's relaxing, ethereal, and naturally otherwordly at times. The Longest Journey
Listening to DS1 is sort of like listening to Valkyrie Profile. It tends to bounce between somber melodies and blistering battle music. Considering the composers are one and the same, it's not too surprising. For me, listening to Demon's Souls outside of the game is more enjoyable compared to DS1. Too much yelling/chanting in most of the boss battle musicDark Souls, Dark Souls 2, Demon's Souls
DS2 didn't blow my mind for the soundtrack. Majula and a couple others were great, though.

Ace Combat Zero
Oh yes.
Surprised also not to see any Ace Combat stuff here. Keiki Kobayashi and the team at Namco Sounds are spectacular at nailing epic fighter pilot music. Operation Bunker Shot was a mission flying top cover for a modern version of D-Day in Ace Combat 04 back in 2001. Ace Combat 5 went even more over the top with orchestral and choral work for the theme in its final battle, The Unsung War, and when the prequel Ace Combat Zero came out it remixed "The Unsung War" into one of the finest pieces of powerup music ever, Zero. Then, Ace Combat 6 rolled out a complete suite with an amazing centerpiece, The Liberation of Gracemeria.
