Wouldn't having at least one spirit to summon, as in actually summon, be beneficial to the class?

It's petty lame and disappointing. I especially hate that its focus ability is Haste where revival is in the knight enchanter tree, even though knight enchanter is already built more powerful, it gets a better focus ability that makes more sense for necromancer, and they give necromancer the focus ability that makes more sense with knight enchanter. Did they make knight enchanter and then go "oh wait there's supposed to be three specializations" and throw together necromancer?
focus abilities are character-specific, in case Dorians and Vivienne's

Wait what? WHAT
do you have a link or reference?

Here is a video showing Haste on the Inquisitor though
I am going to say after watching a certain scene haste makes sense being with the necromancer.
Many people have been complaining about the lack of animated corpses.
But wouldn't reliance on corpses would clash with the functionality of Walking Bomb?
And it doesn't seem to match up with established lore. "Undead" are simply corpses possessed by demons, so to create one would need Blood Magic, which they seem to be avoiding this game because of the lore inconsistency.
The dragon age version of necromancy seems much more in line with the real-life mythology.

Do frost mages get summons? ![]()

There was Animate Dead in DA:O
Blood magic is not necessary to make Undead. There is no rule that says a mage cannot use regular magic to summon and bind a spirit into a corpse and make it fight for him.

Problem is the animtate dead sucked since your mage did not have an proper understanding of necromancy or binding/manipulating spirits like in DAI. Oh and messing around with spirits like the necromancer does in DAI would most likely get you executed or tranquiled in the fereldan circle since it carries a stigma everywhere but Nevarra and Tevinter.

I think what people are not fond of is more like no summons at all and not just no animated corpses.

To hell with that. I want my summoning pets. I want my army of undead. This is the Age of Dragons. Change is Coming. Embrace it.
While I would like to have had a pet zombie (my dream of walking around in the game Michonne-style is sort of dead now), I think the skills linked seemed interesting. Going to have to play it to see how I feel about it. If I don't like it, well, there's always a future gig as a knight-enchanter or a frost mage or a fire mage waiting for me.
I must confess that after all the edits I did earlier, I'm kind of in the mood to either incinerate my future Inquisitor's enemies...or to freeze them and then shatter them into a million tiny, tiny pieces. ![]()
Is that guy pooping? He looks like he is pooping.

Well in the necromancer description on the website it says the bind and manipulate spirits and spirits of the dead which fits within the lore for necromancy in dragon age if you read up on the lore of the Mortalitasi. Plus in other fantasy settings the manipulation of souls and spirits is a part of a necromancers skill set.
SO ANY NEWS ON SPIRIT MARKS UPGRSDE AND DURARION OF MINIONS?!?!?!?!?
You're joking right? Or is this s troll post? The entire tree is linked in the first post.
Was he riding a purple hart? Here is a video showing Haste on the Inquisitor though
Maybe a dev who used Vivienne in their party and liked being a KE had them switched (despite making it make less sense) because he hated how balanced they were?firstly you mean resurgence (healing), because the revival spell is in spirit and only costs mana. And secondly yes they did in fact have haste originally in KE, but then for some completely unknown reason to me they switched the two.

lol not sure. Haste seems really good, I just don't know why it's in necro. And I wish they would have thrown in at least a minor summoning (even something that just acts as a aggro lure)
Well the upgrade just makes it another mediocre DOT.
That's unfortunate tbh cause necromancers at the core are thought of as a minion based class / speciliazation...
Well that is depressing.
Preconceptions & stereotypes meeting reality can be depressing. Who needs minions when you have 3 followers as meatshields?![]()
Necromancer looks awesome, so excited for it.. but yes it is slightly "false advertising" you don't raise the dead, yet the name sells it. Cooler then Spirit Manipulator or the like.
Theodosian necromancy is not equal to Tamriellic Necromancy or other fantasy Necromancy.
Necromancy in Tamriel is about raising the dead, Mannimarco, Molag Bal, the undead and skeletons and ghosts, manipulation of death and disease...This is sort of the same with Necromancy in other fantasy games...
Necromancy in Thedas is about spirit communion, mummification, treating the dead with respect, using lich powers to teach and to communicate...
Theodosian Necromancy is far more grey and benevolent as opposed to the typical Necromancy we see in fantasy games...
forget Tamriellic necromancy, I was hoping for something that resembled WarCraft III's necromancy :p
